Hotel employees were very helpful. It was nice to have valet parking. The rooms were very clean, but dated

Staff is very helpful. The hotel is very convenient if you want to tour the Capital Grounds.

Room was not what expected, dark, view out window was brick wall, like being in a cave. Very outdated and old furnishings. Breakfast did not look appealing so went elsewhere.

The room exceeded our expectations. 2 room suite with a nice view of the Capitol. Very pleased with the location and price!

I needed something close to VCU for summer orientation. The hotel was technically within walking distance, but since it was 95 and super humid, decided to drive. There were only about seven non-valet parking spots, although I did manage to snag one the second night. On first morning, valet was very prompt and courteous. Front desk staff was also very helpful and friendly. Room was large, clean, and comfortable with a very nice bathroom. Only negative I would say is try to get a room on a higher floor. I was on the 2nd floor, and every morning I was woken by sounds from the street below - garbage trucks, tour buses, etc. Other than that, this was a very nice hotel.

The room smelled of stale smoke, outdated/business furniture inside, no real food in restaurant. This property could use a real renovation. Otherwise clean and very friendly/helpful staff.

Great place to stay. It's a good hotel, but it's in a good location and the room was very large and quiet.

Our daughter had an accident, was transported to VCU Medical Center. Commonwealth Suites is a short walking distance away. Directly in front of State Capitol. Very good location for sightseeing and restaurants. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Hotel very clean and neat. Nice breakfast to get your day started. Very nice to walk across the street and you are on the State Capitol grounds. Would recommend the Commonwealth Suites.

Very well staff and the cleanliness was good. However, you can literally hear everything from the neighbors next door and I mean EVERYTHING. Let's hope your neighbors are much quieter than ours.

It is in the heart of downtown of Richmond, which is a plus. However, you can hear EVERYTHING from the room next door, and I mean EVERYTHING. Let's hope your neighbors are quieter than mine were...

Good Experience. Older Hotel. But good location. Can't park you car anywhere. So MUST Valet

This is a great hotel in a great location. It is older and lacks the modern amenities of newer urban hotels but the rooms are great and the comfort is good. My only negative is the old noisy air/heat conditioner which is less than comfortable.

It was a generally good experience. The room temperature could have been a little higher at arrival..

Yes, it's an older hotel, but you can't beat the location. Within walking distance of the Richmond Center Stage theaters and the Farmers Market, not to mention being across from the Capitol grounds! The room itself was very comfortable. NIce sitting area with tv, plus a tv in the bedroom. Very comfortable bed. However, be ready for the "downtown sounds" drifting up from the street (day and night), but it's all part of the experience. They need to get a new mini fridge brand. The ones they use DO NOT COOL WHATSOEVER. I checked the one in our room as well as the one in the workout room. Drinks were NOT cold. Our towel warmer did not work, and how their style of bidet functioned was hard to figure out. Regardless, we intend to stay there again when we take another Richmond weekend getaway.

Right across from the Capitol. So the location is truly "historic district". Historic is good description: right out of the 50's. Had a "non-smoking" room, but all those years of smoke are burned in. No getting rid of it. Thought breakfast was included, but cost $12 for your basic cafe breakfast. Speaking of cafe, right out of 50s too. And rude staff. Not really under Hotel Mgmt. Caters to capitol poll staff and not tourist friendly. Elevators felt like 4 people might be too many. Get a hotel down on Cary Street. Unless you are a poor lowly state house staffer!

The rooms could use some updating but overall good value for a suite in the middle of Richmond. King bed suite is the way to go :)

The suite was ok with fridge and microwave two TVs, a CD player and two smart chairs. The location was great for an exploration of the downtown area. There were some things that were in need of repair. First is the heater in the bedroom it was non-functioning a bit of surprise the following morning. Then the shower had some repair that was decaying and black particles were falling down from the ceiling. An update to the interior aesthetics and a sound system that is iphone and Android capable would be a step up and make the stay more pleasurable experience.

I was here because I had an interview at MCV. It's walking distance to the campus and you can wake up 30 minutes prior, get ready, and be in the interview with a lot of time to spare. I recommend this place if your interviewing at MCV. There's a nice living room separated from the bedroom with closed doors, so it can give you some privacy if you have guests.

The staff was very friendly, however the room was not completely clean. Some general maintenance is needed, and there were some places which should have been cleaned better.

My husband and I were in Richmond to visit some friends and this hotel was a walkable distance to their apartment as well as several museums. The front desk was very nice, when needed our car was brought around promptly with a call downstairs, and our room was very spacious. It was very comfortable, cold AC, spotless bathroom, and comfy bed. One bedside lamp was missing a bulb, but that tiny oversight was the only thing wrong. My husband used the sauna in the morning before we left and thought it was one of the best, hottest electric dry saunas he'd ever used. We were only in town one night, but would definitely stay again if we find ourselves back in Richmond.
