Super 8 Ruther Glen Kings Dominion Area

The customer service at this hotel was minimal. The room I stayed in seemed to be fairly clean. The morning of check out the cleaning staff tried to come into our room 3 times before the required check out period. Twice while we were still asleep and once while we were getting dressed and preparing to leave. Will not be staying here again.

Upon arrival was greeted by staff folding towels in lobby, when we got to room there were no towels (they were brought to room about 1 hour later). I had called a few days before to request a poolside room and was told they would look into it and try to get me one. I did not have a poolside room. The carpeting in the room was filthy! When I walked across the carpet in my white socks the soles were brown/black with dirt! There was no visible dirt on carpeting or floors. The bathroom was a nice size but the showerhead was terrible. If we were all under 5 foot tall it would have been a great shower but we are not! The spray hit us in the chest and in order to wash hair needed to lean forward or backward toward the showerhead (VERY UNCOMFORTABLE TO DO!) The mattress was soft and comfortable but the sheets and bed spreads all had small holes in them. The pillows were few (2) and very flat, luckily we were smart and brought our own. They did have the a/c turned on and was comfortable to come in to. There was no t.v./channel guide for us to follow so we had to channel surf to find what we wanted to watch. There was no detailed diagram indicating where the ice/vending machines were, we found them by accident going to the pool. The pool was a decent size but there was green algae(?) on the bottom of most of the pool and the side walls were very dirty. There was debris floating in the pool and my son refused to go swimming in the pool. For the price I paid, I would not stay here again nor would I recommend it to others.

booked this room because of the location , close to 95. Rooms are very dirty, mildew and stains in bathroom. Upon checkout the clerk refused to give us receipts. Had to argue in order to get one. Would not recommend to anyone. AVOID AT ALL COST

Staff rude, housekeeping comes in 3 hours before check out, beds sheets dirty.

I would not stay at this hotel again. The property is in need or remodeling!!! My room had a wasp in it because the way the ceiling is made. I told the manager about the problem because I did not want to get stung using the sink or going to the bathroom and he did not want to give me another room but he finally did. The carpet was stained, bed was small, wash clothes and towels were dingy and had hair on them .Ice machine was moldy. I went to a convenient store to purchase ice. The bathroom toilet was half cleaned and you could see feces around the bottom of the toilet. The tub faucet was bent and the staff was not friendly. Worst hotel I've ever stayed at!!!! Most of my belongings stayed in my vehicle. Don't waste your money go elsewhere !

The staff are very nice at this hotel, the room was clean and had a super cold ac. Only complaint i have is that the shower heads are only about 5 feet off the ground making a person bend over or squat to wash ones hair.

The room was clean and beds were comfortable. The shower head is only around 5' feet high requiring a person taller to squat on lean over to wash their hair.

We chose this Super 8 because it was right of the 95 and didn't require for us to go out of our way while driving south from NYC. Staff wasn't super friendly or unfriendly. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The bed wasn't very comfortable but you get what you pay for. This is a place to sleep while on the road and on a budget. The breakfast was a standard continental breakfast. Nothing special. Bottom line, if you are looking for a place that's conveniently located off the 95 and just want to sleep, this is an ok place to do that.

We stayed overnight after spending the day at Kings Dominion. There was a mix-up on the room reservation (I needed a double but was booked for a King). However, they were more than able and willing to correct this. The breakfast was pretty decent, room was clean and the hotel was located near several eaterys as well as gas stations. If I'm in the area I'll stay again.

The room was great and the hotel was in a great place. The trash company picked up the dumpster at 530 in the morning with our room rt near the dumpster it woke us up. There was a coffee pot in the room it had no coffee supplies for it. And the Continental breakfast of toast and Cereal was not much of a selection to get a person atarted on thier way for the day.

Staff was top notch.

I got 2 rooms. 1 room was clean but the other room was filthy. there was no light bulb in 1 light and the bed frame in front of the wall has probably never been cleaned. It has about 2 years of dust on it. The female clerks were RUDE!!!!! IF you reserve for 8 people they give you 6 towels. I guess they expect you to SHARE!!!! I asked for 2 more towels and was given an ignorant look.

Hotel was nicely located and was not a traditional Super 8 with indoor access only. This one was the all outside access. Rooms were old but clean and the staff is friendly. The pool was in good shape and in use. Price was fair with the Orbitz rate but I would not pay the normal non-Orbitz rate of $75.00 per night.

The staff was very nice. It was right next to a truck stop but that did not really effect how we felt about the hotel. The hotel was what you expect from a Super 8...It was convenient and easy. The check-in and check-out was super easy.

Motel was conveniently located to restaurants and fuel stations. Room was very clean and the bed super comfortable. Far enough away from the interstate that traffic noise was non-existant. Would have preferred to know that early check-in and pets were allowed for a MINIMAL fee but those facts were not advertised on the website. That is our ONLY complaint and we would definitely stay here again!

My husband and I and our 2 boys stayed here for 4 days while visiting Kings Dominion. We knew ahead of time the the motel was near a truck stop and were prepared but that wasnt the bad part. With the AC running you couldnt hear the trucks. The hotel doesnt really pay attention to its guests. There were several PU trucks that parked taking up 2-3 spots, which was okay early in the week, but come the weekend made parking difficult. Some of the other long time guests were less than neighborly, and the staff didnt seem to pay attention. (IE.. they sat on the only steps, which are outside, to the 2nd level drinking and smoking, they didnt move when we arrived to go up the steps. There were about 6-7 people sitting on the steps and cohorting around them.) I was young once too and liked to party but these people were rude and arrogant, and were not what I wanted my children around. We encountered this almost every evening, along with the loud carrying on that followed later in the evening when we were trying to get the kids to sleep. Overall the motel was clean and the staff seemed friendly enough. We were only at the motel to sleep and shower for the most part and without the hulligans the stay would have been alright. Although, there is no elevator to the second level which made unloading/loading a pain the in caboose. Truck stop was not the half of it, it is located on a stretch of roadway with several truck stops so traffic isnt pleasant but otherwise wasnt bad for the price, it was budget, and you get budget. It was however within 10 minutes of Kings Dominion and with the alternate RT 1, there was no Interstate traffic to deal with.

Hotel room was clean - could use more amenities. Price was reasonable.
