Good hotel with great location in front of the Duomo. We had higher expectations of this hotel as we have stayed in many other hotels Relais and Chateaux. A report unsatisfactory quality / price. Our concept of "suite" is completely different from the room we stayed in.
The Hotel is nicely desigend, very well located. Only the personnel is not very professional. The personnel at front desk seems very arrogant and the guys and ladies in the Restaurant gave us the feeling that they are not even interessted in serving guests. They are more interessted in looking in their smartphones. This was a Little bit disappointing for a Hotel in such class.
Stayed while I was in Riga with friends for a few nights. We all really enjoyed our time at the Dome Hotel. Nice breakfast. Staff went out of their way to be helpful and make us feel welcome. Located on a quiet street in the Old Town. Short walk to everything we wanted to see. I would definitely stay here again.
This was a lovely hotel with a delicious buffet breakfast that was included. Their dinner restaurant had very good seafood and a nice wine list. The room was spacious and looked to be recently decorated. If you're a tourist definitely stay in Old Town. There is lots to see all in walking distance.
We had a lovely lunch and overall it was value for money. We would go back if ever in Riga again. To be critical, the sparkling water was served warm, the various starter and main dishes were served tepid. The WC was something to behold, in the basement, very poorly lit, the stench would put even the customer with the strongest stomach off eating (go after you have eaten, if you have to!!) After leaving the restaurant, the stench of the WC hits you on the pavement again😣 as you pass the vent. Pea soup, perfect flavour, (a hint of sweetness from petit pois?) and the fish fritters delicious. The mackerel cooked to perfection, perfect balance of seasoning and delicious Beef with Asian noodles (a sauce spoon would have been useful and have saved my shirt and the table cloth (nothing like a dripping noodles to splat sauce everywhere!)
All in all this was a really nice hotel: spacious room, spacious and very contemporary (all black, including toilet!) bathroom. Lovely welcome gift of local dried fruits, and in room coffee/tea. Only problem was couldn't get hot water from the shower head, so compelled to use handheld. Took several days before Mgmt could have Plumber look at it, and was not fixed. Breakfast was the real highlight and the two gentlemen who waited on us were very friendly and very helpful. Selection was huge - all you could want of both local Latvian delicacies (think crepes, smoked fish ) plus more western choices. Yum yum. Front desk manager also helpful. Would definitely recommend but think Mgmt should have compensated us in some small way for lack of hot water, either rate discount, or bottle of wine I recommend something! Esp as we made it clear we were celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary...
The stay was characterized by square and inflexible service explained by rules out of the control of the front office staff. Terrible experience. Was supposed to come back the subsequent week but cancelled without hesitation. Nice property but given service model and relative prices vs other local hotels felt like a tourist trap unfortunately.
The hotel was not amazing and it is surely not the best one I have ever, however everything was not very bad at all. The only thing that we did not like like are the beds because they were not really soft and felt a bit too hard. If you are a person with a problems with your back than you should really care about the mattress and pillows
Pros: each room is super individual. They have a private spa facility - great quality. They really try. Unfortunately, the rooms can be quite loud because of walls that are not thick enough. I am a sensitive sleeper. But still a good hotel.
The hotel building was built 400 years ago and renovated to a hotel in 2009 by Latvian designers. The hotel is small, only 15 rooms. So you will get personal service. On arrival we were greeted by the hotel driver at the airport. If you booked directly from the hotel, you got a complimentary one-way transfer. The car was a luxurious black Audi A8. At the hotel we got welcome glasses of sparkling wine during the check-in. In our deluxe suite on the top 5th floor was more sparkling wine waiting for us as a welcome gift. The first day was excellent. We managed not to hit our heads to the numerous wooden beams in our room. Next day the problems started. There was no hot water for the whole day. When asking, they said that the problem is in the whole city. On our check-out day there was a minibar problem. When we came back to the hotel to have a transfer to the airport, the receptionist said that there are one champagne and two beers missing from the minibar. We did notice the missing items quite soon, when we arrived to our room. There was an empty space in the fridge and no beer, which is a very usual minibar item. Next day the minibar was not refilled, which was quite strange for a five-star hotel. Hopefully they got it sorted out. At least we have not seen any extra charges on our credit cards. It was a pity that the hotel managed to ruin the experience in the very last minute. There were so many good things in this hotel, but the last impression counts. The breakfast was excellent with good service. Also the turndown service in the evening was very thorough. And the location is very central but quiet in the Old Town.
