There were positives: nice welcome, very modern and attractive furnishing (I was in Van Gogh room - the one pictured), Nespresso coffee machine... however, I mainly go to a hotel to sleep and I didn't get that. So I returned to my room at midnight after working at the nearby Stadio Olimpico and I notice upon opening the door that there is a stench of smoke... it appears the person next door is smoking. That person is also on his phone, talking - or rather shouting. This is when I realise that the walls are made of plasterboard and I'm practically sharing my room with somebody I just cannot see. Despite knocking to try to tell him to stop (all he does is laugh loudly and shout louder - seems he is drunk), he continues to talk through to 530am. My alarm is 6am as I need to get a taxi to the airport. I know a hotel cannot control its guests, but since there is nobody at reception to call, you are left to your own devices, but the real problem is the wafer-thin walls which means you can hear everything in the room next door. If I were happy to share a room, I would have booked into a dormitory at a hostel and paid €20, but at least known that I might not sleep. Here, I desperately needed to sleep as I'd had a long week with a two-hour night on Tuesday due to work. I didn't get much more than an hour. Summary: it is worth paying extra to get a real hotel room with decent walls where, if worse comes to worse, you can at least inform reception and they can help you to quieten noisy neighbours. I wrote to BdB Luxury Rooms at 630 as I made my way to the airport to tell them what had happened and I did not even receive an apology or any acknowledgement, so clearly they do not care.
it was great to stay there close to Vatican city by bus or 20 min walk. Very clean place and nice stuffs but for breakfast you have to go to some where else :-(. The room was small but modern and clean plus bathroom was stunning with a good shower. there is small elevator to take you upstairs and very clean. TV has many channels but only two English. WiFi was great.
Well- I like yourself read these reviews and think- it can't be that bad.. but it can.. The "room" not hotel is decent.. There is no Front Desk No on call service- we had an emergency with the couple next to our room where the key didn't work- and not one number they gave us- did anyone pick up.. we called the emergency line "24 hour" line and no one picked up.. We waited out in the middle of the street for 1 hour, with another couple staying in the room next to ours. We then had to wait for the cleaners the next day to let them know- She was nice- but didn't speak english.. the manager/ owner called- and told me it was the keyholder not the key, however the management on site couldn't even open the door with our current key.. We even had someone who lives in this condo try to use our key- and they couldn't.. The owner has no regard for the well being of the guests, and told us she didn't care nor could she do something about us being locked out- and hopes that it doesn't happen again tonight- but if it doesn't fear not- just ring the bells of the other units- someone will let you in!! (and the people who live here- don't speak even a little english) just some food for thought.. Oh sorry last comment- Bed and Breakfest means you have to have BREAKFAST- they don't even have a kitchen! What BDB really means is Big Damn Basic.. Its big room, Damned if they care, and basic, because thats the area its in:) Beware- you can't say I didn't tell you:) On a good note: they do have a nice restaurant across the road and if you have 2-3 hours you can too enjoy the dining experience.. THEY DONT SPEAK ENGLISH.. but good Italian food. 25 minute walk to the vatican- Its not located in vatican as advertised on hotels.com Have fun:)
We stayed for a week in the Van Gogh room. The room was small but modern and clean. The bathroom was stunning with a good shower. The room has a strange floor, there is three levels.... This may seems strange but it's easy to trip up on the floor. On top of this the bed is more like a futon, so makes getting in and out of bed quite tricky. Wifi is great. TV has many channels but only two English ones. The rooms are on the 2nd floor of a residential building which is accessed via stairs or a mini lift. The rooms are secure and there is a safety deposit box in the room too. If you like walking, this hotel is for you. It's a good 20 minute walk to the Vatican and a good 15 minute to the nearest metro station. The room servicing was great and although there is not a receptionist it's easy to get in touch with a member of staff. Mariano was very helpful and gave us plenty of local advice to make our stay most pleasant. Although double glazed the room is quite noisy from the traffic, is recommend ear plugs. I'd stay again at this property but only with good walking shoes :)
A little bit off the grid but don't let that stop you staying in this wonderful guest house! If you are fit and healthy you can easily walk to most attractions within Rome. The Vatican is 20 minutes down the road and the Colleseum took us about 40 minutes. Stunning wall art, spectacular cleaning service provided every day and everything you can't fit in your hand luggage is easily accessible. (Hair dryer, towels, dressing gown, slippers, toiletries.) Highley reccomended this place!
Very friendly and helpfull staff. you need bus 32 to go 5 stop to Ottaviano Metro station/Vatican city or 15 min walk. for breakfast they give coupon which you can exchange for fresh food in 2 breakfast bar almoast anytime. Renovated excellent interior. Shower drains is slow as like all old building. we take the 2 bedroom suite. They also have small kitchenate inside. washroom door was not locking from inside. Not an issue from our side. Full maid service daily. 50 Euro Taxi fare from Ciampino airport. Oveall its very good.
Yes, the wall art was beautiful, everything was very clean, and the coffee that was provided was great! The beds weren't very comfortable, everything was pretty compact, the 3 keys and the locks were a little confusing, no one was available to help or answer questions, we walked and walked and never did find where to get a little breakfast, and it is not very conveniently located for the metro.
everything was excellent except the noise from the outside during the night and the pretty small ( and not feeling very safe in it) elevator... i loved the bed and the bathroom thought and the location was pretty convienient... again the rain shower in the bathroom was all i needed after an exchausting day
After arriving at the accommodation (which isn't the easiest to find as its the second floor of a block of flats, and its a bus trip from the nearest metro stop) we rang the bell a few times to no reply. Confused by this as it was 1:50pm and check-in was at 2pm we phoned up their office and was told to wait 10 minutes for someone to meet us. After 45 minutes we rang again and was told they were 5 minutes away. We ended up waiting over an hour for a young lad in sports gear to let us in. He literally just gave us the keys to our room and said someone would check us in tomorrow before he left! This completely mucked up our schedule for the first day and put us in a pretty grumpy mood! The next day we waited around till after 9am (as it is stated that they have someone on reception from 9am-1pm) before ringing in to their office again. We were told to wait 30 minutes, however we were on a tight schedule so we could not wait around. The only staff we saw in our four night stay was the cleaning staff briefly to whom we had to pay our city tax in advance for fear of not seeing anyone in prior to our departure. (Also the only reason we saw the cleaning staff was because we happened to pop back into the room at lunch time). The room itself was lovely with a beautiful shower so no complaints there at all. It was just such a shame to have absolutely no customer service. I appreciate it is not a hotel, however it would have been nice for someone to be there to check us in or out and we had no clue where the cafe's were for breakfast (or even where the breakfast vouchers were). It just would have also been nice to have some background knowledge about Rome and even where the nearest bus stop was. Also it is true what other reviews have said about the walls; they are very very very thin! Overall we did enjoy our stay but could have been so much better with just a little bit more effort. Doubt we would book with BdB again.
The room was wonderful, the bed very comfortable, the bathroom very nice decorate and the shower amazing. Everything was included like bathrobe, slippers, big towels, hair dryer and coffee maker, mini bar in good prices. Very clean place and the best I stayed in my four days trip. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Just one thing I missed was an iron. Hope to come back again there.
