Clarion Hotel Central

The hotel is right off the freeway, lots of traffic noise. My room stay hot inside the air didn't work very well. I ask to be move the next day because of all the noise from the freeway! They moved me the following day.

We made a last minute reservation to stay at the Clarion, the place was very close to a major highway which noise was definitely an issue if you are a light sleeper. It was very out dated and the hall ways were very dark with flickering lights. I would not say it is in the safest part of town either but it got us through the night before we hit the road. You get what you pay for as far as low budget.

Had recently stayed in another CI property which had already undergone effective renovation. This Clarion appears to be in the process of "serious" renovation and restoration. Having known this property in its very early years a la 1960s, I was pleased to see the possibilities for the Clarion in the coming months. I think it could approach a "retro" quality that will prove attractive to the current generation of travelers.

Unfriendly, creepy staff. Construction hazards on the property. Disgusting rooms.

This hotel was in a good location for the attractions we were looking for. It was a holiday weekend and the traffic was very light so the city was very accessible. The hotel was pleasant, clean, and quiet. Staff was friendly. The only negative was a loud A/C unit. Somehow that was enough to put me into good sleep for 2 nights.

Spend a little more and go somewhere else. This "hotel" is in dire need of serious renovations and basic maintenance. Wires hanging down that appeared to be there for days in a main floor lobby, water stains everywhere.

A lot of the guest seem to be living there full time and were surprised to see a traveling professional female. Some guys (who appeared to be living there) hanging out in front of their rooms, asked me if I "wanted a shot" of whatever they were drinking and/or smoking....Not cool!. I did not feel safe at all! Pushed a table and everything heavy behind the door when I got in and checked out bright and early. Luckily was able to get reimbursed for the night I didn't stay.

Our room was perfect other then the smelly black sock that was under the chair in the room. You smell something werid when you walked in.

Not Clean at all, Not confortable. The pictures on the website look nice but the rooms are not as nice.

Room was okay. It had a fridge and freezer, which were not cool. There was an old microwave. The heat smelled a little funny. The walls were a little thin. The restaurant was a bit lacking. Location was great for going to the Arthur Ashe Center. Price was right.

best bang for buck downtown. well, it's not really downtown, but only a $5 uber ride to downtown.

Did not appear to be in the best part of town, right off of I-64. When I checked in, there weren't that many people there which I took as a bad sign. The room was spacious and clean, but smelled like smoke (although it was supposed to be a non-smoking room). The entrance to get inside the building was supposed to be locked and require key card access but it didn't - even late at night - which was a little worrisome. Overall, it served it's purpose, but I would probably stay somewhere else if I did it again, unless I had someone staying with me.

For the price, I expected a much nicer hotel. The place is totally run down and just plain depressing! Location is fairly convenient, though, that's why we picked it, but I'll never stay there again!

I was passing through Richmond & needed a convenient location near I 95. This was fine.

I have stayed at this Clarion Hotel location in Richmond VA on several occasions. The majority of my visits have been during the holidays. Each time I have stayed at this location the restaurant has been closed. If the company that is being contracted to operate the restaurant during the holiday period can't meet their obligations they should be replaced. I would imagine that most guest would appreciate the amenity of having restaurant accommodations during their stay. It would behoove Clarion and its brand to correct this inconvenience.

Essentially great deal for what you get on price vs any of the downtown hotels for hundreds more $. Two issues - vending machine output iced tea with the water selection. Then at a different vending machine, water came out but I can tell you it was tap water placed into an aquafina bottle. Was not sealed, had a brown ting to it, but I didn't die. Second was asked the front desk at about midnight to have a cab ready at 4:30am Monday morning to catch my 6am flight. Same person working when I arrived in the lobby at 6, and it didn't look like the cab was waiting so thanks and I hope you struggle to make your flight the next time!

Our stay at the Clarion Hotel was very nice. The room was very neat and clean. Our bed was very comfortable. The staff was very helpful and very polite. There were many different restaurants in the area that we enjoyed. We will definitely visit this hotel again.

Nasty hotel in the ghetto, staff was intoxicated, overpowering smell of smoke in the no smoking rooms. Ice machine was broken, overall dirty room, lobby, hall. Will not stay here again

This was the strangest place I've ever stayed. The rooms were very nice but the hallways smelled like sour milk and trash. The hotel was occupied by the strangest crowd ever....everywhere you went it smelled like weed. Housekeeping was very helpful.

We were very disappointed in the hotel. The beds were hard the tv was analog and kept fuzzing in and out. I killed a roach in the bathroom. We ate at the restaurant and it took 30 minutes for our food to come out and there was only two groups. On the last night the internet went out and they never fixed it. I will never stay there again and suggest others head my warning.
