Rodeway Inn And Suites Riverton2.0 out of 5.0

Hubby and drove three hours from Yellowstone, knocking on one after another hotel door to find a room for the night. After finding out Yellowstone closed the park gates due to a snowstorm, hotels were doubling the normal price, or were already sold out. We finally found a wi-fi signal in Riverton, so we could shop hotels online rather than inquiring in person. We booked Rodeway because it was too late for anything but sleeping. All we needed was a reasonably priced room with reasonably good reviews. I was stunned and then irate when, at 10:45 pm, we arrived to a dark office. A sign on the window said to ring the bell, which we did three times. The sign said that if no one answered, we should call a phone number. Standing out in freezing cold with the wind whipping, I couldn't get cell service. Hubby finally managed to connect, and a night desk clerk came to the window. We still had to stand outside in the cold to finish the check in process. He wasn't unlocking the lobby. Then we were informed that there was no wi-fi. The hotel's entire system was down. Nice. I use hotel wi-fi for writing travel articles, uploading photos on travel websites, catching up on email, etc. I couldn't do any of it. There is no elevator, so we had to drag luggage up a flight of stairs to our second floor room. The double double room was older and outdated, but reasonably clean. There was too much furniture for the size of the room. I couldn't squeeze my slender self past the desk chair if Hubby was sitting in it. An easy chair was crammed between one of the beds and the wall, with not one inch of space separating them. The bathroom door wouldn't close with the toilet seat down. You had to leave the seat up to open or close the door. The bathroom exhaust fan sounded like a jet plane taking off. The pillows were far too soft, even if you doubled them up or folded them in half. I awoke with an aching neck. The blanket and curtains had holes in them. The heater kept shutting off, and the blankets were thin, so I was cold most of the night. Check-out is 11:00 a.m. At 10:15 someone tapped insistently on our door and, when we opened it, told us in barely understandable English that we had to be out of the room by 11:00. In nearly 200 hotels stays worldwide, this was a rude first. Oh, and the coffee in the room is undrinkable.
Nothing fancy. We stayed in Riverton as we though it would have been an interesting city to visit. We were wrong, but the hotel was ok. The bed was comfortable and room was quite. Poor TV and breakfast however.
Needed an inexpensive hotel for an overnight in Riverton. Found this online, joined the ChoiceHotels rewards for a dollar discount when booking. Old but clean, bed more comfy than Motel 6! Room had a small fridge and microwave. Plenty of coffee at breakfast and although cereal and waffles were all that was on the menu, the waffles were pretty yummy. Would definitely stay again.
Will not stay again. Yes it was only $58.00 but believe it should have been less. The bathroom door and toilet handle were broken. The phone was loud static unless you held the cord a certain way. Coffee pot did not work. Continental breakfast consisted of waffles with syrup. No fruit. No toast. No boxed cereal. It really bothered me that the margerine, milk, and syrup were not individually packaged. Just a community gallon of milk, tub of oleo and a bottle of syrup. Could have been tainted by anyone. Parking lot was plowed but snow was piled at space in front of room so had to park in back of office bldg. On a good note the TV worked well, the wifi worked well and the cranberry juice was great.
We were staying 2 nights in Riverton. Fortunately, I only booked 1 here. We were out first thing the next morning and won't be returning. The website said they had breakfast. We were informed on check-in that there would be no breakfast as they had few guests. However, to make up for this, they would upgrade us to a Queen Suite. The down side to the queen suite. NO queen beds!! Just 3 full-size beds. WHAT?? We had them switch us to a room with 1 queen bed. It had a foul smell in the room, with a room deodorizer in it. We soon realized that the linens had the lingering smell of cigarettes. UGH! The website also advertised guest laundry. Nope! They ripped it out a couple of years ago and hadn't gotten around to reinstalling it. That had been our big reason for choosing this hotel. I definitely needed to do laundry. When we arrived it had been snowing, it was December in Wyoming. There was no snow removal. All in all, I truly don't have anything positive to say, and I try hard to say something good. I would never stay here again. NO matter the occasion.
For all you late travellers, don't stay here. I was driving late on business and arrived very tired at just a few minutes after 3 am. I was informed by the man in the front that after 3 am the computer systems completely shut down and there was absolutely nothing he could do for me, it did not matter that I had a reservation. On the reservation I estimated my time to be early morning. Went to Super 8.
This was fine for an overnight stop. It could use some updating but everything was clean and the bed was comfortable - just the furniture was pretty old. It is air conditioned and there is a tv. The manager was very nice and accommodated our request for a ground floor room (no elevators). The continental breakfast included isn't much - you can make waffles or have cold cereal, coffee - it was enough to get going but neither one of us thought it lived up to "continental breakfast". It was inexpensive and there was nothing that would dissuade me from another overnight stay.
I was searching for an overnight stay in Riverton and inadvertently booked into this motel, some peculiar glitch on the Tripadvisor website!!! Quickly read the reviews online and was gutted that some were really bad, although some were good. All in all it was no more than ok. To be honest the room we had really needed a good deep clean especially round the bath. I used baby wipes with the clock but couldn't be bothered with the telephone which was horrendous and just put it on the floor. On a positive note the bedding and towels were clean and the bed comfy. Breakfast - what breakfast?? There was not even any coffee in the morning. Won't be going back, sorry!
Do not need 200 letters to say that the ckinlobby window was real dirty dirt and bird droppings and the breakfast area was inadequate with a n un leaned waffle maker. The parking lot was dingy with cigarette butts everywhere, of the 13 hotels we stayed at this was the only bad one. 2 other Rodeways were well above average, thank goodness this was the first . Yes, you get what you pay for and sometimes less.
After a long trip I couldn't get a room anywhere. Alec made room for me and was very kind. I was thankful to have this room. The motel is a work in progress and you could tell they were trying very hard to improve the surroundings.
