Hotel Mediterranean belongs to a small group of elite hotels on the tip of Rhodes island. Built as a luxury hotel (I saw it being built as a boy) the hotel service and facilities still strives for the best. The personnel in the reception, the restaurant and the bar is very finely dressed and provides exquicite service. Do yourself a great favour: Play the game ! Enlarge yourself and join the effort and spirit of this hotel ! If you dress and behave appropriately in the restaurant, bar, and reception area you will be rewarded with the most cordial service and make your stay unforgettable to everyone. You dont have to dress like a penguin. But I am sure you have some smart/casual clothes that you would wear at your sisters wedding. But if you slop into the restaurant in slippers, shorts and T-shirt with a "funny" print, you will embarass yourself and those other guests who come here to live the spirit. I recommend the "all-inclusive" clientel to stop thinking "quantity" and live quality for a short while.
Just returned from a week at the Mediterranean Hotel. Fantastic service especially in the restaurant, the food was great. Lots of choice of both hot dishes and salads. Fotis and Georgia in particular were outstanding. We were upgraded on arrival to a junior suite with outstanding views. Easy walking distance to explore Rhodes Town and right on the beach. We enjoyed it so much we have already booked to go again.
When we visit Rhodes , this hotel is our first choice. Great location, nice rooms with a splendid sea view. Very helpfull and professional staff. Good breakfast . The bar has a variety of delicious cocktails. overall great stay. hope to be back.
An elegant, modern hotel with charm, quality of service and care of a bygone era. Mangers wore suits, waiters traditional outfits - smart and professional. Calm, relaxing atmosphere. Nothing too much trouble. There were 10 of us - a treat for our daughters, husbands and 4 grandchildren. Hardly any children in hotel (bonus). Most rooms sleep 2 with addition of 1 put up bed to sleep 3 which makes some rooms a little cramped. Aris, one of the hotel reception managers, was extremely helpful and went out of his way to ensure all was well for us during our stay. Thank you Aris. We appreciated it and your actions made a difference. Bonus points: All rooms have balconies, front seaview rooms have gorgeous views. Extremely comfortable beds, clean mattresses, good quality linen and towels. Very clean - the cleaning team worked like Trojans! Food excellent and plentiful. You can opt to eat outside (16 tables) or in the dining room - large and elegant. Different themed menus each night - a drink was offered as you entered to compliment the meal. Waiters attentive and professional. Again, nothing too much trouble. (Coffee best I have had in all my visits to Rhodes!) No coffee or tea facilities in room so take a kettle!! There is a fridge with bar supplies with just enough room to keep a little milk in. No entertainment - definitely a bonus! The two hotels next to this one had entertainment which, as you walked by was noisy and intrusive!! Medium sized pool which was appreciated in a town hotel, with comfy sunbeds and areas of sun and shade available. Location fantastic, municipal beach (stony) opposite, sunbeds available for hire - none belong to the hotel as public beach. Mandraki Harbour 6 mins walk away (boat trips etc - great for going to Symi). Old Town easily reached on foot as are the designer shopping areas and bus depot. Perfect. Amazing sunsets and sunrises can be viewed from this peninsular. Visited Bee Museum (charming), explored Old Town. Do find the Roof Top Minos Cafe in the Old Town. Relaxing atmosphere overlooking the whole area - stunning views. You get such a different perspective and it always seems to be cool! Thanks to all the staff at The Mediterranean who made our stay a success. We have had a relaxing and enjoyable stay and look forward to returning!
Good hotel in a great location for us - we want to be near enough to amenities, town but still have a bit of peace and quiet. This hotel gave us immediate access to beach and easy access to town, transport links etc but no noise/disturbance. Our room was good and clean - garden view but balcony was sun trap. Food was of good standard and varied choices. All staff in hotel were very friendly, approachable and helpful. Would stay again if we go back to Rhodes.
I guess it goes under the description "toes in the water". Walk out the front door and across the street and you are on the beach. There's a sort of Golden Triangle in Rhodes town with the Aquarium at the top and Avenue Alexandrou Diakou at the base. Anywhere in there is a good location for all that Rhodes Town has to offer, but for beaches and swimming: East is best and Hotel Mediterranean is bang on. The rooms are very modern and well appointed. Junior Suites have a great balcony overlooking the beach. Despite the road being right below; there is little or no noise once the balcony doors are closed. It is popular so if you are staying full/half board you might need to pick your times for breakfast and dinner. Food is OK with a good choice but lunch is take it or leave it. Breakfast is also good.
This 4 star city hotel is situated in the city of Rhodes, a few hundreds of meters away from city center and the old city of Rhodes. There is a small pool in the hotel which is located beside an outside road which is loaded with quite heavy traffic. Passing this road you will reach a sandy beach with free sun beds and umbrellas for those staying in the hotel. Some of the rooms are not too spacious (rating from very small, to... small !!!) with a flat TV and a fridge with mini bar. Although the lobby area is not too large, there is a large restaurant area serving also to outside tables. Breakfast is served on an American type buffet, though the variation and the quality of the options are limited. In general, it could be a good option for a city break, though you should think it twice if you are not an “all inclusive” type of traveler.
I’m a solo traveller and stayed here for a week 9th to 16thmay (2018) The hotel was perfectly situated, clean, spacious and in my experience, quiet. I’d booked a double room for single use and found it to be a perfect size for me. The air-con in room was effective however the room power was only on when my card key was inserted into a slot just inside the door so I just had to remember to come back a little before dinner to cool the room a bit, not a hassle really as i was half board and it was nice to cool off and shower beforehand. Its 15 mins or so to walk to the medieval town which was convenient, also you are right on the beachfront as well (sunbed hire €5 for the day) The staff were brilliant, friendly, professional and accommodating. It’s the little things that matter and I feel that housekeeping should get a mention as, when I was too hot under the thin duvet provided, I decided to just use the quilt cover as a sheet. This was noticed and the next night I had an extra sheet waiting without asking, bravo 👏 If you get the option when booking (I went with jet2) go half board as it only cost me an extra €30 for the week which is ridiculously good value. The food was buffet style for both breakfast and dinner and there was something for everyone including local dishes, everything was well cooked and very tasty and as a little plus you are offered a shot of a different drink each night before dinner which relates to the evenings culinary theme and is not always alcoholic as once I had a type of Greek tea! Include are two pics of the beach in front of the hotel. The beach is comprised of fine pebbles and i do suggest beach shoes to ease the walking, which are available everywhere cheaply.
We found the location most convenient for us - just near the beach and wonderful long promenade for swimming and sunbathing as well as walking exercise; close to the old town for discovering history and culture! Yes, rooms are a bit dated, but nothing were missing and cleaning staff did their job well, so no complaints at all. We had HB and found both breakfast and dinner tasty, fresh and varied, also service was skilful. Had no soundproofing problems at all - it is possible that our neighbours were just quiet people! As it was May and temperatures were moderate, the AC chilled well. The only disappointment was "side sea view room" - yes, you can see the some sea from the balcony, but there are buildings across the street: two hotels and small supermarket; from time to time smoke came out of the chimney of one of these hotels which smells very bad and loud music from the supermarket was also sometimes quite annoying. But it is not the fault of Mediterranean, which is good, clean hotel with polite and professional staff - thank you!
We had a very good week here. Our room was perfect and it was worth it to pay extra for a fantastic sea view, which we enjoyed from the balcony. Breakfast excellent with good variety. Evening buffe was different every night (Asian, Greek etc). All staff were professional and very nice. Would certainly go back. Perfect location and a nice 10 min walk to Old Town which we think is the best part off Rhodes.
