This is not a 5 star hotel: 8.30 every morning woken up by the renovations and drilling next door. They even charge you for a honey that goes with the tea plus reception is chasing for check out 12.10 while the hotel is almost empty...
We really enjoyed our stay in this upmarket hotel. The staff were exceptional with their professional attitude and friendly service. We loved the room on an upper floor and hotel's location afforded interesting views of the City rooftops. The bed was comfortable and the room was airy and light. The bathroom had a good array of toiletries and enough room for a nice bath and shower and had a tasteful decor. Our two bags could be accommodated in the room without any concerns. My wife was ill on our first night and I chose to eat in the bar on the ground floor. The meal was tasty and the local red wine, exactly to me taste. Staff in the bar were warm, friendly and helpful. On our second day we ate our lunch in the bar as well, and despite meeting different staff, found the staff just as warm and friendly. As we are non-smokers we were dreading the thought of smokers during our meals, but if there were any we didn't notice them. The location of the hotel is in close proximity to major attractions and all are within walking distance. A pleasure to stay and highly recommended.
This hotel is excellent in every way. It is situated in a very convenient position from which to walk around the city and enjoy all the sites. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. Very good breakfasts with a wide variety of choices.
This building has real character and class. It's in a perfect location near the castle, Dome Square; the whole of the old city is within a short walk. As you would expect, the public rooms are well appointed and our bedroom was lovely with good views over the historic street. The main bar allows smoking (!) and has a really noisy load of extractor fans which struggled to clear the air of the smell of cigars. Time to send ALL smokers outside ! Please . Nice breakfast . Look out for the parrot in the breakfast room.
The hotel is in an excellent location near the main sites but in a relatively quieter area. Our check-in was easy and our room was very nice -- spacious and pleasantly furnished. The bathroom too was spacious and had all the expected amenities. The beds were quite comfortable. The service was uniformly friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, Latvians smoke far too much for their own good or anyone else's. The hotel really should prohibit all smoking on its premises but instead an entire section of rooms on our floor were smoking rooms. The smoky odor could be smelled even in the nonsmoking wing, where our room was located. Thankfully, however, our room itself smelled smoke free. Too bad -- a totally smoke-free hotel would have earned the hotel five stars in my opinion.
The property is old , however with its designed and modernised rooms make you happy gives you comfortable accommodation. Location is very good & closed to city center and many other historical places as well restaurants etc. Architecture of restaurant at the hotel nice ,just variety could be more & better.
This is a beautiful hotel located in town center, quite near to everything there is to visit in Riga. We appreciated our bedroom and bathroom, that were practical and nicely decorated. Breakfast was very tasty each morning, with a lot of choice, and located in an impressive room. The bar had ambiance and style.
There's a parrot in the small breakfast room. If that isn't enough to make you feel queasy then...First the positives: location and dinner (slow service tho). Dark and small rooms on 1st floor cannot be described as being part of a lhw. Staff attitude not what I'd expect either. Best just for dinner.
Was here for a friend's wedding, really stunning venue. Food and service was top class, really enjoyable day. Very impressive decor inside, especially the banquet room, would love to come back and stay here.
Perfect location in the Old Town and a great room made for a lovely escape in historical Riga. Nicely decorated interior (with the exception of the spa) and good breakfast at the hotel. Hoping to return soon.
