This is the best hotel we have stayed in in Europe. The hotel is immaculately clean. The staff are fantastic. We cannot remember all of the names as it was April 2018 we visited. But one particular waitress we remember is Vivi. She always made a fuss of our daughter. All staff made us feel very welcome. The rooms are great, food is fantastic and plentiful, the variety of drinks is great and the evening entertainment is great. Overall we had a fantastic week here, we enjoyed it so much we are going back in three weeks and we cannot wait!
Loved it here! Lots to do! Lots of pools. restaurants and activities. Mini bar was for free and refilled daily. Staff were very pleasant. Close to the centre of Rhodes. Certainly an easy walking distance. Certainly recommend!
I would recommend this hotel from the Mitsis group to anyone that asks. The 3 pools, 2 evening restaurants, a buffet restaurant (to restaurant standard), 3 pool side restaurants, a creperie, galateria, pizza oven and 2 bars. Needless to say, your self restraint will be tested as everything is included in your stay. . There's a spa at additional cost too but with only 1 week we just didn't find the time...haha no time to relax in a spa! True though, everything was so enjoyable that we simply were fully content with all the many options we had all around us. There's evening entertainment and gym classes in the daytime. The evening entertainment wasn't tacky like kareoke. It was vary varied, blues night, local pop, traditional music etc. The gym classes were deceivingly difficult. The instructor just makes it look easy obv! We unfortunately had to change rooms half way through our stay (booking agents error not the hotels). So understandably this was irritating but on entering the pool view room we had hors d'oeuvres, deserts, fruit and wine waiting for us! One pool is out on the front and great for swimming and near one of the bars the second was smaller, warmer and central to all the restaurants. The downfall to this as non-parents is that mornings are pretty much for the kids here. You can swim all you want but you might end up in the middle of a splash fight. The 3rd is an indoor pool and good for lengths swimming. We took a self guided walk up to some local ruins about 2 miles away, great idea but not in midday sun (oops) Brits beware, we aren't all naturals at functioning in 30+ heat. We also took an afternoon walk into the old town which only took about 30 minutes. We couldn't walk around the old town wall as it closes at 3pm but its just another reason to return. The old town markets are a labrynth but all very interesting and oldy worldy. We meandered through in the welcomed shade out the south (I think) where the harbour is and walked towards the supposed Colossus of Rhodes. The only negative we found excursion wise was the packed lunch. It was very disappointing with the high standards we had experienced in the hotel grounds we were looking forward to what we had been packed up for our day out....It was a bottle of water, a ham and a cheese sandwich, and an apple. Boring and bland especially in comparrison to the delicious food awaiting our return. Basically, there's plenty to see nearby the hotel. We didn't even get to the beach. This is a very good place to stay when you want fine dining without the mystery bill at the end.
A mixed but overall positive experience here. Checking in was not great. We arrived with many others on an evening flight so there was a queue to get sorted. Couldn’t understand why more staff didn’t use another part of the huge reception desk to move people through more efficiently. It was very noisy from voices of guests trying to be heard over the sound of loud music playing in the nearby bar. I tried to confirm a room with a balcony and sea view and was told I’d get what I’d requested. There was no help offered with luggage or to show people to their rooms. The room we were given had seen better days. The wash basin was cracked and the bath was chipped. It needed a coat of paint. It wasn’t the hotel’s fault that the decor wasn’t to our taste. The sea view requested was obstructed as the balcony was directly above hotel entrance canopy which half filled the view. Subsequently our room was changed to a higher floor without difficulty, the new room had a good sea view and the decor had been updated. I don’t understand a star system that gives 5 stars to a hotel which although very friendly, well equipped and clean but lacks discreet personal service, includes some shabbiness in the bedroom and queues for self service food. I should not have been surprised that it wasn’t 5 star standard when frankly the holiday was so cheap! If you’re looking for activity on holiday and feeling lively and extrovert this hotel might be just for you. If on the other hand you’re looking for a peaceful break away from noise and bustle this is not the hotel for you.
So I have to apologise to this hotel for not reviewing this earlier! We stayed here in April 2018 and while booking another Mitsis hotel for 2019 I realised I had not reviewed this hotel. Sorry! So we loved this hotel and the location. We stayed at the Mitsis Laguna in Crete and there seems to be a similarity and that is - GREAT STAFF! They are what makes the Mitsis hotels so great. Loved the Greek restaurant for lunch and the fresh grilled fish was delicious. Also very much enjoyed the pizzas in the Italian restaurant. Yes the rooms may be a little dated decor wise but they are spotlessly clean! And that is all that matters. Comfortable and clean! So a special thank you to; Marios Costas Vivi Peter Michalis You made our stay great! Xxx
Everything is so good except the rooms. Food is available all the time. night entertainment is fabulous. staff is very friendly and welcoming. Restaurant staff is so kind too. I really had a wonderful time at this hotel. The location of the hotel is excellent.
We stayed in one of the vip suites, which was spacious and had a nice beach view. All inclusive food was ok, though we all had diarrhea and vomiting for a couple of days... Service was ok (especially the waiters in the main restaurant were kind and helpful in every way). Also nice restaurants by the pool. Pool was quite crowded. Ok hotel, but little impersonal due the huge size.
As usual we have spent two lovely weeks at Mitsis Grand Hotel in September. Our second trip this year and as always we were very satisfied. Everything ranging from the friendly staff, cleanliness of the entire facility, the various in-house food/dining options, night entertainment to the great pools were topnotch. A special thanks to the staff in the mainrestaurant who made our staying so pleasant. They made our granddaughter Stellas birthday so successful. She become a teenager. A lot of HB ballons, HB cake and they were singing for her. Very appreciated of our whole family from Sweden, USA and Greece. Thanks to the whole team who are working so hard. You make MGH to the best . Special thanks to mr Kavouklis the general manager, mr Doufas, mr Marriettis and of course Dona my Aladdin and my rock. We will miss you and we wish you good luck in future. All of you means a lot to us. Time flies and we wish all of you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year See you next year Mrs Konstantara KoumouliMaritsa
The food in the a la carte restaurants was amazing and the service in general in all the hotel was excellent. So, if you like a really nice hotel in the city center, if you like visiting the old town of Rhodos, if you like the calm public beach, this hotel will be the best your choice!
The hotel looks very impressive from the outside but we felt that the rooms were in dire need of re-decoration. We were allocated a family room which overlooked the shabby tennis court and another hotel which appeared to be abandoned, the view from our small wooded balcony was appalling, overlooking loads of junk. Also the room had paint peeling off the walls and dust around the edges of the carpet. We asked to be moved and were allocated a much better room, this was still a little dated, with peeling paint a dirty carpet. As we visited in October there was insufficient seating in the indoor bars which was disappointing, but there was a good range of drinks included in the all inclusive package including cocktails. Food was ok, nothing special and luke warm with limited vegetarian offerings. It was sometimes difficult to get a seat in the outdoor restaurants. I dread to think how busy these must be in the height of the season! The staff in the creparie were miserable and unwelcoming, however staff in all other areas of the hotel were amazing and super friendly. For the number of guest that this hotel can hold, we felt that the outdoor pool areas were a little small. The hotel is in a good location, about a 15 to 20 minute walk into the old town, it is right opposite a beach and bus stop. Overall we felt that this hotel didn't warrant a five star rating, it's probably more like a good four star. It's the staff and location which make this hotel superb everything else is just mediocre which is why unfortunately rate it as average.
