The hotel was nice the rooms are comfy. We go almost very year to either cancun or playa del carmen mostly because we love being in the ocean we were very disappointed that you couldn't go in the water to much sea weed, you would think that they would have found a way to have the ocean some what clear. The pool was great very big there was always chairs available. The food was good my husband likes sea food and there was not to much of that available. One down fault to us was that there was not a buffet open for dinner so if you did not make reservation to one of the specialty restaurants there was nothing to eat after five pm. The staff was great just watch out for the circle one reps trying to have you sit thru a meal and offer their services. I loved all the animals around racoons, ant eaters and even a dear. Most important if your going to relax and rest this is not the hotel to be at to many teens in the middle of the night yelling from one side of the hall way to the other. They should have security guards going around each one of the buildings to maintain order. Walls are very thin you can hear everything I mean everything. also in the black and white bar they do have pool tables and air hockey but you have to pay to use this is the time we encounter this in an all inclusive resort. The shows are good.

Great hotel location, food was very good especially for an all inclusive. 2 areas to improve: air conditioning or fans in the restaurants; it was extremely hot inside and uncomfortable at times. The steak and seafood restaurant could use fans and keep the doors open for a nice breeze by the water. The second is to be a little more relaxed with the pool towel cards; guests leave them in the room sometimes and cannot get a new towel without exchanging old ones or having a towel card. Overall great hotel. I would return. Please get a/c or fans.

The hotel personnel is not nice at all, the do whatever they want they don't even care if you are in the room and open the door 7am, they never know anything, they called me 1 am to ask who was staying in my room or if was alone really disturbing. They were bugs in the room we had. There is no clean useful beach infront of the hotel, food is no good.

Awesome place! Great location and wonderful interactive staff.

This was our 6th (?) Mexico visit so we've seen all the goods and bads and had something to compare this visit to. First the good stuff: food, food, food. Great variety, 6 or so restaurants..Awesome huge pool, pretty clean too. We also had a small private pool which we didn't really use. We did enjoy the convenience of the on-site kids club. Friendly staff and we felt safe sending there our 8 y/o pretty much daily. Now the negatives: beach was a disaster. While they tried to clean up the seaweed as much as they could.. everything else was nasty. Cigarette butts, dirty sand, trash... if I ran the resort this would have been on my day #1 to-do. AC in the room was very weak and was leaking. They fixed the leak; started again two days later. Room service was horrendous. Our room was cleaned every other day and we had to ask. Perhaps it was due to its location at the end of the hall by the public bathroom (this part actually didn't bother us much)....... The resort was infested with "Mexican raccoons" (basically a rat with a cat tail) and they were everywhere, all over the trash bins. Drinks were good but then my wife witnessed how they washed the plastic cups. While the resort had enough cover/shade/umbrellas, you still have to get up at 7 to "reserve" your spots or else you are out in the bare sun. Overall this was an OK/good experience (definitely not the worst) but we would not come back.

Great pool; good food; great service; beach was not good(very small and lot of sea weed) ;alcohol was watered down

This an excellent hotel to rest , good food, friendly employees, good location, the beach is not the best but it's not the hotel fault, the animation team is a plus. One of the main pool by the beach is under renovation but it didn't bother us.If you are like us that love the wild life you will fall in love with all of them.To eat in the a la carte restaurant you might need to make reservation one day ahead. The a/c work fine in our room which is a plus after a long day hanging in the beach, I would like to recomend this hotel to my friends and family , see you next year Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda.I would to thanks to all the employees of this beautiful hotel that made our vacation unforgettable.

very good hotel, but the trouble is when they try to sell the membership treat you badly but you buy

Great Resort and location. Food was good and with wide variety. Great value for the price. Staff was friendly.

We got an excellent deal on our vacation and for the money! The resort was nice and clean, comfortable and overall fun! My fiancé and I had an excellent stay.

ROOM HAD ROACHES AND WHEN BROUGHT TO THEIR ATTENTION, WAS TOLD WHAT DO YOU EXPECT, YOU'RE IN A JUNGLE. ASKED FOR EXTRA TOWELS TO COVER THE DAMP/SLIPPERY FLOOR AND WAS TOLD WE THERE WAS A LIMIT OF (2) MORE BECAUSE OTHER ROOMS NEEDED TOWELS AS WELL. DIRTY BREAKFAST DISH REMAINED ON THE DRESSER AFTER HOUSEKEEPING SERVICED ROOM. HAD TO PAY WI-FI COST FOR EACH ADD'L DEVICE ABOVE (1). LUNCH AND DINNER WAS BARELY EDIBLE. HAD EARLY CHECK-OUT @ 4:30AM AND GOLF CART/SHUTTLE WAS 30 MIN LATE EVEN THOUGH WE REQUESTED CART NIGHT BEFORE THEN DRIVER COULD NOT BE BOTHERED TO RETRIEVE OUR LUGGAGE FROM ROOM, HAD TO BRING TO HIM INSTEAD. VERY DISAPPOINTED ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THE AVG PRICE PER NIGHT OF $400+.

The hotel not meet my expectations , beach not good, service not good

We had a great time, it was our 5th time at Bluebay! They are very accomodating (we asked for a room change closer to the main pool-they changed it the next morning like they had promised). The food was outstanding!! We got to Riviera Maya twice a year, and it is the hotel with the best food. The rooms were very clean. Overall, it was a fantastic hotel!

The beach is dredged in and a little sketchy, but the hotel is beautiful, the food is plentiful, and it's very relaxing.

The grounds are nice and large but they have a cart shuttle if you don't feel like walking. Not far away is a cenote river that dumps into the sea. It is highly recommended. To get there go down to the beach and facing the ocean make a left and walk about about half a kilometer.

Overall Blue Bay is a great resort and service in general is great. Unfortunately a couple incidents happened when we arrived such as the front desk personnel treating in a not so politely manner. Then we had to walk carrying our luggage and kids for about a mile to our room. the rest of our stay was pleasant and had a great time.

Great experience! Great staff and the food was delicious.

Resort was very scenic and rooms were clean, however the food, drink and service was just ok! Our air conditioner didn't work all that great but we were able to get cooled down from the ceiling fan. When we called for roomservice 3 different times for different things it took forever for them to respond. Once it wasn't until the next day. The restaurant's you had to make reservations at had bad service and food wasn't all that good. Buffet food was much better. Don't think we would return to this resort again.

The resort is huge so expect a lot of walking. Switched rooms about 3 times due to a/c not working and such but would stay again for the price.
