Enjoy two pools in a lovely garden setting with birds and flowers galore. A great value and away from the noise of the mega resorts. The beach is a short drive away and there is a friendly restaurant right across the street. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I must say that I was a bit worried after having read some recent reviews of this hotel. However, it seems they have read the reviews are working on any issues that arose. We had a junior suite, which was just beautiful. It was very clean, & very private, surrounded by trees, flowers & wildlife. My only complaints would be the very hard bed, but I prefer a medium bed and the need for a screen on the window, so bugs stay outside. The WiFi was great in our room. The hammock on the deck is a great place to read & watch the birds. Yes, you can hear traffic & normally this would really bother as I hear no traffic where I live. However, I did not find it disturbing at all. Although the resort has no bar of it's own, you do have a mini fridge in which you can put your own drinks. There is a restaurant (Burger Bar) & bar across the street, with excellent food. The resort/hotel is gorgeous built in the middle of jungle. There are 2 very nice pools, with one in the middle of several empty buildings that must have been spa buildings in the past. At the moment, there are no spa services. The staff was very helpful with all of our needs. We booked a tour on our own, but needed transport, so they arranged for our transportation at a very good price. They were very accommodating with our late check-out, too. Yes, the beach is a very long walk, which I would not want to do. We asked about a drive there & they hired a taxi to take us there & they picked us up. The beach is gorgeous! It's that beautiful white sand, with turquoise water that we dream about. However, there were no loungers, so we had to sit on the sand. This was a bit disappointing. There is not much close by so a car would be very useful. It is 7 miles to Playa del Carmen & 7 miles to Puerto Morelos. There is horse back riding close by. And, you can get a very nice meal at Pavo Real by the Sea, where a shuttle takes you both ways. All in all, this is a 3.5* resort, so don't expect to have the facilities of a 5*. The price is great, the resort is lovely & the staff is very friendly & helpful. I would go back there in a minute, but I would have a car the next time.

Good value. Big and clean apartments of good standard. Very well maintained. Pretty garden between the houses. Two big pools. The drawback is the distance to the beach, a 20 minutes’ walk, unless you drive. You will have a well kept beach almost to yourself if you go there.

If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy the nature this is the right one. Simple, nice and relaxing hotel. The best of they offer is the private beach, is not by the hotel, you need to move around 5 minutes by car, and they also provide transfer. The staff is kind, and polite. The continental breakfast is just fine, they offer fruit, juice, coffee, tea, breads, but there are some other options that are not include. I won't recommend for a family trip, they don't have entertainment for the kids.

Good: Beautiful setting, lovely staff, nice pools, fantastic beach Not so good: I am a walker and did NOT walk to the beach (kudos to those who say they do). It is a 10 minute drive at least, through many checkpoints and there is nowhere to buy food and drinks so to walk you would have to carry your towels, a cooler with food and drink, sunscreen, hats etc. Therefore, in my opinion, a car is a MUST!!! Even then, it makes for a lot of driving back and forth. The path nearer to the beach is pretty but walking along the road to get to that path is long and boring with a fair few cars. Also, this place is SURROUNDED by large all-inclusives so there really isn't much to do there except go into Playa or eat at Burger Stop which was okay but not for every meal. There were no cushions on the chairs and though the breaky had a nice little plate of fruit and rolls, it was far to much bread and no protein (why not add a little dish of yogurt?). Beds were okay (2 doubles-I prefer a king) and the pillows not great. Overall, it would be a great stay for a couple of days and with a car but terrible for a week and no car, unless you are looking to do NOTHING literally. We were with 2 22 year olds and they were bored.

The secluded bungalow type accommodation is lovely and they are kept very clean. Each has a terrace with a hammock. We LOVED the tropical gardens surrounding the whole place, and, unlike a contributor on we only discovered 2 cats (they discovered us!), who were neither sad nor particularly skinny, although being cat lovers we did feed them. I asked and was told they have a neutering programme in place together with a local animal charity but in my view both these young (approx.6 month) females were pregnant. Apart from Monse, who is just an amazing employee and they are SO lucky to have her, the service is hit and miss at best. Beware the 'thin man' on reception who tried to put at least 100 pesos extra on a taxi price, insisting we pay the hotel not the cab driver! It's a scam. Walk 75 yards to the taxi depot and get your own. Apart from Monse, without whom we would've been given NO info at all about trips, activities, etc the reception and guest service is almost non- existent. We weren't told even the basics, like beach towels could be collected from behind reception and didn't know there was a shop on site until the 3rd day, in conversation with Monse, as she was not on duty when we checked in. Ask for her if you want to know anything. She also speaks very good English if, like us, your Spanish is embarrassingly poor. We suggested an information folder be put together in various languages and placed in every room, which they thought was a great idea. My husband however is cynical that this will ever materialise. Monse also seems to be the mainstay for transporting guests back and forth to the beach in her car which is an hour round trip to walk. (In THAT heat??) If she isn't available you have to abandon your plans. I suggested to the manager he set up a shuttle service to the beach using the young gardeners (who simply sweep leaves every day) and the (one) golf cart, to which he replied 'they drive too fast'. Sorry Horatio but this is pathetic and lame. Sort it out.... The ladies toilet and shower at the beach is APPALLING! (Strangely it seems only the Gents has been renovated as it's lovely!) The fittings are rusty and the dark, dilapidated building smells like a sewer. There are only 3 or 4 umbrellas with a tiny number of sun loungers, NONE of which have any sort of mattress on. Maybe if you're 20-35 you can spend time lying on wooden/ plastic slats but being somewhat more mature than that we can't and won't. We ended up walking 500 metres up the beach to the sister hotel Kin Sol Soleil both to avail ourselves of their fantastically comfortable beach loungers and their equally fantastic beach snack menu. Don't expect to be able to sunbathe and relax round the pool at the Amarte if you can't get a lift to the beach either. There was no pool furniture set out. My husband had to drag 2 wooden loungers out of a storage building (no staff around to help apart from the 'pool boy' who we caught asleep) but then, as with the beach loungers, there are no mattresses for them. We carried our huge and heavy sofa seat cushions from the bungalow just so we could use the loungers. A mini rant from me to a staff member to get some mattresses before the end of the week went unheeded. As with other contributors, we found the Burger Stop across the road as the only eatery unacceptable, but were told during our stay that the go- ahead for an on- site restaurant had just been granted. Good news if it happens. However, having seen reviews from a year ago about unfinished areas around the pool (there is NO SPA/ WELLNESS CENTRE/ YOGA CLASSES) it seems little has changed. The final insult for us was that after phoning our room to tell us the taxi to the airport had arrived, no one came to help with our heavy suitcases. I dragged it through the beautiful jungle gardens until one of the lovely, shy young gardeners offered to take it from me. I gave him a decent tip. The thin man stood and watched..... Our overall view is that the Amarte has SO MUCH POTENTIAL which is not being achieved. It needs staff development and training and strong leadership together with a cash injection to finish the incomplete areas. If it can achieve this it really would be an oasis in paradise.

We had bungalow 3 and were absolutely delighted. It was situated close to the smaller of the two pools which only we ever used during our stay. The grounds are fabulous. Pathways snake amongst luxurious vegetation with the bungalows arranged to give maximum privacy. We found it quiet and tranquil. The beach was a 35 minute walk away and there was an area set aside with toilets, showers and sun beds. An amazing beach which we thoroughly appreciated. Our room was large with a seating area, comfortable bed and walk-in shower plus all the other features expected in a hotel of this standard. Great accommodation. There was also a kitchen area with fridge and sink but no tea/coffee, kettle or mugs which considering that the only place to get a drink was a good walk away was disappointing. Without a car it is quite isolated but it suited us very nicely. The Burger Bar, the only place to eat and where the included basic breakfast was served, had a good variety of meals at very reasonable prices. The food was first rate and most of the staff very personable. If you book a taxi to the airport at reception it costs 900pesos, if booked at the taxi parking area by the Burger Bar it costs 730pesos - same taxi, same pick up at hotel entrance! I just wondered why! We spent the last three nights of our holiday in the Yucatan here and it was a perfect relaxing finale to our holiday.

Great place between the nice village of Puerto morelos and the crowded playa del carmen. Very nice bungalows in a wonderful tropical garden. The crew was very helpful. Private beach at a few minutes riding. Great restaurants around.

This is a beautiful jungle oasis with guest rooms scattered throughout very beautifully maintained grounds. They mean it to be very restful and peaceful, and indeed it is. Our room also looked very pretty and clean, with simple but pleasant elegant decor. This place is not near a beach (maybe a mile or 1-1/2 miles from the water) but there is beach access for Amarte guests. (The beaches in this area are spectacular, if you haven't been to one before.) The hotel is just off route 307, the main highway along the coast, and I was initially afraid that the traffic noise would be disturbing; that hasn't been a problem, however. There is enough of a buffer provided by the jungle vegetation that you barely hear road noise when you're walking around the grounds, and no noise when you're in your room. They don't have their own restaurant, but there is a place called Burger Stop right at the entrance that serves standard Mexican fare plus a meat-heavy assortment of artery-clogging steaks, ribs, burgers and some chicken also, not to mention pork in its many guises (shredded pork, pork sausage). If you're a vegetarian, you can have your fill of Greek salad or guacamole. But I digress! This is a really nice hotel, with lots of visual appeal. I'm glad we came here, would come again if we ever return to this part of the world.

What a great place! We spent a week here and loved it all. The room was lovely, great shower and spacious bedroom with a fridge. It's a pity there is no sun shining right into the room as it would be brighter, but on the other hand you have a very green view from your bedroom, as if you're in the jungle. The pools are gorgeous too and the beach has pristine white sand on blue water. The hotel is a 20 minute run to the beach, but you can arrange to be driven there too. Staff are attentive, friendly and helpful.
