Great staff and we loved the location. We were looking for a small hotel with a more personal and authentic experience and this checked all of our boxes. We loved the food and the service and the rooms.
This was our first trip to the Riviera Maya without staying in a giant all-inclusive. Those types of places have their perks but after staying at Petit Lafitte, I really don't want to go back to a giant place. PL is small, intimate, relaxing, the staff is amazing, the setting and grounds are gorgeous, and the bungalows and rooms are cute. Dinner and breakfast is included - the food was fantastic - a 4 course meal for dinner and a great breakfast menu. You can get lunch at the bar restaurant, also great food, or walk to CoCo's next door for great pizza and cerviche (this is a must - CoCo's is super cute and the staff were really nice...and wear your swimsuit because you can take a little dip in their pool). For drinks, you just start a tab at the beginning of the week and pay up at the check out - for our family of 6, included 2 20-somethings, our drink and lunch/snack at the bar bill was $400 for 6 days. Margaritas were about 65 pesos (about $3.25 US) each, a glass of wine about 90 pesos ($4.50 US). The beach front and pool are great - and it was never crowded. We were always able to get prime beach chairs without waking up at 5:00 AM to reserve a spot. You can get a massage on the beach for only 600 pesos (about $30 US)- this is a must. The swimming on the beach is great. The kids can run around and it's small enough that I wasn't concerned about having my youngest run back to the bungalow by herself. Perfect vibe for relaxation.
This was our 5th visit in as many years, and was probably our best time. Great to see familiar faces of the staff whom we've come to know well. Things seemed busier this year, with more guests than we're used to seeing, but perhaps it was our scheduling this year. Very relaxing stay. Beautiful weather. Great margaritas. We took advantage of the $30 hour massages which helped melt the tension away. Next door, Cocoa Cabanas offered a different menu than the standard fare at Petite.
Hotel was very welcoming. David is wonderful and charming . He gave us a tour of the hotel and explained everything. The hotel's beach is a little rocky, but there are areas you can swim. The pool is small. The food at the hotel is very good. It is half board-breakfast and dinner. Lots of fruits and salads, healthy food. We stayed in a bungalow which was different and also in the main part of the hotel. I liked the main part because it is brighter. The bungalows are great for families with small children. There are spider monkeys in the trees .
We arrived at Petit Lafitte in a rental car and it was a little strange coming in through the different hotel complexes with high walls, then a dirt road leading to P.L. We were greeted in the lobby with a delicious glass of melon juice, then David showed us around P.L and then to our room. Everything was very clean: the rooms, bathrooms, pool area and grounds. There were lots of staff members working hard every day to make sure everything was spotless. Loved the traditional rooms. Very simple with tile floors and my favorite part was the patio off the room where you could sit and look at the ocean. We were in a ground floor room with an ocean view. Other rooms had a pool view and on the other side are the bungalow rooms. The room had a coffeemaker, mini fridge, tv and safe. Loved that they provided lots of bottled water each day. Great food here which included breakfast and dinner. We ate at the beach bar for lunch each day. That was delicious as well. There is also a little gift shop where you can rent lifejackets and snorkel kits. We got these for swimming in the cenotes. We would take a walk several times a day and the beaches were beautiful. Lots of huge resorts with massive amounts of people on beach chairs in these complexes. Made us glad when we got back to our quiet resort! They also had 2 for 1 drink specials sometimes in the evenings and entertainment like live music and mayan dancers. We loved it here and will be back!
Our family of 3 recently stayed at this hotel. We had an ocean-view bungalow right on the beach. The bungalow had AC, safe deposit box, coffee/tea making facility, and a sizeable patio. There was also free wifi access, even on the beach. The entire staff of this hotel was warm and helpful. We spent 5 relaxing days with them and would be happy to go back. It was upon arriving back in the U.S. that it occurred to me that they didn't have a T.V. anywhere and this had worked out perfectly! I add here that we were purposely looking to avoid those big hotel establishments that we found this little hotel. It turned out that their part of the beach was actually more quiet with fewer people and hence more space for each person than the beach in front of the big hotels further down from where we were.
Exelent the service was the best . Food very good .
My 2 children (ages 10 and 14) and I stayed here for a week. We had an excellent experience. The breakfast was delicious with lots of great menu items. We enjoyed the swimming pool, game room with ping pong and pool table, and of course, the lovely white sand beach. I appreciated the location - close to Playa, but quiet and cozy. There is a great pizza place within walking distance to the south. One of our highlights at the hotel was one evening when a group of colorful costumed Mayan actors performed singing and dancing with local instruments! They were so amazing and memorable!
I have stayed at this place for the third time during 10 years. I was more than happy to find out that it still exists and was not devoured by resorts around (although they unfortunately swept the beach both sides so the disco is heard even here at nights). It is a place where people whisper even in the swimming pool not to bother others, and the courtesy and care of the staff is just amazing, not to mention the excellent food and simple (in the best meaning of word) design of the hotel.
nice hotel localisation is little confuse the buffet is great overall 3 star thank you
This is a wonderful retreat. Understated elegance and great service, no crowds - just peace and the beauty around you!
This was our first experience in Mexico. The location was great, the beach awesome and the staff very welcoming. We loved the food and the amenities.
Perfect hotel size and location. Great staff with personal service!
Great smaller hotel on the beach. Staff is one of the best I have ever experienced. We had planned excursions for our trip but did not leave the hotel for five days. Rooms were very clean, grounds were well taken care of, and of course the beverages are not to be missed. I will be back again soon.
I almost don't want to tell everyone about how great this hotel is because then everyone will go here. My best friend and I went here on a mini relaxing vacation to escape the cold weather. We are both in our mid thirties. Let me start off with a disclaimer. This is a small, simple hotel with all the basic necessities that you need for a relaxing, fun vacation. But if you are looking for one of those larger, all inclusive (think Sandals) resorts, this is not the place for you. The beach is amazingly beautiful here and they have paid the taxes so outside vendors can't harass you to buy anything while you are relaxing on the beach. All the staff are kind, accommodating and work very hard. I believe most have been working there for years. And they really make an effort to know your name. They also know you are on vacation, so they won't bother you. The breakfast and dinner is included with your stay. The breakfast is by far way better than the dinners. There is fresh fruit and fresh orange juice daily. I have never tasted anything more delicious than the pineapple and the OJ. Dinner won't knock your socks off and it's a limited menu. But for what you are paying, it's totally worth it. And you can always go next door to Coco's (which is really, really good food too) or into town if you want something different. Fresh, bottled water is provided for free and is such a nice amenity. There is the choice of staying in the bungalows or the hotel rooms. We stayed in the hotel and really liked it. It wasn't fancy, but it was clean and had all you needed. TV channels are limited, but if you went to Mexico to watch TV then you might as well stay home. Some people said the bungalows were dark at night but romantic. All the guests are nice too. This place is good for couples, families and friends going on vacation. But there is no party scene here. The bar on the beach is great and reminds me of the movie Cocktail. But don't expect late night wildness. Oh! And we always felt safe staying here. I think we even slept with all our windows open. I had my doubts about our safety before going. And downtown Playa del Carmen is a modern, European like downtown. Think Barcelona meets Miami.
We had a great time. Staff was excellent and extremely helpful as we were first timers to the area. Food was outstanding, and we did not want to leave. So much to see and do. We will definitely return.
Its staff was very kind and friendly!! Food (breakfast and dinner was inclusive) was also good! I could relax and enjoy my stay :)
relaxing unassuming beach vacation. Great location.
Basic hotel with limited amenities. Rooms are rustic, and would benefit from thorough cleaning and renovation. Limited television channels, no remote control in our room, and no safe. Food was OK. If you need to be connected to the internet during your stay, this is not a place to stay. They do have computers to use, but the wireless network is dismal, no matter where you are located in the hotel. We were barely able to get connected for a few minutes each day. The beach is nice and not too crowded like the large resorts. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to walk from the hotel to town following the beach. Would not stay there again mostly because of the lack of reliable internet, and also because it is too far from town.
Petit Lafitte is a small hotel located a few kilometers from Playa del Carmen directly on the beach. All rooms have balconies, most have ocean views, and all are just a few feet from a beautiful palm treed beach excellent for swimming. There are also individual bungalows though some are a short walk to the beach without an ocean views. They also have a large pool. The MAP includes breakfast and dinner daily and the food is freshly made and very tasty. The staff is very friendly and provide excellent service. Free WIFI is provided in the rooms. The rooms are rather basic, they have a small refrigerator, TV with a limited number of stations, but are large and very comfortable. It is perfect for families, couples or groups of friends who are looking for a quiet hotel with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
