We selected this hotel as a stopover on a long drive to OBX. Depending on traffic,It is about 2 hrs. to OBX. We had/have no complaints about the accomodations. It is about 1-2 miles off the highway and very easy to find. Free parking and buffet breakfast included. There is a small outdoor pool in the back. They had just upgraded satellite reception and we did have a small problem with tv reception in our room as a result of the upgrade not being fully implemented. We did eat at Ribeyes Restaurant just up the street and had an enjoyable meal there.
After reading the reviews, my husband & I were very reluctant to stay at this hotel. We attended ECU's family & friends weekend & had to make a choice between Motels (in Greenville, that were infected with bugs) or a Hotel. We enjoyed our stay. The renovation was very pleasing. My husband and I enjoyed many upgrades that this hotel offered in our room (the bathtub/shower, the decorative long length wall mirror, the new mattress and bedding, the flat screen television, the furniture and cleanliness of the room and hotel as a whole. Our only complaint is the A/C unit within the hotel was obviously broken, because the hallway and sitting room on the floor was very, very warm, and the night shift clerk could use some customer service re-training. Other than that our experience was very satisfying. We will stay again if we could have the same room. We don't know what the condition of the other rooms.
1. LOCATION: I'll give it a 3 out of 5, because it's close to where my family was; close to some fast food restaurants; and a park (if you are traveling with kids). 2. FITNESS: Fitness Center Equipment Broken/not working. There was no signs to say the equipment was not working; and in the past years I've been there, I don't think it has EVER worked. Why advertise a fitness center that DOESN'T work? 3. POOL: The swimming pool was closed (due to it needing to be inspected by the State after the Flood). However, the front desk did not let us know that it was closed until we were actually in it; and we booked at this hotel because it had a pool. 4. CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST: The continental breakfast was sub-par. It used to be decent, but it's gone downhill. For example: I had a boiled egg and it tasted old; and there was not much selection. So, I opted to eat breakfast elsewhere. For future reference this hotel needs to do a better job of letting customers know when something is not working upon checking-in. It would be better received by customers and give you the option of booking elsewhere if these amenities are not available. 5. ROOMS: We had 3 adults and 2 children in my room; and since they did not have any cots, I brought my own blow up bed...so I can't rate how the beds actually slept. My family said they slept ok. The rooms were renovated and looked decent. However, the bathrooms could use a makeover, as the faucet in the sink was corroded, as well as the tub drain. The room came with a functioning t.v., iron, coffee pot, microwave and refrigerator, so that was a bonus. I will give the room a 4 out of 5. 6. STAFF: I can't really speak badly about the staff. They were friendly and tried there best to accommodate us. No one was ever nasty to us. If I have one criticism, it is that they need to do a little better job in informing customers when things are not working (i.e. pool, fitness center) upon a customers check-in.
Not enough words to describe how much of a horrible experience it was to stay at this hotel. Attention was hideous, toilet was dirty, the bathtub was dirty, A/C was not working, the pool was black. Everything in the room was broken, including the telephone which had no keypad. Breakfast was nasty. They messed up our room, beds were tiny and uncomfortable. They should not allow hotels like this one to even be open, it seems like there's no inspections. I'm not someone to write negative reviews, but I had to on this one.
Several problems: 1) Being renovated: Did not indicate this on the web site and the front desk did not care. 2) Dirty Room: Ours was being used a storage. Everything was stored on the beds, which was good because the floor was dirty. 3) Pool: We were offered to use the pool, but it was actually closed. What does that say about the pool service? 4) They did not have the room we reserved. They acknowledged that the web site did not match their room choices. They were not bothered by this. There is absolutely no reason to stay here.
Spent one night and had no problems. They are remodeling in some area are messy. The pool is closed because of the remodel, but it looks like it has not been cleaned. I saw no work going on in this area. Room was clean enough and no problems there. The hotel is close to places to eat and shop. Your choices are limited if you stay in Tarboro. I was on a motorcycle trip and just needed a place to stop. It was fine for me.
I'll let the picture of the WATER my daughter drank in the middle of the night, the mold build up in the rooms AC and one of the many stains on the carpet. The CDC should investigate this place as the potential start of the Z-virus.
This place is filled with a cover up fragrance. My sinuses are overwhelmed and the door is blocked slightly open. If you have allergies. Stay away!! My eyes are watering but it's late and I use comfort inn all the time. This is the worst cover up spray ever - I have driven across country several times. This is really bad.
This place was disgsting. I'm glad I brought sheets and blankets for our children. We were here from Friday to Sunday and not once was our room vacuumed. The first day they "cleaned" our room all they did was make up the beds and hang new towels. The trash wasn't even emptied. We won't make this mistake again. The Comfort Inn in Rocky Mount is MUCH better.
Stayed here two nights for baseball tournament. Upon checking in had to listen to a spiel from the front desk clerk about what we couldn't do if the games were moved, if it rained, etc. ( she was probably just relaying info from her boss). The room was reasonably clean but the bathroom needed some attention, grungy floor, etc. A lot of rooms on the third floor (and second) are smoking and the odor just permeates the nonsmoking rooms around them. the breakfast items were not as good as other Choices. The pastries and baked good were "past their prime" but the same items were out Saturday and Sunday. Waffles were the best bet because they were made fresh. Finally went to 7/11 one day.
