We stayed here one night, spending most of 2 days doing their activities. The canopy tour was fun and the white water tubing was excellent! The staff helping with the activities was great and really seemed to have safety at the top of their priority list, which was important since my 6 year old was participating. I think their website says you have to be 8 to do the tubing, but they don't seem to be too worried about those rules, which was great since he absolutely loved the tubing and had no problem staying safe. I do wish they had different times for the activities. Our canopy tour and the tubing both finished at 4:30, which is too late to do anything else except go to the hot springs. If they started a little earlier, we could have gone to a waterfall afterwards. A little later and we would have had more time to do that beforehand. The way it was, we felt like there was wasted time. The 3.5km hike in the national park was worth it. It was cool to see the mud pots, fumaroles, etc, and we saw a bunch of monkeys (I think 3 different kinds). Primary complaint is that the food was over-priced and only fair. Eating at the hotel is pretty much the only option without driving 20 minutes or more, so it would have been nice to have better food there. Overall I would definitely go back.

I was a bit disappointed in my stay. The walls were paper thin and we had a family with a young boy who liked to wake up a little after 6 a.m.and talk loudly. His parents seemed unaware that there were other guests sleeping. There were lots of cows mooing quite early as well. The room had no wifi although they claimed to have it and it rained most of the time. The room and beds itself were nice. The TV was fine. There was very little warm water. We went to the Simbiosis Spa which was deserted and sad. The food at the restaurant was typical and fine. We were there to rest and take it easy for a couple of days. The resort caters to activities so I think I chose the wrong hotel. The security guard had a loud conversation outside our room at 3 a.m. one night.

We chose this hotel to visit Rincon de la Vieja national park. The hotel itself owns couple beautiful waterfalls and also hot spring. The hotel provides shuttles to this points and to the park entrance as well. The hotel is also a working farm with horses and cows. They have options to get other activities like zip lining, horse back riding for additional fee. The front desk stuff was very helpful and explained everything. The breakfast included with the room was ok. You will probably use their restaurant for lunch and/ or dinner as there is nothing else close by.

It's not by the beach it's about 40min from the airport Liberia. Taxi ride was about 80 going he gave us a deal coming back for 40.00. Renting a car is very expensive their they want at least 1000 for a deposit on credit card that was to much for me. The hotel only had one restaurant onsite the food was ok. But overall the staff was very friendly the rooms where clean and it's plenty to do there. It's a relaxed vacation for everyone it's no party scene. But I loved it & definetly go back! Oh wifi are only in the lobby & restaurants not the rooms

The hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. I traveled alone and was a bit apprehensive about going into Liberia and surrounding areas alone, but the staff recommended a driver and he was great! The grounds were well maintained, I was greeted every morning by 2 horses. The adventure tours were AMAZING, being able to walk to the waterfalls, go horseback riding and at the foot of the National Park was a HUGE plus. The only downside, is the gate to the private property closes early and I felt as though I had a curfew. But I would definitely stay here again.

After staying at a four star condo in tamarindo for our daughter's wedding, we made a short trip to the hacienda. What a change in accommodations! The hacienda is pretty rustic, but a wonderful location for outdoor adventures. The rooms are nice. We only paid about $42 per night. Very clean and spacious. The beds are not comfortable, though. But we slept okay. For some reason, they put us in the very farthest room from the lobby, even though the hotel was sparsely populated during the off season. It was a bit of a hike. The grounds are beautiful inviting. There is a working cattle ranch (we think not just for tourists) on the property. It was fun to see the caballeros driving the cattle during the day. There are also several really friendly, sweet dogs that will accompany you on walking trips you might want to take. The food is a bit pricey and just okay. The breakfast that is provided is really nice and yummy. The staff is very efficient and really dedicated to helping make guests feel welcome. They honored our attempts at speaking broken Spanish with good humor. But the really cool thing about the Hacienda is that it is next to fantastic natural attractions. You can walk to waterfalls and take buses (provided by the hotel) to hot spring pools and the volcano! Also, adventure tours is right behind the hotel. For $85 we bought the all day adventure pass. It was so much fun! We zip lined and tubed in the canyons. Simply amazing!! They fed us a nice lunch at the hotel. We went horseback riding (that was just okay), and went to the symbiosis spa afterwards. The spa consists of several hot spring pools that straddle the river. When you arrive the attendant hands you a coconut full of warm mud that you can paint on yourself or others. Very nice and relaxing. It's not far from the hotel. The roads that you travel in the shuttle buses are part of the fun. They are very rocky, so don't go with any loose fillings! Buy the $40 video that the staff takes of you right off the bat! They do a wonderful job of customizing the pictures and video clips to you. The volcano is fun too. The two hour (5km) walk is very nice. Bring water. It costs $10 pp to get into the National park. You can't go to the top crater because of volcanic activity, but you can see steam fissures, boiling mud, and other geothermic activity. We would definitely recommend the Hacienda. It's a great value and a lot of fun!

So close to Liberia and great place to start a vacation. Has all the activities on site so you don't have to make day trips from other locations. The staff was so, so friendly. We stayed 3 nights but 4 nights would have been better. Couldn't have been more relaxing especially since it was the "low" season.

We were there two nights and did the adventure day which was really fun: horseback ride, tubing down a little fiver, and zip-line through jungle canopies and river canyons. I would have liked to have had another day to go to the volcano and hot springs, but we had to get to our next destination.

The location of the hotel is great, and the grounds offer plenty to do. The room itself is pretty sparse and in average condition. I would recommend picking up some water, snacks, etc before arriving as these items are in short supply on the ranch. The food was also very average - one tip, stay away from the homemade cheese, I got good poisoning.

Was a great room, the only thing we would change would be the bed sheets with something with more thread count. We knew this was not the Four-Seasons so we went expecting this. There are not too many choices for vegetarians but this being a working ranch I figured that much from the start. We found plenty too eat anyway. We enjoyed the adventure center activities and being out in the middle of nowhere. If you take a horseback ride try to get "Jhonny Walker" as your guide, he was great fun. All the staff we spoke too were friendly and did everything they could to help.

This hotel is in a great location for visiting Rincon National Park, and the Adventure Tours are fun. However, of all the places we visited in the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica, this was the only one where the staff was hit or miss. Some of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful while others seemed annoyed that they had to be there. This place might be great for a family, but it wasn't the best for me and my wife.

WE ENJOYED OUR STAY,THE ROOM WAS SPACIOUS,CLEAN AND WE HAD A GREAT TIME . EVERYONE THAT WE TALKED TO WAS COURTEOUS AND FRIENDLY . WE WILL COME BACK .

This is a nice hotel with a horse ranch for horse riding trips in the Rincon de la Vieja National Park. It is also near a canopy ride. The hotel is somewhat overpriced but after all a decent deal. The area around the hotel is decent for hiking and has a hot spring nearby.

This is one of the most memorable places we stayed in Costa Rica. The $80 adventure pass is the best deal for this kind of stuff. They have the most interesting adventure program of all we had in Costa Rica. Tubing down a crazy turbulent river is nothing like you would experience anywhere else. Hotel rooms are large and comfortable. Very quiet though you can hear the sound of a geothermal electric station several miles away. The road was in a reasonable condition so SUV was not required (we had a regular car and did just fine). Totally safe parking at the hotel, the hot springs and at the National Park 5 km away. The buffet restaurant for $18 or so is worth it. Lots of Northern EU tourists when we were there in late Nov.

Thank you for your comments. We are happy to know that you enjoyed the activities. Some of our guests visit a small restaurant in town, and the drive is less than 5 minutes away. There are options at our restaurant that start at $5 for tacos , all the way to $17.88 (plus taxes and tips $22) for a buffet dinner. We will try harder to inform our guests about the options and the restaurant in town. Than you for choosing Guachipelin for your trip to Rincon de la Vieja Volcano.
