Dirty bath, uncomfortable bed, bad wi fi, good location, noise

We arrived and they put us in the incorrect room. The man who checked us in(eyes rolling and grumbling) said to deal w it for one night and they would change it the next day. i asked if we would be compensated and he suddenly was inspired to find us a correct room. the second to last night in the hotel our room FLOODED and at 11 at night i was left standing in a towel for an hour waiting on the hotel to sort the matter and tell us what was going on. They switched our room finally and i asked the maintenance man to leave so i could get dressed. he barged back in 2 min later without knocking-I could have been naked! The new room was a downgrade-smaller, not as nice and very noisey. we could not sleep. When we asked the front desk what they could do, they said because we paid in advance they could do nothing. So, basically do not pay upfront because they dont care once they have your money. At check out the same rude man who checked us in, told my aunt she had to pay the tourist tax.1 at check in he took my credit card to charge me for the taxes 2.the night before he told us nothing could be done for all of the problems we had experienced at the hotel BECAUSE we had paid for EVERYTHING already. When my aunt argued with him asking him to show proof he said " i dont want to deal with you". This was a HORRIBLE experience and I would not recommend this hotel to ANYONE.The breakfast is mediorcre, wifi is spotty and shut off at night, and the customer service is TERRIBLE.

Felt very safe in the room, at first we were given the wrong roomkey, but this was fixed immediately. The hotel itself was centrally located to the point that waling to the Vatican was a breeze. The rooms were clean the staff was beyond helpful and friendly. I would stay here again without hesitation!

Having a great location does not mean that a hotel sits back and does not update. Carpets worn out, old tube tvs, dark areas, very dull public areas and dated décor etc. Breakfast is very, very poor. Hotel appears to focus on 2 star package groups and it shows: mass production. It need not be as the staff would appear to be better than this and it does have a great location. Currently a 2 star hotel but could be 4+

A great place to stay. Wonderful staff. The location is fantastic with many great places nearby. I would stay here again.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and got nightmare experience about this hotel. Every single living worker there was so cranky and looked so unpleasant. They are all OLD (well, nothing wrong with being old and working) and seemed not to have energy or passion for what they are doing. They looked like a whole bunch of zombies. Especially the old men. The location is close to the Vatican City. Other than that, every else was horrible. NO free Internet and I have to pay €10/night. I was so surprise that in the middle of Europe, Internet is still charged. The bottom line is, stay away from this hotel at any costs of your life. You don't want to spend your money to get the frustration and stress. People in that hotel gave me so much stress and nightmare.

We loved the Cicerone. The hotel staff was very friendly and very helpful with city and tour questions. The breakfast, which was included, was wonderful. We would stay there again.

The hotel was fine. It was in a great neighborhood, close to shops, Metro, and a nice walk to the Vatican. The Metro was maybe 3-4 blocks away and two stops from the Spanish Steps. The Hotel was clean and had all the amenities one needs. I had a single room, and it had a queen sized bed and a big bathroom. Plenty of closets and a fridge/minibar. No view as I was on the inside, but I did not care as the hotel was only 7 stories tall, the norm for buildings in Rome. I would stay there again.

It's worth the price you have paid. The location is perfect if you take into account that you are in a big city and you can't be everywhere and you have to choose. The relationship between prices and services that you have to pay for a stay in Rome is more than correct, mainly if you consider that you are going to enjoy a wonderful breakfast that you should pay apart in other places. If the price fits you, don' doubt it. The only problem is that Internet is not free and the price is a little exagerated.

This hotel is in the middle on no where and feels like a holiday inn. I stayed in 3 different hotels in Rome, and I would strongly recommend NOT staying here. The bathroom had mildew and the sheets were old and nasty. It is NOT NOT NOT a 4 star hotel. The breakfast was also sub par.

Hotel Cicerone in Rome tries its best but is let down by institutional issues with hotel industry in Europe. 1. Very hard spring beds 2. 2 Twin beds instead of a Queen / King mattress 3. Overly expensive hotel breakfast options Other than these flaws, the staff was very nice, the room cleaning was wonderful and the place had a good atmosphere overall. I did have some communication problem with the front desk when trying to get a printout but I would put it down to language issues. I don't see how you can find a better hotel in the Vatican area.

Situated close to Cavour place it is a good start exploring Rome. Breakfast is really good with fresh fruit and coffee. There are a few restaurants of good quality and one supermarket to refill your water supply etc. However, there are some drawbacks for this hotel. My room was not ready at the check-in hour. The room itself is so small that my luggage must have been placed on the bed. The elevator works up to the seventh floor only, then you can walk. The elevator's mechanism makes a noise, and the walls are not soundproof. Wi-Fi is not free and costs 9 euros per day. All in all, it is what you have for what you pay.

Nice Hotel, Nice staff and great location. The hotel is dated, but provides it's services. The Staff truely make the difference

Walking distance from Vatican, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Piazza Novana. Highly recommend.

A location of the hotel is great -- I cannot say anything bad about this aspect. I would like to identify several items that I personally did not enjoy in regards to my stay there: 1. A TV set in my room was really old (probably at least ten years old): sometimes, it turned off by itself every couple of minutes. 2. Breakfast in the hotel was way overpriced: twenty Euros per person even based on Rome's standards is above the roof. 3.Even though I paid for the room more than $165 per night, I still had to pay extra 10 Euros per day for the Internet connection. Common guys, take a look at most American hotels and learn from them.

This was a LONG OVER DUE honeymoon and first trip to Italy for us....we couldn't have asked for a more pleasant trip. From check-in to check-out everyone/everything was GREAT!!! If we ever go back we will definately stay at the Cicerone :)

This hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Rome- Was 5 minutes walking distance to the bus stop which actually passed by the hotel- 10 minutes to the train station, 15 minutes to the Vatican and other areas as well. The Concierge was especially friendly at night suggesting great restaurants and even walked us there! Hotel was clean and rooms were spacious. The place to stay while in Rome. I wasn't too happy with the breakfast as it was the typical runny eggs and limpy bacon often served in Europe.

This hotel is very nice, and located in a central location to the Vatican. Walked to the Vatican every day, and on the way there were many places to shop and eat along the main street. There were also many street vendors selling everything you could think of for reasonable prices. The Metro was only a few blocks away. The hotel staff were very accommodating with finding places to go, tours, maps, etc. Make sure if you state how many people are in your room because you need to have a room with that many beds.

THIS WAS A GOOD LOCATION FOR MY HUSBAND AND I. THE STAFF WAS EXCELLENT, HELPFUL UPBEAT. HOWEVER, WITH GROUPS OF TOUR THAT BOOKED THERE STAY AT THE HOTEL , IT BECAME A HERD OF CATTLE DURING BREAKFAST TIME. BLOCKING STEPS, MY HUSBAND FELL DOWN THE STEPS DUE TO THE LACK OF SUPERVISION. I DID NOT APPRECIATE PAYING FOR THE INTERNET SERVICE AT THE COST OF ROOMS.

A great staff welcomed us to the hotel, the only issue (not sure who's side was behind schedule) was that the hotel staff did not have my reservation confirmed. Was quickly resolved when the receptionist let me step behind the desk to open my e-mail to retrieve booking confirmation. The American breakfast was a perfect way to ease into starting the day of trvelling throughout Rome. Location was great, would be happy to stay again.
