Nothing works as should. Air conditioning noisy, not cooling... Few options in restaurant, front desk not receptive, takes too much time to attend requests Liners and maters seems old and dirty Good location in Barra only.

I stayed here for 2 weeks whilst working in Rio and it was ok. There were no problems and I'd stay here again. It is quite a basic hotel. The staff are very helpful but the restaurant was not brilliant for dinner but presented a decent choice at breakfast. Some of my colleagues had issues in being charged for minibar items that they didn't have which took some sorting, my laundry was slow to be collected and I had to remind them, but no other issues. It is well located, close to restaurants and public transport. I'd stay here again but don't expect anything fancy.

Stayed here during the Olympics. I found the staff warm and very helpful. The first day I noticed the bathroom window open and couldn't close it. They fixed the issue quickly. And even before I arrived, they made sure to give me a quiet room, which I had requested. Breakfast is good and plentiful. Desserts are tempting! The hotel was very, very clean, so kudos to housekeeping. There is a big mall a 10-minute walk away (turn right from main street) and a good, local lunch place a 2-minute walk to the left. More dining options across the street. The gym and pool are from a complex next door and were excellent. There is also a free shuttle by boat to Barra Beach, which is a very nice, long beach. The lone negative? The wifi. The higher up you go at the hotel, the worse it is. Even on lower floors it's not great, except on the ground floor. Overall, a thank you to the hotel for a good stay.

Stayed here during the Rio Olympics. Not too bad a location at anytime really. The Barra mall is just 400m along the street and offers a lot of good mid to high end shopping and food options. Hotel was clean and tidy and the staff were friendly and tired to speak english where they could. Breakfast and dining options were good for a hotel of this type

During the recent Olympics I stayed at this hotel with a large group of other people who were working at the Games. The staff were exceptionally helpful, the restaurant served excellent food and the room I stayed in was clean and comfortable- all that was required. For relaxation there was a gym and pool and the hotel offered transport to a beautiful, safe beach not far away.Thank you Promenade Barra First, you were my home away from home in Rio.

Amazing hotel. With very good price. Everyone does speak English, witch is very good I think. Adriana, the receptionist manager she's really helpful and nice. I definitely rec this hotel to stay. When I'll be back to Rio I will choose this hotel again.

I spent two days in a business trip. The room was comfortable and clean. Room service and front desk are very good. The restaurant was under reform and was improvised in a big room, but not too fresh food. To pay attention to the mosquito in the room.

the hotel is clean, staff is nice and helpful, breakfast is good, if you compare it to a decent 3 star in europe.if you are looking for a 4 star amenities and services, you will have a bad surprise, the bathrooms are very small, while the room is really big, lobby is a joke, badly illuminated, but has fresh flowers, a nice touch. if you are in Rio for tourism, avoid at all cost, but if you have business in the area, and look for a clean hotel that has cheap price and good internet connection, this might just be right for you!( it was my case).

I have been at this hotel for approximately 3 weeks and the service in general is really bad. Out of 5 elevators 2 or 3 were always broken and the others not properly programed, had to consider extra 5 min every morning to wait for one. The trash is transported in the same elevators and they stink most of the time. No way you can consider working in your room since internet is almost inexistent and fails constantly, almost 30sec to open Google.com, room telephones are old and full of interferences. Complaint several times however no resolution presented. Some days there was no hot water. Swimming pool and gym are great. Breakfast has a great variety however not high quality. Service is bad, servers just care about talking to each other, watch TV and ask for your room number. My car was scratched overnight at the hotel parking lot. The room key stopped working for different times and when got a new one, neither name or id was ever confirmed. A/C works very well. If need to stay in the area consider the Hilton or even the Ibis, definitely better quality and new product.

I spent 2 weeks here while working in Barra. First up, this hotel is so much better than where I stayed previously, so my views may have a lower starting point than others! Reception staff were great - all spoke English to some extent, and some of them very well. My room was fine - good wifi, working air con and an interesting view of the growing Olympic park on one side and the sea on the other. Breakfast was good, a wide range of food and drinks, and enough for a vegetarian to be happy. I also ate at the hotel restaurant a couple times and that was also fine, with a few veggie options. The main drawback when travelling without a car is the location (I was picked up every day for work). The area feels safe, but is limited in terms of where it is really possible to walk to (although there is a BRT station nearby). You can however walk to Rio Design very easily (going out the back of the hotel means a very quiet walking route) - means easy access to a number of restaurants and shops - especially if walking through Rio Design to the next set of shops. There is also a little food and drink shop in the opposite direction which came in very useful. Happy to stay there again on my next trip.
