Excellent resort. Small but worth it. Lots of wildlife, frindly staff, and beautiful beach. Food was amazing (especially the Italian restaurant) drinks were watered down and too sweet. Unfortunately there was a lot of seaweed washing up, the staff worked hard to clear it but it did hinder our beach activities. This wasn’t the resort’s fault obviously. We enjoyed our stay; would recommend if you prefer smaller resorts. (Also, bring hair conditioner, they only have have a shampoo+ conditioner combo which if you‘re a woman, you’ll know that won’t work)

We were at this resort some five years ago and had a wonderful time, Unfortunately this time there were unbelievably large flotilla of sea weeds in the water huge deposits of same on the beach! It was not very comfortable going in the water nor walking the beach. This is act of nature and we can't blame the hotel which was amazing with the new a la cart restaurants.

Pros: Amazing Staff Super polite, attentive and hard working people. Please be kind and tip everyone who takes good care of you. YOU CAN AFFORD TO TIP! And If you don’t tip your drivers, bellboys, maids and restaurant staff- there must be something wrong with you. Pros: Very nice beach. No rocks, clean sand, free kayaks available at all times. You can take beach walks for miles each way. Very relaxing. Pros: Pool Brand new, with swim up bar. Shallow and deep parts. Kids and adults love it. Pros: Food Many options during the day and evening. People might expect things- but they don’t want to pay for them. Seafood options are limited- but your budget is also limited- that’s why you booked this hotel. You don’t expect BMW experience when you have money to buy Toyota. It will be nice, but not OMG. 5 different restaurants + buffet, snacks. We like everything about this hotel, that’s why we keep coming back. However, front desk and privileged check in area should have a little friendlier and more proactive staff. Front desk gets bothered the most, but they should expect that and hire people who can always resolve problems without any BS excuses. So, if the room needs to be changed for any reason - patrons don’t have to wait “until the next morning” to change the room in a half empty hotel- it should be done immediately. * Special thanks to Augustine from Italian and all Breakfast crew from privileged restaurant- these guys are the best!

This "Resort" is proof that you get what you pay for. It has the potential to be much better, but unfortunately the quality of service and the actitude of the staff in general is not up to the level of similar Resorts in the Riviera Maya. The Ala carte restaurants are good ,in my opinion the Mexican restaurant is the best by far starting with Rodrigo the manager ,he genuinely care about the guests and the staff under his leadership is great. The liquor at the bars is very limited compare to other all inclusive in the area and the beer unfortunately doesn't taste good at all. I'm a beer drinker decided to drink mostly Tequila Sunrise during the day with fresh Orange juice from the fresh fruits bar (one of my favorite places at the Resort ). Jorge from the club is very professional and will make you feel welcome right away, also Miguel from public relations will do everything he can to make you happy about your stay . The guys at the coffee shop are also great same as Moises at the Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately cannot say the same about the guys at the bar in from of the beach or the lobby. We may come back if the price is right.

We booked this hotel because of the reviews of the beach. Yes, it was as perfect as all have said. Upon checkin. We were upgraded to vip which included privilege status ( closer to beach room, speciality restaurant, room service, etc) This made our stay even better And why i love this resirt. Now i have stayed at many all inclusives and usually after 3 days im over the food. I am shocked that more people are not going off about how amazing the food is in the privileged vip restaurant. Seriously the food was EXCELLENT especially at lunch, which I was not expecting. I was completely shocked how great it was and am actually craving it! The service was really good and the staff was so friendly and always made sure I had a drink in my hand at the beach♥️ Some other cool things were: 1)cotais will greet you everyday on your walk from the lobby to the beach 2) coffee bar (desserts too) near priveleged 3) beach and soft sand . You can actually walk down the beach and go exploring 4) they have cocktail staff serving you at your beach chair❤️ 5)smaller resort, more personalized service 6) darling signs throughout the resort for romance and photo moments 7) if you have any issues they go above and beyond to fix it! excellent managem

Beautiful grounds and beach. Staff was pleasant and friendly. Bring mosquito spray.

I vacationed with 2 small kids and it was a nice surprise to see that I can get to everywhere with a stroller. The staff was nice except for occasional language barrier. The food was ok, I didnt care for most of it, but maybe it's just me. There was a great variety, so you won't go hungry.

The beach is absolutely breath taking. Staff is very nice and always trying to go out of their way to make your experience more enjoyable. The buffet had options for everyone and the options were different every single day! We were upgraded to privileged status because we booked thru Expedia so that was a plus! The rooms were large and had everything we needed. The restaurants also have a wide variety, the steak house was my favorite! This was our second trip to Mexico and will not be our last! This place has beautiful gardens with many different species of animals, its like being in the jungle. Catalonia rocks! : )

Our stay was amazing. As gold orbitz members, we were upgraded to privledge for free. We were taken to the privledge area to check-in which was fast and pleasant. The room was beautiful by the garden with a large terrace. The bartenders Juan and Juan were outstanding. They became our 8 year old daugter's best friends, even coming to bring help for her swimmer's ear. Shout out to Sonya and the two other fantastic Italiano guys in the photo shop, although we couldn't afford to buy a big package, they still came around to show our daughter the birds and lizards each day, it really made her stay here special. The only one area of opportunity here would be the snackbar, being a beach-lover, I preferred to stay by the pool and beach which left the main option the snackbar which didn't have very many options. The lunch buffet was good but it's by the lobby and that's a ways from the beach. The new restaurants are just opening up, Italian was great, Mexican so-so, and steakhouse food and service great however we were forced to leave halfway through our meal because the venalation system failed which caused a smokeout-babies were coughing and it was unbearable, almost everyone walked out. Last thing, beware of the Exclusive Traveler Club Scam here.

My experience i like the hotel but i didnt enjoyed the food it wasnt taste i didnt thing was a chef cooking there the chicken in grill no well done and i dindt like rice bad

Great staff, best beach, good food in restaurants. All restaurants newly renovated, very beautiful. Can improve on WiFi service. We enjoyed our stay.

My favorite part about this resort is that is was a little smaller and a little more private with an INCREDIBLE beach! The water is turquoise and the sand is white and smooth. Also the resort does have a swim up bar now but it wasn't quit open yet. I presume it will be open in the next couple weeks. Beautiful resort and very nice staff. I would definitely go back again!

We just returned from a 16 day trip to Catalonia Playa Meroma and loved every minute of it! This was our second stay at this resort, our 10th visit to Rivera Maya. We were upgraded to Priviledged thanks to Orbitz VIP status! We were surprised how many of the staff remembered us from last year. These people work so hard to make your stay the best possible. The new pool was open and is BEAUTIFUL! The swim up bar opened the day we left. The restaurant upgrades won't be done for a little while yet. They have done an excellent job with the temporary set up of the specialty restaurants around the property and have opened the new Sushi place. You will never go hungry, the variety is awesome. The food carts near the pool/beach and the small buffet was a very smart upgrade (and saved a long walk to the other end of the resort for the lunch meal). Rooms were clean and modern. The bed was comfortable (in fact we were NOT looking forward to our own bed when we got home!!). Our number 1 reason for this resort is the fabulous beach, one of the top ten in the world!

Houtel should have closed while remodeling. Over half of the facilities were closed, but they still charge fuñl rate.

Nice hotel and beach, good experience, good food, peaceful place

We came here on our honeymoon just recently and it was the best experience of our lives. First off, the staff was just beyond stellar. They were so nice, attentive and very helpful. We stayed in the honeymoon suite and it was so beautiful. Very clean and they kept the temperature of the room very cool. The pool area was beautiful. My only complaint there was the water was way too warm but i guess thats to be expected given the climate. The beach was also beautiful. Lots of seaweed but they did a great job at keeping it clean. The food: probably thr best I've ever had. I highly recommend the Tapas Terrace above the pool bar. Overall, i would go back to this resort many many more times!

I just got back from 6 days in paradise! I took my mom for Mother's Day and we'll never forget this trip. I do not have one single complaint. If there are bad reviews, it's because people have unrealistic expectations or there were underlying circumstances. First of all, the staff was so accommodating and made us feel so welcome. They really made the trips so enjoyable. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the beach was one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. The food was good. Even the buffet (which we only ate at once). I'm a gluten-free vegetarian and didn't go hungry. Every place had more than 1 or 2 options for me to choose from. The Terrace was our favorite! It alone is worth the upgrade to Privileged. There are a lot of resorts to choose from and I'm so glad I choose this one. Do yourself a favor and book here! I'll be back! Also, Expedia/Orbits sent us up a tray of chocolate and fruit on our last day to say thanks! Bonus point.

We spent 5 nights at the Privileged Maroma. It was gorgeous, relaxing, and really perfect! The food, service, and scenery were impressive! I would definitely return. Only thing I didn't like which wasn't a big deal was that our room's shower never got hot. The staff are all friendly and very service oriented. It was paradise!

We had a nice time at the hotel, the beach is beautiful

This was our 3rd time at this resort and won't be our last! The entire staff is wonderful and people truly seem to enjoy where they work. The food was good with lots of variety and the Ala Carte Restaurants were also nice. They have plenty of beach chairs both at the beach and the pool and they are the nice ones, as opposed to other resorts where they are made of canvas and sag over time. The beach service is wonderful, and the spa as well.
