My wife and i have both fallen in love with this hotel! It epitomises everything about Rome perfectly. There is an ever so slightly faded grandeur and elegance to the hotel that is reciprocated around the entire city. The rooms are clean, the breakfast is plentiful, the staff are lovely, the rooftop terrace is magical (we danced to the sounds of the city up there at least once). Yes, the wallpaper has peeled in tiny patches. You may have to time your showers in order to get hot water (6am or 4pm seemed best) as all the rooms share the hot water tank. Let me make it clear... We love this hotel and will be coming back in the not too distant future. Well worthy of it's 4 stars in our opinion.
I expected more from a 4 star hotel. The hotel is in much need of a renovation. When we arrived we were greeted by a man who didn't even speak to us just gave us the room key and didn't even explain anything about the hotel or breakfast. Fair enough there was a sign at the lift but it would've been nice for him to try and make the effort and from then on that man we continued to avoid him as he was very grumpy. Our shower worked but it wouldn't stay up and kept falling on the ground when we tried to shower and if we wanted it higher we had to hold it above our heads. The minibar did not work and smelt absolutely awful. I explained the the man at the desk but it happened to be the grumpy man and he didn't seem in the least bit interested. However if you need to know how to get anywhere in the city they are all very helpful. Breakfast was very disappointing for me I seen someone commenting saying first class breakfast I thought that was a joke all I could eat in the morning was a bread roll even that was very hard to eat. However it was always clean with fresh towels apart from the first night we stayed there we had no towels. Today we checked out and I was ready to give this hotel 2 stars as all I can say was it was clean and provided you somewhere to sleep. However the man today we had a problem with our transfer to the airport and he sorted everything out for us. He was so helpful I wish I got his name and couldn't be more grateful to him this morning. For that reason I have gave it 3 stars. However as I said at the start it needs a good bit of renovating to keep its 4 star status!
Disgusting, not even 1*. Mouldy Shower which didn't work, dirty room, which wasn't even cleaned properly, used glasses left,we washed our own,No coffee or milk available.Disgusting old uncomfortable beds, with curtain throws.I didnt want to sleep in them for fear of bugs.Breakfast pathetic, not even a toaster. Shabby, burnt lamp shades, totally disgusted after paying all the money we paid.Roof terrace toilet, ceiling collapsing,no cushions on wire chairs,I have photos, but i am amazed that this hotel achieved 4* rating.Only one member of reception staff,Roberto, was helpful. The rest were offhand, not helpful and arrogant.
I'm always choosing authentic hotels for my stay in a new city, so for my first trip to Rome i chose Gallia Hôtel. The hotel is very old yet charming: the entrance with stained glass windows, the staircase with red royal style carpeting, cute small rooms with wooden furniture and terrace with fascinating view over the church. Breakfast is small but with all essentials like cereals, pastries, yoghurt, juices and coffee. The room is very clean. Room has AC, kettle and minibar. I would like to mention especially Alex at reception for his impeccable service and care from the moment of check-in. There are a lot of supermarkets and restaurants in the area. I never used public transportation, everything is very close : termini station 10 min, Colosseum 15 min, villa Borghes 30 min, main shopping street 25 min. I will definitely choose this hotel on my next stay in Rome.
Great location near main train station from Airport. Very close to the Colosuem and the forum. Really loved having breakfast on the roof top terrace. In fact we brought food back some evenings to enjoy on the terrace with sights of Rome including the must see basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. We must also mention "Roberto" the house manager! who was a WOKING football fan. He was very helpful and always cheerful. The travel agents told us that the Rome hotels are styled old school elegant and we agreed and enjoyed staying in a large elegant chic room with added air con. Alan & Kirsty
The most important privilege was location of the property. It is located in the center , in a walking distance to historical places, sightseeing and train station etc. Staff at the lobby was welcoming , nice and helpful. We had enjoyed having our breakfast on the roof & terrace of the hotel , however variety of items were poor.
Hotel is located near basillica santa Maria with lot if shops cafes and restaurants nearby. Also one of the other major bonus is it is 5 minutes walk to termini station where you can catch buses and the metro to all attractions. The colleseum is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Rooms are basic and served us well for short stay. Rooftop terrace for breakfast was good with excellent views . Also they let us leave luggage after checkout to collect later. Would stay again.
The location of this hotel could not be better, fifteen minute walk from Spanish steps, trevi fountain and the coliseum. Breakfast on the roof terrace was lovely and rooms were very clean. Only problem was the hotel did not have an iron :( would definitely stay here again.
Located right beside the beautiful Santa Maria Maggiore and Hop on Hop Off Stop. Some great restaurants nearby on all sides of the street including their own just a few doors down. Breakfast was very good on the lovely terrace. Room and especially bathroom were spacious and as most older hotels in Europe are, it was dated but clean. The A/C was louder than the norm. I am not sure if I were staying longer than 3 nights that I would book there. Having said that, it served us well for our one night stay.
I visited Rome and Hotel Gallia for my husbands 30th birthday after a recommendation from my travel agent. Worst mistake of my life. The hotel is dated and smells musky and old. The lift does not work properly - i took to the stairs for most of my stay. The rooms are old fashioned, we had ripped curtains and had to wait almost an hour one evening for hot water to take a shower. We rang reception twice and both times they advised they would look at it and call back - this never happened. Each morning we woke up with bites - bed bugs! We informed reception and the gentleman did not say anything- just turned away from us and asked for payment for the room tax. The old man on reception was miserable and could not help us with any queries despite the answers to our questions being in the brochure displayed in reception. Breakfast was horrible - dried croissants and no hot food. My husband had a boiled egg but when he took a bite, it was green inside. I'm shocked that this hotel is a 4 star!!
