Bedding was comfortable. The hotel has good quality mattresses. Sleep quality was ok; sometimes drunken crowd has bothered us.

The food was good. The pools and Beach were great. Very relaxing trip. Will definitely return.

Our trip was extremely disappointing in service, hospitality and convenience. The day we arrived, they put us in the worst room. Now mind you the hotel was half empty at the time. This room is in the last building and in the last room! We have three small children. To Place us in the farthest room is inconvenient and honestly it's offensive! Especially since the hotel was empty! In the evening, I called housekeeping to make up the children's beds. It took three calls and 2 hours later for the beds to be made. It was 22:15 at the time! My children are five and 8 years old. So the next day we complained about the room location and they moved us to another room.. The room location was great but the air conditioner did not work properly! We had to wait until the next day to have it fixed. Not only that, the drainage wasn't working properly, the phones needed to be fixed, and the sinks would overflow. What kind of luxury hotel is this? Disgusted with the resort, we could not wait too leave. Is this what we should expect from a nice, high end vacation? To worry about how uncomfortable we were? No! It should be care free and relaxing! To ends it all, as we were packing we saw all these little bugs all over the closet floors!

We could not have been more pleased. Everything was more than expected. Rooms were VERY clean and it seems they have thought of everything from the "sofa beds" to the rack on the patio to hand wet clothes to dry. The staff was always friendly and helpful. The only thing that I would say needs work, is the check in process. It was a bit long but the good thing was we were considered "premium guest" so the wait was in air condition and they had snacks and drinks available while waiting. When we were taken to check in, it wasn't communicated what to expect, but over all the process worked, it just took a while. Facilities were amazing from the pools to the aquatic sports center, to the ocean access and showers to rinse when coming in from the beach. The beach was GREAT, sea turtles EVERYWHERE and again, very clean beached. There is a lot of walking at this property but well worth it. Love the way it was laid out, just take good walking shoes. Will definitely stay again!

Awful service people are not helpful checking in is awful no food at the pool never will go there again

We stayed at the Palace for 6 nts last week. The rooms are very nice. Spacious, clean, nice bathroom. They give you toothpaste, cheap tooth brush, cheap shaver, bath salts, comb, loofa body scrubber mitt, in addition to the regular stuff. That was a nice touch. they also give you extra beach towels. The resort includes 5 resorts & is so huge, they have a double decker bus to transport folks to diff parts. The sheets on the bed were absurdly loud. I don't know how or why, but they were. Combined with a loud mattress that sounded like a crib mattress (loud plastic covers) -- it woke us up anytime anyone moved. It was really awful. Pros: great hydro therapy at the spa. Dolphin experience on the property Room size If you have young kids, this place has lots for them to do. All the restaurant and buffet staff, except for La Fuente were wonderful Fitness center Cons: Loud beds If you dont have young kids, and/or you prefer a quieter vacation, this may not be the place for you. Personally, I would not honeymoon here. No bar foods or snacks - probably because it would be very messy with so many young kids. Breakfast and lunch and snacks are only served buffet style. we went off property to eat a couple days. Ridiculously hard to get reservations at restaurants Caribe was not good Some of the bar staff at the pool were indifferent to serving people. I get it, it's long days, 6 days a week. no beach wait staff (there is at pool) Mosquitos

Rooms and amenities were fine. We felt safe and all ages were very happy. Good resort.

Well, first of all they make us to pay for the wifi n on top of that's I got sick from ate the lobster. The shuttle bus left us and we end up hv to pay 145$ dollar to get to tulum, horrible.

We always have stayed at the Barcelo resort - we would like to try someplace else but Barcelos beach is outstanding with no crowds, since the property is so large. Over 1 mile of Mexico sugar sand. The food is outstanding and the wait staff is excellent.

My husband and I came to Riviera Maya for my birthday. When we arrived we were given a room in the Oaxcala building. It was in the garden section of hotel on first floor. On entering, there was a very musty odor (like moldy). I went to concierge to let them.know. The rep said he would send someone to clean the room. I said it had nothing to do with cleanliness. He then said he would try and change our room. Unfortunately, this did not happen. This was an issue that I had since I do have allergies. Overall, the service was great. The entire staff were very hospitable and helpful. Food was great and location was simply beautiful. Again, my only issue was the room with the musty odor. I'm.sure there had to be rooms within the hotel that were on a higher floor without this smell.

My husband and I came to Riviera Maya to celebrate my birthday. We were given a room in the garden section, Oaxacala. Our room was on the 1st floor. On entering, there was a very strong musty odor (like moldy). I returned to the concierge to tell them about this. One of the reps said they were going to look into it, possibly try and clean. I said it had nothing to do with cleanliness, it was from the location. (I'm sure the other rooms on that floor had it too). Gentleman said he was going to try and get us to another room, however this never happened. This was my only issue. Overall, the service was good and everyone was very hospitable and helpful.

We came back from the trip to Barceló yesterday and as always the hotel did not disappoint us. It was our 4th stay at Barceló in Riviera Maya and both our children, my husband and I loved every minute there. Great location, very friendly staff and awesome food. It's like being in paradise.

From the start everything was great. GRAYLINE TRANSPORTATION IS AWESOME! They were fantastic. From the rose and the ice cold water they gave us at the start to the best driver on the way back. I do wish we would have upgraded to private transportation, but it was fun to see the other hotels. We only stopped at two other hotels on the way, but when you are itching to get your vacation on, it takes forever. There also was a monsoon at the time, so a couple roads were impassable and it took a little longer to get to one hotel. We were the last one so of course we waited. But we were ok with waiting. October is the month to go when it is a nicer pace and population of tourists. Our hotel was immaculate, the food was great, the buffets were great, the beach was great, we had the best time. We were pampered at the restaurants and buffets. We fed the turtles bananas from our hands both freaky and fun! We found the best snorkeling at the hotel's beach. We had paid for an excursion to Cozumel for snorkeling and that was so/so. We rode the Collectivos to Tulum and Akumal. An insider tip if you go to Akumal, there are TONS of people selling trips, you do not NEED to purchase a guide to snorkel at the beach. Having said that we only saw 1 turtle snorkeling and we saw several at the BARCELO. Playa Del Carmen was a little disgusting at first because of all the rain, the sewers backed up: in the shopping district. Don't wear sandals in a monsoon! Lesson learned. We ate a delicious Mexican Restaurant right on the main drag in PDC, Mu Puebla, (we think it is called that) anyway the waiter was so attentive, and had us trying freshly made tortillas, the tacos were fantastic!!!! All in all we would definitely go back and stay at THE BARCELO MAYA PALACE. We loved it. I think we left our heart there as well.

This was our 5th time returning to this resort. We enjoy so many things about this resort. We enjoy the reef that is so close for us to snorkel every day. They have turtles swimming in the water, don't need a snorkel to see them. I wish that they would have signs up telling people NOT to feed them or to TOUCH them. The food is great at the buffets. Breakfast is great, we had a favorite waiter named Ruben. Who had a cheerful smile every morning and started our day off right with a coffee and /or mimosa. The food is also very good at the ala carte restaurants, especially the French restaurant. Where Juan served us our Lobster cappuccino's. And Caribe also excellent, served by Gabriel who makes an amazing Mayan coffee. Only criticism, we would have liked them to list the nightly entertainment at Beach/Caribe and Tropical/Colonial. So if there was a show at the other resorts, we would have been aware and could have gone to. Also don't be deceived by the map and think the resort is too big to walk from one resort to another. We found we would rather walk than take the shuttle. We found walking was quicker and felt good after sitting and relaxing all day. Every staff member we met was friendly and happy to assist us as needed. Can hardly wait to return next year.

We were on a family trip with some friends. Hotel was clean and well kept. Room was if good size but I expected 2 queen size beds but they were full, if that. But they were the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept on!! Wifi was very slow and only available in the room or lobby. In2015 it should be readily available everywhere. Food was just ok. Of the a la carte restaurants, the Japanese and the Brazil were good . Before going on this trip I contacted the hotel regarding gluten free food since my daughter is celiac. They assured me that they have lots of options and they have gf breads and pastas, etc... They were no where near. She had to live on salads and hope that anything else was no cross contamination. The pool was nice and clean and beach was great when there weren't storms. Although lots of seaweed I. The ocean there really isn't anything they can do about it. During our stay they had to turn off power for something,I would understand if it was an hour or two but it was off for over 7 hours which was ridiculous! Overall it was a good vacation other than the food issue and the bed issue. But I don't think that I'll be coming back to this hotel anymore.

I think it main problems find darkening place, becouse beach does't have umbrella and enter in water some not good, many bricks need be carefule.Deck- chaise hard. The rest it very good: food, clean, room, amenities, staff.

Was disappointed as did not receive the location of room requested due to our limited mobility.

Awesome trip because we had a great group of ladies who made it fun.. The weather was awful all rain. The hotel itself was beautiful and very easy get to the beach and pool. I would definitely go back but not in Oct. I do have to say as nice as the hotel was.. the choice of stone they have everywhere was so slippery we were afraid to walk. I also feel that there was no communication or information around to tell you what your options for things were. The staff was not very good with giving you information. They were all very friendly though

Almost everything was excellent. Three items that could improve is the procedure to purchase internet access, integrate reviews of tour operators that pick up guest of the hotel, and train supervisors and managers how to properly deal with situations.

Beds are rock hard. No wifi unless you pay. Food is horrible. Service was bad. They seemed to be put out when you asked for something, like a spoon.
