Golden Teacher Cliff House

Golden Teacher is our newest and bravest cliff-mounted space in the Red River Gorge KY.  We decided to go totally custom on this retreat space -- Inspired by the native mud dabuers here in the gorge, we challenged ourselves to see if we could meld form and function in the fully copper-clad, three-story, cliffhouse.  Fully bolted and suspended from the sandstone cliffs in a secluded corner of the ridgeline, Golden Teacher is an adventure space that fascinates, tugs at the imagination and enlivens the soul.

To reach Golden Teacher, you'll need to drive up a gravel road, ascend 175 steps on a suspended staircase, cross two bouncy suspension bridges and walk past our other two cliffhouses, Cliff Dweller and Sandstone Drifter.  Being the third in this unique lineup of architecture and fantasy, Golden is the most private.

Only when you cross into Golden's own deck stairs and porches will you be able to see the full three-story structure - sided in modern-copper-scales, but nestled amongst the geologic timescale of the sandstone itself.

There is a rock enclosure to hang out in, multiple decks to relax on and 3 levels at Golden.  The front door is located on the middle level, and contains a micro-kitchenette, custom cherry table and benches that seat four and a full bathroom with a shower, flush toilet and handsink.  On the top floor is the main Cloud Couch Lounge area and 1 queen bed.  The feeling in this room is one of peaceful rest and relaxation - with tapered walls and windows from which you can spend time truly in the canopy of trees.  The bottom floor of Golden Teacher is a strong, industrial-feeling bedroom with 1 queen bed and a ring of windows to peak out and enjoy the fantastic forest lighting.

Golden Teacher has two queen beds, is heated and cooled, has an electric range and mini fridge and is designed for four guests.  The outdoor lighting will be on until midnight and then we switch it off to allow the dark night forest sky to be just that--dark!  We recommend packing a flashlight or headlamp to aid in moving around after the lights are off.

Please note that this treehouse is on a 3/4 mile, bumpy, sometimes muddy, gravel road.  Some two-wheeled vehicles can make it to the cabin, but four wheel drives have a much easier time.  For this reason we highly recommend a 4 or all wheel drive vehicle!
