The food was great!!! The room was nice. We went with our friends and had a blast.

Overall it was a nice stay but there were a few things that I was not crazy about at this resort. The biggest problem for me was that the buildings were set far back from the beach. I didn't think this would be a huge problem but it really felt like we were not staying by the ocean. You have to walk about 10 or 15 minutes to access the beach because of the manGrove Forest and can't not see the beach from the pool area so it feels rather closed off and not like you are at the ocean in Mexico. However the beach it's self is very beautiful with lots of white sand and really no seaweed. They come by each day with a bobcat to pick any extra seaweed up so it is very clean compared to other resorts we have been to in the area. We splurged for a swim up room but but it wasn't really worth it because the water was super cold. We didn't see anybody else with a swim up room actually using the feature. The pool area was much less impressive than other hotels we have stayed at in the area also. You cannot see the ocean from the pools so there's really no difference then staying at a hotel in Orlando let's say versus This hotel. The rooms themselves are very luxurious but almost too large! The hot tub on the balcony was definitely the highlight. Roomservice was fabulous for breakfast on the balcony every morning. All of the restaurants were very very nice and fabulous interior design. We did notice though that the adults only side was significantly nicer than the family side.

Overall, the resort was great. However, the family concierge rooms should have better accomadations. I didn't see the benifet of paying extra for family concierge. The rooms were small for a family of 4.

I booked at Esmeralda and they moved me to perla then they wouldn't let me hang out with my family at the pool

I was a little disappointed with our stay at this resort. We stayed at paradisus in Punta Cana and had an amazing experience. Here we paid to upgrade our room to a family concierge master suite. I had to call several times to have them make up the bed for my daughter. The next day I had to call for them to clean our room since they had forgotten. The resort was nice but not as nice as the one in punta Cana. Staff was friendly but I felt we did not get the specialized attention we received at punta Cana paradisus. Overall not bad but I won't be staying there again.

Pros: water temperature and weather was excellent while there. Food taste and quality was fantastic (fish ceviche hit the spot). Beautiful modern design and breathtaking entrance. Drinks were fab! Space between lounge chairs and beach was close so I can keep an eye on my son. Bar and grill close by and they bring drinks to you. No waves! Kids club looked awesome even though we didn't use it. Cons: ocean had some random hard rocks that are easy to step on. Walking to and from the room to the beach was long considering we had to walk with a toddler. Most places were too dark and not well lit. Some of the flooring around the hotel was not practical and easy to fall ( keep the flip flops on). Really wished I heard Latin music instead of the spa zen music they played by the pool and entrance.

We had a group of 15. Staff and rooms were great. Food was okay, surprisingly the buffets may have been better then the restaurants if you choose the fresh cooked option.

We went down with a group of friends and there kids. Everyone had a great time. The walk out pool rooms were great, food was great, and of course relaxing with a few drinks made for a good week.

What an amazing vacation !!! Everything was top notch. They have a kids club that you can leave your kids to play & do fun activities while you go chill a the pool & bar. Definitely would repeat again. Actually searching for holiday deals from now !!!! Would recommend with no questions asked !!!

The Paradisus exceeded expectations. Selene our concierge was fantastic and made it the trip fantastic for the kids. Food was spectacular. Vento and Bana were by far the best family options. No shopping really at the resort, but Playa Del Carmen is a safe $15 dollar taxi away. Upgrade to family concierge if available.

The hotel was beautiful. The staff is nice and attentive and the rooms are nice. That's it for the positive. The beach was NOT close to the resort AT ALL and it was FULL of seaweed! We were so disappointed in the beach! There really are no words. It will be a very long time before we will go to Mexico again! They did not do a thing to clean it up. I literally cried at the money wasted! We did not plan a family vaca to Mexico to play in a pool. However speaking of pool they did not put the huge blow up float for the kids to climb on In The pool until the 5th day we were there. All the kids loved it!! Be sure and make dinner reservations!! Keep it between the hibachi show cooking and Bano. Everything else was TERRIBLE! I was expecting a little better quality of food for a 5star resort. Overall I would never stay here again. For the price I expect to be right on the beach. If you want to upgrade to a swim up room wait until you get there to do it. Way less expensive this way. If you want beautiful beaches I suggest Jamaica. The resorts are not spectacular but the beaches are phenomenal!!

Very nice hotels and grate customer service, good food. Japanes restorand was best. Excellent hotel from r family with kids

This hotel exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend the Family Concierge suites. The kids loved the private pool.

Let's get the good out of the way: The entire resort, staff, grounds, rooms, and ESPECIALLY food is exceptional. One of the best resorts in Playa Del Carmen. Very modern, well designed and incredibly kid friendly. The beach reviews were not accurate. The beach IS roomy, but a bit of a walk from the rooms and the ocean swimming area is small as the rest of the shore line is a bit rocky. But who cares? The resort has a trillion gallon pool if you want. And the dirty little trick: I take personal offence when I fall victim to unintentional charges. My ATM got locked, I needed to call my bank and get it fixed. Each ATM card has a toll-free international # you can call anywhere in the world FOR FREE, and each bank accepts all the charges. EXCEPT, in Mexico, they don't honor collect calls. A 38 minute call to my Bank form my room turned into a bill of.......you ready?? $240.08!!!!!!!!!! which is a rate of $7 a MINUTE!!! No reasonable person would ever make a call knowing the rate is $7 per minute. There were no signs, no warnings, no information in the room letting me know that. Every other information and fact about the hotel you can think of was provided, except the phone rate part. I tried to reason with management, explaining I had no idea about the Mexico phone regulations and the response was: I should've known Dear management: As you're reading this post and thinking of a way to respond, know this: If my call lasted another 30 min, it would be cheaper for me to fly back to the states, go to my bank, and return to Mexico, rather than call form your hotel. I fact, I can call the space station at a cheaper rate than $7 per minute. Don't hide the fact I wasn't made aware of your phone rates. When you greet arriving guests, skip the welcome drink and wet towels and warn the guest about your $7 PER MINUTE CALL RATE.

Awesome and well maintained hotel with great 5 star experience. Great food and restaurant choice. Cannot go wrong with this one. Checkin staff and bartenders could use more training to get better at what they do. Would readily recommend to everyone!

Great grounds. Beach was real dirty and water is very choppy. Adult pool is way better if you are with out kids. Overall great experience.

We loved it & are looking to go back again this year - the staff (Anna especially by the pool) was fantastic!!

We stayed at Paradisus La Esmeralda for a one week vacation at the end of march. We did not booked the family concierge option and we did not regret it because it is not Worth the extra money. The hotel itself is awesome and very clean and the rooms are spendid. The food in general was very good but not excellent. We don't give this hotel a 5 star review because of the beach. There is so much seaweed in the water and on the beach that it is impossible to get into the ocean. But if you are the type of person that prefers the pool, we can say that the pools are awesome!! ( esmeralda and Perla side ). I recommend this hotel to people who prefer the pool rather than the beach. If the beach is important : stay away.

We stayed 10 nights at Esmeralda. The room was large with separate bedroom so we had privacy from the kids. Pools and amenities were fantastic. The kids really enjoyed to pools, food, kids club (our stayed under 5 years) Staff was very good. Hotel is newer and very clean. Beach is not so great but there is a beach. Hotel is not right on the beach so Ocean View is not much of value. I highly recommend the hotel.
