The property was beautiful and the staff attentive. However, it was very over priced. The food choices were very limited and it was not very good. I developed GI issues my 3rd day that immediately went away when I returned home. I also learned that staff often does not get their tips if they are put in a charge card. Anyone renting a car should be warned that the roads there are rough and unpaved do a 4x4 would be the better option.

Was way out in the middle of nowhere Hard to get to. The roads are terrible. Front desk staff is not that helpful. Restaurant and facilities staff is great. There is no WiFi in the rooms or a lan line telephone. The rooms are nice and the place is nice inside the resort, but there is nobody on property after 9PM.

The place is unique because of all the effort put into the grounds to show guests a Costa Rican experience. A garden walk that includes butterfly garden, koi pond, hummingbird stations, gorgeous greenery and a mud bath are impressive. The thermal pools are HOT. Geese, unique chickens, donkeys peacocks roam the grounds. Rooms are basic but comfortable. The restaurant food is good and the staff is great.

Nice bungalows, paradise nature and views, we liked the botanical garden and butterflies, it was really magnificent! The pools with the hot mineral water they are really worth that 25 min travel by that dirt road. The amenities in gym are old and not the best. But restaurant is good, the food was delicious and prices were reasonable. We spent there 2 days, but I wish we spent there a week. But don't expect to find there

We really enjoyed our stay at the Blue River Resort. The rooms were very large and nice. Staff was very attentive and most spoke English. We drove a small car and the 25 kilometers in the unpaved road took almost 2 hours. ud recommend a 4x4 to get their faster. But the scenery was beautiful so it wasn't all bad. They only have wifi in the restaurant and front office area so that was a negative. But they do offer free calls to the US which came in handy when we needed to make some important calls. They had two cold water pools, one with a slide that our kids loved. The other pools were hot. They had a volcanic mud area that was kinda cool. Overall, we enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend it to our friends.

The resort is great if you want to experience the jungle life. The staff was great and helpful. I liked how they have activities you can book. The hotel is about 2 hours away from the Guanacaste airport and the drive is bumpy. The water pressure in the shower was not that great but still had a great time here. Great value!

We enjoyed our stay. This is a beautiful, unique place. Very remote, but worth the trip for us to stay a couple days. Breakfast was good.

Extremely friendly staff. Scenery was great. Clean rooms. Excursions were fun, even in the rain. Only down side was length of travel time from airport.

Front desk staff was great! Watched the end of the World cup football game in the office.CR WINS! Wait staff not very friendly. They should be selling the hotel amenities and talking to guests. (Did you go tubing or horseback riding? You should go here...) Hotel is in the middle of nowhere so come prepared. Rooms are big and clean. Sauna was nice but could use a face lift. Mud bath was an experience. Overall a good stay.

We had a wonderful time. It is very remote, 30 minutes on paved road and 40-60 minutes on gravel from the airport. But, it is well worth the drive. Everyone there is very friendly and helpful. The grounds are small but beautiful. The hot springs pools are great. If your looking for a laid back, peaceful time, this is the place. Do the hike to the waterfall. It's beautiful.

The ride to the hotel was $100-110 and almost two hours away. Leaving, you will pay $100-110 also. If you would like to leave the resort, it will cost you more money for transportation. The staff was great with assisting in activity planning and recommending places. When we ordered food, the waiter got a few orders wrong and the menu prices were different. The manager only half way honored one of the mistakes. I would recommend paying in Costa Rica's currency. We did get to walk off the resort with a nice escort to the local store & gift shop. The people are very friendly at the local shops. As for ammenties, i recommend horseback riding and ziplining for the whole family. The muddbath is located outdoors and you apply it yourself from a muddstand (stand with a pot of mudd?). Fyi, the mudd smells and its hard to remove the odor. The natural sauna and natural springs are great. Sometimes the water looks dirty but, for the most part it was ok after it was cleaned. Although the sauna looks a little weird, it works wonders.

A great setting at the edge of the volcano. Extremely isolated with 20 KM on an unpaved road...

We got to the hotel which is very beautiful! But it is a long 25 Kms drive, takes you an hour to get there! Staff are top notch but owner should stay in the back ground! Your customers come first not the owner! The grounds are breath taking!

The room was amazing! The views stunning! I did not mind the long unpaved road because the scenery was spectacular. We did two different excursions while staying with Blue River. The first was the white water rafting and I can't express how fantastic the guides were and I would highly reccommend this excursion, our kids are 12 and 14 and they both loved it. The second excursion was the rafting, it was fun too but the river just a little shallow because of the dry season but still had a good time. The ladies at the front desk of Blue River have a difficult time understanding any concerns and were not always very helpful. They were polite but could not understand a simple question or request. The food for breakfast and dinner was good. We tried many different menu items and everything was good. The gentlemen(waiter ) in the restaurant was very friendly and helpful. We had an air condintioning problem and the maintance manager was more than helpful. The unit was leaking and unfortunately ruined my daughters ipod charger and they gave us a credit for the amount of the charger. The grounds were beautiful and it was an amazing experience.

The room was VERY large, great balcony w/hammock, large bathroom/shower and closet, safe in the room but felt very safe at this location and did not feel we needed to use the safe. The grounds were beautiful and the hot spring pools amazing! Mud bath included in your room rate and it feels great and refreshing. Butterfly garden, orchid and humming bird walk were beautiful! There is only one restaurant/bar and make sure if you arrive late you have snacks, drinks and water because the restaurant bar closes early. The roads are a bit rough getting to this location and highly recommend 4-whl drive. You can make it in a car but it would take a really long time and I can imagine would be very rough. Other than the resort, there is not much around in the way of restaurants, shops or bars....pretty much nothing else. So after a few nights we were a little tired of the same restaurant for every meal but they do offer a great selection and the food was tasty. The staff were very friendly especially in the restaurant/bar and the resort offered many different tours such as zip line, horses and hikes. This resort was very family/couples oriented and would not recommend for singles looking to party. We had a great time relaxing at this resort and would highly recommend it to others!

After a rough trip (lost taxi driver), stepping into our cabana was blissful. Suddenly, we were surrounded by lush landscaping, birds chirping and frogs croaking. Every cabin has a hammock on the porch along with 2 rocking chairs. The hot spring pools were delightful and so were the staff. Greta in reception and Victor in the restaurant were stand-outs. We met one of the owners Kevin during our stay and he appreciated our input and told us about their future plans. Overall we spent 3 nights there and revitalized ourselves immensely. The restaurant food was delicious and considering that you pretty much have to eat there, the prices were not over-priced but rather in an Applebee's price range. Just don't leave anything at home, it is a long trip to town.

Dear Mrs. Diana Maria, thank you for your feedback, In regards to the food choices, our menu is international and has a wide variety of dishes , all prepared with fresh and organic ingredients, many grown here in the area. The road is in good condition, suitable for any kind of car and its owned and maintained by the Costar Rican government. In regards to the tips, we are always very prompt to what is given to them in tips in credit cards, we want them to be happy and motivated by this incentive. All the best from your friends at Blue River Resort
