This is a nice hotel to spend some time in Quito, a little bit noisy even in high floors, you can hear traffic early in the morning. Good breakfast and food. Friendly staff and good location. Can use this hotel in the future again.
Over all the stay was good ,the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was good, we had a queen bed ,we were told they did not have kings.I felt the breakfast should have been complementary, at 25 dollars a day it was a bit much .
I needed a room for a night before catching a flight out of Quito. The rooms were very clean, modern, and offered all amenities. The staff were exceedingly friendly and helpful and parking was in an underground, secured garage. I did not partake in room service or eat at the hotel restaurant. Wifi was very strong (I was on the 4th floor); the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was very large. I typically prefer non-chain or branded hotels, but again, this was a more than comfortable stay and wonderful experience.
Normally I do not stay in Howard Johnson hotels, however in Quito I found the Howard Johnson hotel to be good for business travel vs staying at tourist, higher end and more expensive hotels. The hotel is close to downtown Quito and offers a good restaurant and bar service. The hotel is clean, the service is friendly and helpful with almost everyone speaking English at the front desk and in the restaurant. Hotel taxi service is readily available at the hotel. Lots of business meetings take place at this hotel due to the reasonable rates and location. The currency is USD.
Although I had stayed at this Howard Johnson previously for business, this time I visited I had a strange "gringo" request. I had two hours to kill before a meeting and wanted to spend the time running in Parque La Carolina, which is right next to the hotel. However, I needed somewhere to change in and out of my running clothes and a place to store my luggage. I went in and asked the front desk staff if I could use their bathroom to change and if they could store my luggage for two hours. The staff said "yes" to both odd requests and they even let me change in the hotel gym. After my run, I tried to pay the hotel for their service. The staff refused payment. I am amazed at how generous the staff was and how accommodating and helpful they were. Based on my experience, I would highly recommend this hotel. The sort of service that the hotel provided was above and beyond what I have seen previously in Quito. Thank you Howard Johnson Hotel Quito.
It's been a while since I've stayed in a hotel where I couldn't control the temperature of my room. We arrived at it was 16 degree Celsius and we had just flown from 34 degrees so needless to say, we were freezing. There was one extra blanket though. The beds were okay and a good selection of pillows. The front desk all spoke English which was great. There was always hot fruit tea or coffee available at the lobby but nothing in the rooms. The restaurant was reliably good and I ended up eating there several times due to a weird work schedule. Their "house oats" were amazing and I ate seconds of that at the breakfast Buffett. The housekeeping and waiters had amazing customer service. One really weird thing....hallway lights turned off and when we left our room to go to the escalator, we literally could get 1/2 there before they kicked back on. If I had been alone, I think that would have been uncomfortable for me. I'd stay up high then you would hear less of the traffic. There is a mall two blocks away and the food court on the third floor had an amazing selection....easy cheap dinners!!
Good hotel, courtious staff, renovated room. The only minus was my ròom was without air-condition (or for some reason I was not able to find it....) All in all, worthwhile the money spent, meets most passanger's basic requirements: Clean bed, tidy room and a good shower. I would give it a heads-up!
This place is the best Howard Johnson Hotel I have ever been to. The room was spacious with 2 double beds. The bathroom was a great size with the rain shower head and very hot water. The 32" HDTV was nice with HDMI inputs so I could hook up my computer and watch movies on a larger screen. The breakfast buffet was very good with a large assortment of fresh fruits, and they even had an omelet bar. Front desk was very friendly and helpful.
I've stayed several times over the past few years and I really like this hotel. The staff are very friendly and accommodating each time I visit. The rooms vary a bit but I've found most of them to be quite nice. When there's something not quite right, the front desk staff are quick to change it if they have alternatives. Staff are friendly, rooms have everything required for a comfortable stay, and the location is fairly central. I've stayed in a few other places in Quito and this is definitely the best in its price range.
Nights and mornings can be quite cold at this hotel as I recently found out. The rooms have the basics and the bed is very comfortable. However waking up to a cold bathroom is not something I cherished. It would be great if a heater was provided in the room...Otherwise the food is excellent and comes with great service from cordial staff.
