I am aware that hotel Liene is a budget hotel but their standards are slipping. I stayed there 3 years ago for the first time and now I wish I hadn't returned. Good things: -It was very cheap. -Most of the staff were lovely. -Breakfast was tasty for only 4 euros. -The on-site restaurant is open only from Monday to Friday. Food was lovely and the bartender is quite funny (I did speak to him in Latvian, I'm not sure if he is as charming when he speaks English) Not so good things: -The receptionists were very nice however they do not provide any information (e.g. wifi passwords / check-out time / restaurant opening times etc.) unless you ask. -There was no iron or hairdryer in the room so I had to ask for them at reception. -They do not have phones in the rooms so anything you need you have to ask at the reception desk. -The room was very chilly so I had to ask for a heater. An hour had passed but there was no sign of the heater so I went out in their courtyard and saw the housekeeper carrying it to the wrong room. When I stopped him, he realised it was for us and then he said something rather strange: 'I can't believe you are cold in the room. Should've invited some boys with you'. I took it with a pinch of salt but my friend wasn't too impressed. -It wasn't the cleanest room, plus it was missing the light bulbs in the bathroom mirror lamp. -The area is quite dodgy, especially if you have never stayed in Riga before I'd try to avoid it. Overall I wouldn't recommend this hotel, especially if it's your first time in Riga.
The room was clean and big enough, warm, and even there was a coach against a bed. Its about 20 min by walk to the city center, so that was ok for us. There is The only thing we didn't like was the small sheet covering two beds, putted together instead on one big. But i really recommend this place if you want to find nice place for reasonable price.
Comparing to price , this hotel is the best you can get from a budget hotel . Its not in a central location but easy to get to city center by taxi. taxis are reasonable .Also breakfast was good enough and very cheap , about 3 lats.
It was a very clean hotel the staff were very friendly we were able to get your room changed from a double to a double with kitchen it can be a dificult to carry your case down the steps. the internet connection was weak at best it wad about a 20 min into town however there was a sports bar about 5 mins walk away on the Coner of avotu and Gertrude street the taxi to/from the airport should be about 15 euros
The room smelled of old cigarettes. The steps leading to the room was old and it did not feel like we werw entering a hotel. The walls missed paint some places. The shower in the bathroom had some strange spots on the floor. Probably someone tried to repair it with some kind of glue. Sofa on the room and the carpet were seems like it was very old. The staff were very kind and helped us in all kind of ways. Breakfast was very good. The area was noisy and the streets around the hotel is not a place you want to be when it is dark. We went to another hotel the next morning
The hotel is not really in the city center, it's a good 15-20 minutes walk. The walk didn't feel very safe at night but maybe this was just me. I felt like Riga is more of a city center/old town kinda place where you leave your hotel for walks and for the bars and clubs. The room was quite basic but clean and convenient. The staff was nice but his English wasn't the best, it wasn't a problem though.
My friend and I spent 9 nights at this Hotel, just outside the center of Riga. The room was clean, big and comfortable. Breakfast is very well organized: for just 3 lats per person you get juice, a hot dirnk, bread (and a variety of ham, cheese, cucumbers, tomatos etc...) and a hot dish (the porridge was great!). The staff is very helpful and welcoming. Although this hotel is not located in the very center of Riga, it takes just 15 minutes on foot or 5 minutes by tram to get there. I definitely suggest this Hotel for visitors of the amazing city of Riga.
I stayed in this hotel recently to visit a trade fair in the city. It is a great place lovely services and personal attention staring from the moment you checkin at the reception and not stopping till you're in a taxi on route to the airport again. It was a pleasure staying here. Room, food and staff ... everything is perfect here. Highly recommended.
I have tried well-known hotels of this city and quite satisfied with my stay at Hotel Liene, a few months ago. The place was super-duper clean and well-arranged. Check in went smooth although we arrived a few hours early, but check out was delayed due to some technical reasons. Rooms were fantastic in terms of comfort and modern amenities, other facilities were average and staff was OK. Overall a nice place, peaceful, comfortable and not too expensive.
The rooms are spacious, we got a room with a kitchen. No problems with water or anything. The staff is very good. We came by car so I did not see any problems about getting to the center. The area is not bad though each second customer complains it is nasty and terrible. However I would mention some drawbacks. 1) My booking said: "Double or twin room with free parking". On the first night I managed to squeeze the car in the yard (there are only 7 parking places for 14 rooms and service cars), on the next night I had to park ouside. Fortunately there was a public parking lot under the windows and my car is not popular among car thieves. 2) The hotel claims wi-fi access but in the room I could conect only with smartphone, the connection was ot powerful enough for the laptop to see. So to download documents I had to go to the reception. 3) The windows need washing badly. However the price compensates many of these minor things.
