We're fortunate to have stayed in many leading hotels of the world, so our expectations were high when we booked here for new year. Our room was small but nicely furnished, with attic windows giving a view on the spire in the nearby church. The location of the aircon controls was stuck in behind the tv so not easy to control. Bathroom was tiny and getting in to the shower was awkward with its proximity to the washbasin. Mini bar wasn't replenished over the course of our 4 night stay. Hotel bar is a little sterile, but good choice of cocktails, but smoking is allowed there which is just off putting for us non-smokers. Similarly although our room was non smoking the smell of cigarettes coming from the corridor and perhaps neighbouring rooms was most unpleasant. Nice selection at breakfast and lovely staff - it just lacked a little of the extra touches that we've come to expect from lhw.
The hotel is aptly named, as it really is quite grand. Upon entering the lobby, you're greeting with a gigantic display of fresh lilies beneath a beautiful chandelier. The breakfast area is very pretty, and Misha the bird adds a quirky and happy touch. The food was great as well. Rooms are quite spacious, with high ceilings, and nicely decorated. The bathrooms are great with good lighting (a rare occurrence in hotels), and i loved the heated bathroom floors! Great on a chilly day! Also, housekeeping deserves a mention-- They really do a nice job making up the room, and always timely. The location is great-- steps away from Dome Square and all of old town. Staff is friendly and quick to offer assistance with whatever you might need. The only small complaint (if you'd even call it that), is the smokiness of the hotel's bar/cafe. It's really a nice area, with great decor, and windows overlooking the charming street. I would have liked to spend a bit of time relaxing there over a cup of coffee or pastry, but for the smoke. It might just be a cultural difference that I'm not used to. Again, a minor overall point. Loved the hotel, and highly recommend it!
My boyfriend and I recently took a long weekend trip to Riga. We were looking for a quiet and charming weekend away near Christmas to get into the festive spirit. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at The Grand Palace Hotel. Our room was beautiful and had all the amenities we could want - mini bar, cosy blankets, WiFi and tv, room service and toiletries. The bathroom was my favourite with the under floor heating! Breakfast in the morning caters to all dietary requirements with an amazing spread of hot and cold food, cereals, fruit, pancakes etc. I was unfortunately sick over the weekend and the staff were amazing at making sure we were okay and had everything we needed for a comfortable weekend I would highly recommend staying here if you are thinking about travelling to Riga!
I stayed at the Grand Palace Riga for one night during my stay in the Latvian capital. It was amazing, as the hotel is located right in the center and its facilities take you back in time.. I had a great time there and I´m sure I will be back soon
The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of the old town and with one of the traditional but local Christmas markets at the end of the street in the square overlooked by the magnificent church -a great place to soak up the atmosphere with a mulled wine, We arrived at 1am due to the flight but were warmly welcomed & our luggage was taken to our room - the room was quiet and the bed was really comfortable with underfloor heating in bathroom & adjustable heating / air conditioner as required. Breakfast was served from 7 - 10.30 and there was a plentiful choice of hot & cold food & an excellent egg station. The room was cleaned morning & night with bottled water & chocolate left out in the evening. We took advantage of the sauna & steam room to which we were given a key for our private hour booking- again there were complimentary toiletries, slippers & robes& the spa was fantastically clean. The staff were all very helpful throughout the hotel Check out was efficient and not until 12 pm and our luggage was stored for us as we had an evening flight.Taxi booked by reception staff who sent us on our way with 2 slices of delicious Xmas cake & tangerines - a nice touch. Overall would highly recommend this lovely hotel for a stay in this beautiful city
My wife and I were keen to explore the city of Riga. During our three nights in the Latvian capital we stayed in the Grand Palace Hotel. This was a truly wonderful choice. The hotel is extremely well situated. In the heart of the Old Town it was a stone's throw away from the rather quaint, yet quiet Christmas market. The hotel itself is a class act. On arrival we were checked in quickly. As we were early the hotel looked after our bags until our rooms were ready. We met with the hotel manager as well who offered us a hot drink on him whilst we waited. After our drink we went out to explore the city. Whilst I was out the hotel phoned me to say our room was ready. Excellent service. The room we stayed in was a business class room. It was spacious with a good sized bed, TV and underfloor heating in the bathroom which was much appreciated on a cold morning or after stepping out of the bath. Breakfast (between 7am and 10am) was plentiful and there was a good selection of hot and cold food to choose from. It was a buffet style - although you could order extras at an additional cost - and also did include a rather superb omelette station. Cleaning of the rooms was done perfectly. Not only were our rooms tided in the morning after we'd left for the day, each evening, between 6pm and 7pm, we also had our room serviced and chocolates left for us. A very nice touch. Check out was also quick and easy. The reception staff were dutiful in their approach to us and also ordered us a taxi to take us back to the airport which was waiting outside when we were ready to leave. Services that were also available - although we didn't make use of - included a full bar and restaurant and a sauna, steam room massage service. Each I'm sure were more than sufficient given the rest of the hotel. All in all this is a great hotel. I'd happily stay here again if I was in Riga. A real five-star experience.
A brillent and wonderful hotel The staff are so profsional and helpfull. The maids are so on the ball and are really trained to a yery high stanard. The rooms are so well equiped and i advise anyone on a trip to Riga to stay at this wonderful hotel. The hotel is only around the corner from the old square its self. Brillant.
Grand Palace Riga is located in a quiet part of the old town but very accessible to all the amenities. The rooms are very comfortable and the service extremely good. I would highly recommend this place if you are staying in Riga. Also worth booking directly with the hotel to avail of the airport transfer.
From the moment you arrive at this hotel, the staff offers a warm welcome, with attentive service, to help ensure you feel special. The positive energy and team spirit are evident, with everyone geared toward one goal ... creating a wonderfully memorable experience for the customer. This property is certainly one to recommend!
The Grand Palace in Riga is grand, but maybe not so palatial. Friendly staff, great location, good sized rooms with comfortable working desk and appropriately appointed: makes for a highly civilised stay for business or pleasure.
