Good service especially in the restaurant. Always serving good breakfast. Just needs some updating in decoration. Bed is comfortable but could be better. Elevators are small as in many European hotel. Good location especially if you go in the summer. Nice size balcony, although I was not able to go out of the balcony because it is already cool in the month of October. Overall good hotel to stay for a short visit.
Good small family owned property.Small rooms but neat and clean. No tea/coffee making facility in the room which is a minus point. No complimentary drinking water supplied in the room which is a must and second minus point. Good breakfast. Only complaint is that the bathroom is very, very small. The hotels in Italy should actually learn from the hotels in India & South Esat Asia by fixing health faucets or Jet Spray in the toilets and doing away with the toilet rolls since it is more hygienic and secondly, why have bidets in the bathroom and make it more small when as such the bathrooms are already smaller?
We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Doge. The staff are very nice and helpful. The bartender (Sorin) is great, friendly and makes awesome cocktails (we had a "Hugo" almost every night). + Nice hotel and pool area + Great staff + Breakfast was great + Clean rooms + Great location + Great ocean view from the room - Pool area was sometimes a bit crowded due the kids attending swimming lessons - Rooms where a bit small
We've recently spent here one week. This is no luxury hotel, but it's been recently refurbished, the bathroom is modern and the room size is bigger than the italian average. Although not on the seafront it's very close to the beach. We had a triple room with a sea view, which was as I said bigger than usual. Flat screen TV, minibar and a very tiny safe box. The sea view was not exactly what I was expecting, you can actually get a good look of the sea only if you walk out on the small balcony. What impressed us most was the food. Breakfast was excellent, with fresh pastries, cold cuts, omelets prepared on the spot and, last but not least, plenty of fresh fruit: strawberries, cherries, peaches, apricots, kiwi, pineapple, oranges, grapefruit... the only thing missing compared to great hotels was maybe the fresh orange juice. Dinner was perfect: huge buffet of starters, vegetables, salads, fish dishes and meat dishes. The first and second courses are chosen from the menu list. Here there was something to suit every taste: there was a fish dish, a meat dish and a vegetarian dish to choose from. If you are on a special diet they can make something for you right on the spot. The dessert buffet also looked great, although I haven't tasted the cakes. Plenty of fresh fruit for the dinner buffet too. The free wifi connection was ok, the hotel parking lot 8 euros per day. The restaurant staff were also great, nice and very helpful. Very silent air conditioning, this was actually the first time I could sleep with the air con on in a hotel room. Our booking included an sun umbrella and the sun beds for the whole week. These sun umbrellas are in the last rows of the beach. We didn't use the swimming pool neither the spa in the sister hotel Aurelia. This hotel is a top choice in its price category and I certainly recommend it if you're looking for a decent place with great staff and great food.
Doge Hotel is near the beach and the evening cafe/restaurants/bar scene in Milano Marittima. It offers onsite parking (you need to book in advance) and a pool area (large but lacking some vibe). Fresh and satisfying breakfast and little perks like free aperitivos on a weekend add to the experience. Our room was comfortable , though the decor was a bit tired. As this is an older building I would like to see it embrace its retro chic more and make the most out of it.
