Mercure Hotel Mannheim am Friedensplatz4.0 out of 5.0

We got a room at the ground floor, which was old and dirty, especially in the bathroom. There was an automated coffee-machine, but only tea and cocoa available, and powdered milk. Parking is cheap and just next to the hotel.
for our business and across the street from a very beautiful park. The hotel itself is middle class. Service is very friendly and rooms are okay for a night or two, spacious and light. Beds are comfortable with a nice collection of pillows. The hallways are not very nice and could really use an update which would reflect nicely on the hotel. Breakfast had a good selection of food and again friendly and helpful staff.
Yesterday I slept at Mercure am Friedensplatz and today at an Ibis Budget in Wien. First 10 minutes in the Ibis and I experience the internet connection, hundred times faster than the Mercure. How can a hotel have a 512kb connection (the Mercure of course), put it on the instructions paper and perfectly live with it? How can a Mercure have an air-conditioning system which makes a vibrating sound on the walls which sounds as if the guest next room had left his phone close to the wall and was receiving messages like crazy? Seriously guys, update your hotel. The 3rd star is for the kind lady at the bar, who helped me this morning with breakfast.
I liked the location. It is a brisk walk from the center of the city. I would stay at this hotel again. The hotel is neat and clean. The breakfast is great and the patio is nice to sit down and relax. Cannot walk to the train station. Taxi to the airport is 11 euros.
It was my first visit after the hotel cheanged from Park Inn to Mercure. Hotel still in transition and unfortunately guests have to suffer from it. Reception seems not to be trained and I think I got room for smokers that was supposed to be fully cleaned up but it was not. Be careful and watch feedbacks from others if its improving.
Air conditioning was totally not working and there was no proper house keeping. Drainages in bathroom were not working properly and toilets are not very clean. It was really a terrible stay for me and my family. Hotel does not have good facility and staffs are really less to handle such a huge fraternity.
Two days after I booked this hotel as Park Inn, it changed hands and became a Mercure. Nobody thought to inform me, so the day before arriving, when I went online to find out the address and info for our arrival, it was as if the hotel didn't exist! Website shut, and no working links! I panicked, thinking we wouldn't have a place to stay that night, and so I called Destinia to find out what the story was. They had to call the hotel direct, and told me it had changed to Mercure, and that my booking (stating Park Inn) would still be valid. Which was the case in the end. But if a hotel changes hands after a customer makes a booking, the correct way would have been to inform all guests of the change by email and reassure them that their booking will be honoured, to avoid any misunderstanding. I shouldn't have had to find this out myself! Times of services available need to be communicated properly to all staff. We decided to go down to the bar at 10:20pm, and I asked at reception about the availability of food, and she informed me that I could get something up to 11pm. However, when I asked at the bar, the bartender said, "sorry, the kitchen is closed!" (even though this was 40 mins before 11!). I told him reception had said otherwise, so there ensued a very awkward (and rather embarrassing for me) situation, where he brought out the chef, who couldn't hide the fact that we were getting in the way of his plans for finishing a bit early that night. Eventually, we just ordered soup for my husband to be done with the situation. Either you serve food up to 11pm, and all staff are aware of that...or you don't! Customers shouldn't be made to feel they're being difficult for ordering "too late"!
Nice to reach the city center by tram. Near by there is a big park. Quite zone but there is no markets or shops. Just entered the room I noticed my pillow was used and also when I was away, with the no not disturb sighn on the door, they entered and changed some towels , throw away garbage etc....but there was not necessary....do not disturb is a NOT disturb notice, so respect IT please. Thank you and hope to respect the request due to the fac that also to my job friends happened the same thing- and one of them was in the room sleeping....is not nice when you have to work in the night and you are awaked....read the sights and respect them, please
I took my family to visit the Technoseum in Mannheim because the shop I now own, George Halls Cycle Centre, a photo of it from the 1930's was being used as a backdrop to one of the exhibits there. The hotel was literally 300 metres away from the museum so great location and as we were on foot even better. The hotel was very clean and warm, we went on the last weekend of February as it was my wife's birthday. She was very happy with the accommodation. Clean room, very comfortable beds, refreshments in the room and in the lobby. We had our evening meal at the hotel too. This was well prepared and didn't take long at all. Breakfast was busy but nothing to complain about, great to see a busy hotel. Food was plentiful and very nice. My son had 3rd's. Greedy teenager. If I went to Mannheim again I would certainly stay here again without question.
Just stayed here, a very pleasant hotel, staff friendly and helpful. Food good although a pretty limited menu. Not situated in the most exciting part of the city but not a problem if you're here on business.
