Eight women on a holiday trip, everyone with a lot of travel experience and high expectations. All of us loved this hotel and their staff. Our first room was too dark, I thought, they immediately gave us a brighter one with a view over the beautiful facade next to us. Comfortable beds and bathroom, impeccably clean. Wonderful breakfast, with eggs to order, in a winter garden. Right in the center of the old town, yet silent and calm. And the staff! Whatever we wanted to do, they managed to fix it. With some friendly and informative comments. This is what luxury is for me.
One of the best hotels in Europe. Excellent service. Warm and friendly staff. Delicious food. Very comfortable rooms. Fantastic bar with wonderful ambiance. Perfect location in the heart of Old Riga.. Can't wait to go back.
We had a wonderful 3 nights at the Grand Palace and were very happy we chose to stay there. The service was exceptional, big shout out to Juris at the bar (bar is gorgeous by the way), the location is ideal for walking anywhere in old town, the room was very comfortable and perfectly appointed. Don't hesitate to book this hotel, it is definitely the place to stay in Riga. Should we return we will look nowhere else.
The hotel is a very good with awesome location in old down. Breakfast was a very good with multiple choices and omelet and pancake station. Delexe room was a very good including airport transportation without extra charge.
Good location. Good service. Nice rooms. The breakfast place is great. All old city attractions are nearby. Very friendly personnel and they know all local sightseeing places, good restaurants and whatever is needed.
We had a greens dish for an opening dish, salmon - well cooked and an elegant dessert made like a flower with a little mountain of ice cream inserted being the flower bud. Very good Chardonnay fr Chile worked well with the main course, and excellently chilled - someone new what they were doing - and so it alway is with The Grand Palace Hotel's services and food - the waitresses were active, a smart introduction and nicely lain table in the recently refurbished lounge made me look forward to the dinner - even if my focus was networking at the table - which turned out incredibly good! Needless to say almost, the coffee was rich in taste and strong as it should be. Thank you Grand Palace Staff and & Management for making our evening memorable:)
We spend 3 nights in this lovely boutique hotel. The athmosphere is relaxing, decoration and interior style somewhat grand old style, the service is excellent. Definetily good value for money. Otherwise would have been perfect, but there are some space to improve. The gym is small, the smallest and the worst gym I have ever seen. Then there is a cage bird in a breakfast room...don't understand what's value for the customers? I felt bad for the bird, it didn't look enjoying it's facilities as much as we did. In the bar it is acceptable to smoke. I know this will divide the people, but we didn't like the strong cigarette smell in the lobby bar. The hotel restaurant had a decent menu but if you are looking for lively restaurant, this is quite an opposite. We were only customers there on Sunday evening. The restaurant doesn't have windows at all so we had a really private dinner. Anyway the other facilities and service works well. I can recommend this hotel if you value personalized service and hospitality. But skip the gym.
It took me some time to decide where to go to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. We wanted to go somewhere special where we could go on a Husky Dog Sledding Tour as we did this on our wedding day. I therefore searched for this and Latvia came up. I then looked for hotels and found The Grand Palace. I definitely choose the right place. From initial enquiry Laura responded and I have to say she was exceptional from the word go. We booked the romantic package which included 3 nights, with breakfast, dinner on one night, flowers, champagne & chocolate and transport in luxury car to and from airport. Laura explained everything to me over email and we had a lot of communication. I mentioned on an email reason for out trip and we where going to experience the Husky Dog Sledding Tour whilst in Latvia and Laura offered to look at this for us and book. The whole process of booking direct was excellent. On arrival we were picked up in luxury Mercedes and driven to hotel about 20 minutes from airport, when we arrived we were greeted at reception with 3 members of staff including Laura and all greeted us within a welcome and congratulations on our anniversary. We were invited to sit down, flowers given to us and a glass of bubbly was brought over and again the lady congratulated us. We both felt very special from the word go. Then we were shown to our room, incidentally upgraded to a Junior Suite as well which was a lovely gesture, I can't remember the guys name who took our case up and showed us the beautiful suite and how it all worked. I really wish I could remember his name as he was fabulous throughout the weekend offering to book anything for us and asking about our weekend all time. He knew about a Husky Dog Sledding Tour when we were waiting downstairs and asked us all about it when we came back with great interest. I do know his English was great and had lived in London for 2 years. Equally others staff were very attentive from all on reception, bar, restaurant. I couldn't fault anyone at all and not just professional but all took a genuine interest in you. The suite was fabulous with a very comfortable bed, great coffee making machine, large bathroom with underfloor heating. The housekeeping was exceptional and we requested an iron one day and this arrived within 5 minutes. The bar was a lovely room and for us great as we smoke and you can smoke in bar, however if your a non smoker there are machines to clear the smoke and my clothes never smelled at all. The bar staff were excellent here, one of them again can't remember his name, but after one drink knew exactly what we wanted every time we went in and also my husband likes one cube of ice in his whisky which he remembered. The dinner we had on the Saturday evening was beautiful, I had the beef fillet and my partner has the salmon, both served with vegetables and cooked to perfection. Great attentive service too. The breakfast each morning was plentiful with everything fresh and all you needed with a lady cooking eggs each morning if you wanted we had omelets each day which were filling an great start to day. When our weekend came to end, we were greeted by Laura and team again and asked us how our weekend was. I don't think I have every stayed in a hotel were everyone genuinely cares about the good time you have had and is so attentive. It was an exceptional experience and I would highly recommend this hotel as a must to stay when visiting Riga for comfort, genuine people here and location in Old Town. We will definitely stay here when we next visit Riga. Next time in the summer to explore this beautiful city in sunshine. Thank you all for making our weekend so special with memories that will last forever.
Absolutely fabulous hotel, nothing to complain. Every single small or bigger details were handled with extraordinary skills. Hotel staff was extremely professional in every way. One of the best hotels I have ever visited!
