Great food. Had to turn down 1st two rooms. One room musty odor. 2nd one looked like it wasn't that clean. 3rd was fine. Payed for shuttle service to and from hotel. When we went to get shuttle to airport,it left without us. Didn't know what time to meet it.flight was at 4pm.was in lobby 11:10 am. Front desk finally contacted supershuttle.they wouldn't send another shuttle. Paid taxi 45.00 US to airport. This was unacceptable. Front desk ,in my experience should have picked up the taxi fare.there is something called customer satisfaction.

Our overall stay was pretty average. We were not real impressed with anything. Upon arrival check in was a little unorganized. We had to wait on a room. We did upgrade to "privileged". I'm glad we did, as Beloved was where we ate the most. If not, we would have been limited to buffets for lunch and breakfast. I'm not a fan of categorizing people with different arm bands... We have never experienced this at other resorts. Food was nothing special and the restaurants all seemed under staffed. It took a long time for service, food, & drinks everywhere we went. Beer is all draft & mixed drinks are very sweet. The staff morale seemed low and reflected in the service we received. We even tipped generously and didn't seem to change anything. We were also annoyed by the camera people that want to take your pictures every day. When I'm relaxing by the pool I don't want to pose for photos. They even showed up at supper one night! We kindly said no, but they were kind of pushy. I'm sure it's a great place if you have nothing to compare it to, but we've been to better.

Great beach, friendly staff, food was very good. Mostly couples or couples traveling together. Had perfect weather everyday. Took the collectivo to Playa del Carmen, Tulum ruins, and to Akumal Bay to snorkel with wild sea turtles (saw at least a dozen). We did not pay for guided tours at either Tulum or Akumal Bay and had a great time. We found the Collectivo (minivan public transport) to be safe, clean, convenient and very cheap (about $2USD in pesos per person each way). I followed the advice on this site to politely but pointedly decline the sales pitch for the Club (time share). After the intial pitch right after check-in, we cut it off after a few minutes and were never contacted again the rest of our stay. Had a wonderful stay at CRT. Would definitely go back

Orbitz contacted and working toward a resolution. Worst property ever. Severe communication problems as no staff member speaks English.

We recommend this hotel to people who are looking for a decent all inclusive place but a bit budget conscious. It's a beautiful place. We loved the beach and the nature that surrounds this hotel. The staff members are so great. They are all kind and willing to help you. We enjoyed the stay 100 percent. We cannot say that foods here were good. If you stay in a privilege room, it will allow you to eat at a restaurant called Bloved, which was the only restaurant that was decent and worth going back for. The room is OK but nothing too special. It is comfortable and we loved the view of nature and animals we can find. You will not get an ocean view but it isn't important for us. This was a first resort we stayed that did not have a Jacuzzi tab in the room but then again it was less expensive than other places we have stayed so it's fine. We enjoyed the trip and loved the people who worked there. This is more a casual resort compared to others we have stayed.

Food was very good at the restaurants I visited...Bloved(only for Privileged guests) Steak house, Main buffet. Asian. Drinks were very good at pool bar. Pool so is large so that the pool service was a little slow getting around the pool, but was never a problem for us. Friendly service everywhere. Beach is absolutely stunning. Lots of chairs at pool and beach. Never a problem getting a chair at either. Privileged guests had their own beach chairs roped off...I was a privileged guest and never used them. Rooms are along a stone pathway from the lobby to the beach/pool area..Privileged guests rooms are in building closest to the beach..No room is "beachfront" because you are in a jungle with lots of wildlife...Animals you do not see in the U.S. Beautiful birds everywhere. Peaceful just sitting on your deck and looking into the jungle area. Just beautiful. Breezy at night so a light jacket was needed for the nightly entertainment. I took bug spray and never used it. A lot of the restaurants are outdoors settings and there is really no need for men to take long trousers...Shorts and a nice shirt are welcome at the restaurants. Room service was worth it...Bring comfortable shoes for your walk on the stone pathway. It was not a problem for us, but I could see if you have sensitive feet that it could be..Although if you do not feel like walking they will pick you up in a golf cart and take you wherever you need to go within the resort...Just dial 0. Plenty of hot water for showers.

This is nice hotel in a great beach. The go out of their way to make sure your stats is great.

Beautiful beach, excellent staff, clean, good service, food, and entertainment. Will return for sure.

Great service friendly stuff beautiful beach delicious food and drinks.

Room was nice a little dark but there's just so much jungle around, hard for sun light to come in.

Our second stay at this resort. It gets better each year!

Great personnel and cozy environment. Nice beach and relaxed environment

It was our second vacation at Catalonia Royal Tulum. Hotel has a very nice beach, and in order to get there from your room you have to walk through a jungle part of the resort. Very beautiful! Pool doesn't have a swim up bar, but waiters always walk around and if you tip them they will come back faster to get you another drink :) Our favorite restaurants were Spanish Tapas place and Italian. Do remember to bring bug repellent cause you will need it at night!

They treat like second class if you don't upgrade to privilege which is about 70 extra per day! Too many rules for us po folks , where you can sit on the beach, which bar you can drink from no bloved beach bar! you have to walk to the pool to get drinks oh and drinks no top shelf for your un privilege people you get water down crap... Staff also took 80 bucks from my clothes I left on the floor in my room losers!!!!

This was an amazing hotel. The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beach was beautiful and close. And the best part is that it wasn't too crowded. We went to a different hotel and got a tour there. That place was very crowded. The pool was stuffed with so many people you wouldn't be able to swim. The Royal Tulum had much more space for the amount of people there, and was a much more relaxed atmosphere.

Best place ever in the middle of the nature wonderful service and staff ... Good food on the buffet and best food in the other restaurant of the resort ... ( food as a Michelin stars) I will be back

It's a really beautiful hotel, but if you want to relax on the beach in luxury, you need to get a Privileged package because the regular beach, lounge chairs are very close to each other and it gets very crowded and some people get very loud..... Also, when you come in they will ask you to sit and eat breakfast with them and listen about TImeshare, they say its not timeshare, but it is , you spend there 2 hours and they promise to give you a free Lobster dinner, they do not give you a free lobster dinner, they give you a coupon, with $30 off of the Lobster Dinner....I would recommend , don't waste your time, go and relax on the beach, instead..... another thing, I think they need to hire more waiters.....

The weeks stay was great! Relax stress free! Great resort beautiful beach. Happy staff everyone was so nice and always greeting you with a smile. Will go back again!

Great bartenders! Fun activities at the pool. Slow room service.

Catalonia far exceeded our expectations. The staff was amazingly friendly and accommodating. Service was superb. Food and drinks were good quality and well prepared. The resort itself was beautiful, updated, refreshing, and vibrant. This place was just the right size and very relaxing. Location was great too very close to cenotes, Mayan ruins, scuba/snorkel, and some of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. My wife and I had wonderful experience staying here, and would highly recommend it to anyone.
