The location was great but the hotel was not what I expected. The staff was great but the room could have been nice and cool for our arrival. The minibar could have been stocked. I almost got the impression that the room was not ready for us to check in. Overall it was ok.
The stairs are some type of wood and are mopped several times a week. There are no signs put up indicating the stairs are wet and I slipped and injured myself. Even if they do start putting up signs, take extra care- they can be more slippery than they look.
Great location nice room but the disco/head banging sound--can't call it music--until 1am every night takes the shine how great it was
friendly staff, middle of the strip, clean room, no elevator
Everyone was really nice at the hotel. I only dinged them on my review because we couldn't get any hot water, but we were only there for a night and it wasn't a huge deal for that amount of time for us personally. There was some noise from the street but we were expecting that and I was willing to accept that given the great location, its right off of 5th avenue which has A TON to do. I would stay again.
Great boutique hotel right at the corner of 5th and 8th. There is street noise, but you are far enough from 12th that you will not hear the nightclubs. This was my 2nd stay here, and would recommend it again
My room was comfy for the most part, didn't really like the open shower set up as the whole bathroom would get wet after a wash. AC was nice and cold... perfect for coming back in after a long day of running around
The hotel is situated in a great location. The street noise is pretty continuous until around 5am but we knew this in advance and had packed some ear plugs and had no problem sleeping at all. Its not obnoxious noise. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Stayed at ElPunto for Dec 12-17. The hotel and rooms are just what is portrayed on the website. Very new and modern. My only complaint is the noise. Like any hotel on 5th Ave, it's loud till late hours. 5th Ave is the main tourist street and doesn't die down until about 2-3am. Sometimes later depending on the season. The hotel has a beautiful rooftop lounge. Although if you're staying in the rooms, the traffic up to and from the lounge is an annoyance, especially if you're trying to sleep. The doors in the hotel rooms are not noise insulated and you can hear the footsteps and voices at all hours of the night. The free breakfast and use of the beach club was a great plus, if it wasn't for this, I would have to say that this hotel is not worth it. If I had to do it all again, I would book another hotel for less and away from 5th ave. Although I would definately come back to the rooftop lounge @ El Punto to have some drinks and shrimp tacos! Regarding Playa del Carmen.... My first time here and I loved it. I would definately recommend renting a car and driving South to Tulum for the day. Also, when dining out, try to stay away from 5th Ave. Everything is overpriced and usually not authentic. The farther inland you go the better and cheaper the food becomes.
Best of all, the location, excellent, rooms were not to big, but enough for a couple and BASIC commodities, a/c, flat tv... the hotel has got a really nice rooftop terrace with a bar and a fancy restaurant, and a plus for the breakfast at the beachclub, the staff from the reception, as well as the hotel were ver nice guys definitely recommend it, would improve the parking issue and maybe arrange a deal with a lot nearby
the hotle is in great location on the center of 5 av r rooms very clean and new recaption friendly price not expencive
If you're looking for a place close to the beach and action of Playa del Carmen, this is an excellent choice. There is no pool, but do you really need one if one of the best beaches in the world is a block away?Rooms are cozy and has all that you'll need: Big bed, Flat Screen, desk, safe, wi-fi, and view of 5th avenue. Yes, it may get noisy due to people buzzing along 5th avenue and musicians across the street, but that just let's you know you're alive. AND there's this really cool coffee maker that makes gourmet coffee and the refill cartridges are complimentary as well.I've been to Playa seven times in the last three years and this is definitely the best boutique hotel I've stayed at. There's also a restaurant & bar on the top level that's action packed at several nights. PLUS, the hotel was kind enough to give us complementary breakfast at the beachside club just several blocks away. Also, this hotel has the most beautiful reception staff in Playa. Always a pleasure to leave and go in the hotel, as well ask for towels & room keys. I don't know their names, but I just call them [...], [...], and [...] and I get smiles out of them. (Look it up :)Great hotel. Great location. Great Staff. PERIOD.
I liked the hotel location is convenience and just 5 mins from bus terminal. The room is cared and modern interior, I could use internet as free was important! Very close to beach too and eating breakfast at nice cafe where is beach side was nice. Breakfast was nice too! Fresh fruits, vegetable, bans, sweets, I stayed 3 night there, I enjoyed going there! Staff was friendly and enjoyed conversation with her. I like hotel amenities, they had put L'occitan, its my favorite. I want to come back when I go there again.
