Mature Aussies travelling with adult son, daughter & son in law chose Alpine apartments for location, flexibility with guest numbers, modern style. We appreciated the friendly helpful staff, the pre -stay quick responses to our questions and helpful advice. The apartment had lovely views, was clean, and well appointed. The free wifi, the kitchen and laundry facilities and the ground floor location we're so convenient. Certainly a home away from home holiday experience!
Apartment was initially fine, but we had some serious issues later on in the stay. The views from the room are very nice and the decor is well laid out. Our issues were with the availability of basic amenities and your options of what to do when they ran out. We have stayed in many self catered locations during our travels but the lack of availability of basic help was a serious hindrance of this place at 10PM at night. Our other issue was the parking situation in front of our apartment which considering the fact we were travelling with a young baby in a car seat, was not good enough. The location was quite far out from the town centre but this wasn't a huge problem for us, the other things were however deal breakers.
Had a very comfortable stay at the alpine apartments . Good for families . Plenty of parking and nicely positioned being a 2 minute drive to the centre of queenstown. Helpful staff and lovely views. My only issue the rooms don't get serviced so for longer stays towels etc need to be washed.
We stayed here for 3 nights in January. Self-catered apartment, everything you need to cook a basic meal. Very clean. Staff were extremely helpful. Only downside is there is restrictions to the WIFI and the temperature of the shower is temperamental . Great size apartment, huge bed.
We wanted to stay somewhere really nice on our last three nights in Queenstown, so increased our budget a little and chose Alpine Apartments. The apartment was lovely, very smart and slick, although the bedroom was internal, so no windows - same with the bathroom but that did not matter so much. The apartment was two bedrooms although we only booked one, so the second one was locked and a curtain drawn across the window which looked into the lounge. This rather gave the impression it was a store cupboard. The sheets were crisp, the bed comfortable, the towels, white and fluffy. Everything spotlessly clean. The apartments are a ten minute walk from town - give or take a few minutes, depending on how fast you walk! "Alpine views" were advertised and this we got as well as snippets of the lake.....however, the apartment was virtually in a car park - an unsealed car park at that with cars coming and going creating dust. If we had chosen to stay in a "motel" you accept being close to other cars, but to me this was not really acceptable. I did complain because I felt for the money we paid it should have been better. The staff were wonderful, very accommodating, knowledgeable about attractions and understanding of my complaint. We were moved to an apartment at Pounamu - just in front of Alpine - see my report on this apartment. If you take my advice, spend just a little bit more and stay at Pounamu. However if you do not intend to spend too much time in the apartment, then Alpine would be fine.
We stayed here over New Year 2014/2015. Our apartment 26 was quiet and had views out over the carpark to mountains. Our main grizzle is that the design of the apartment does not permit fresh air flow. There is a small vent in each bedroom only, no windows and only one window in the whole wall of the lounge. This issue needs fixing before we would stay here again. Otherwise everything is of good quality, clean and comfortable. Who needs 3 TVs though?
My family and I recently booked 2 rooms at Pounamu for our first time holiday in Queenstown, NZ. We were pleasantly surprised with the clean, warm and well furnished rooms. The apartments looks new and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. In addition, the Wifi is free and reasonably fast. The apartments are 5 mins walk away from a beautiful lake and 15 minutes leisurely walk away from Queenstown Central. We had a very memorable stay at the apartments and in Queenstown. We will definitely recommend these apartments to our family and friends, JW Singapore 2014
We booked a 1 bedroom alpine apartment and it has a lovely view of the mountains. We were given a small bottle of milk as a welcome drink :) The apartment is cosy and clean with free unlimited wifi, a spare laptop, some DVDs, and there is nothing I can complain about. The town centre is about 10 to 15 minutes away by foot and less than 5 minutes by car and there is a nice park nearby. Everything is pretty nearby so it's nice and quiet yet near the amenities.
Looking for a change, we stayed here for 4 nights and were pleasantly surprised. The Alpine Apartments are tucked in behind Pounamu Apartments who also manage them. Pounamu Apartments are more expensive to stay in, but these were still fairly upmarket. The Alpine Apartments are very new. To check in, you have to go to Apartment 2 at Pounamu Apartments. Our Apartment (no.26) was located up a steep driveway and we were allocated a car spot which was great knowing you had one unlike some of the larger apartment complexes in Queenstown which often don't have enough car spots for apartments which in Winter can be particularly tricky if you have to park in overflow areas such as steep, slippery driveways. I payed online for a one bedroom apartment (it was actually a 2 bedroom apartment with one of the bedrooms closed off). Our apartment had a fantastic 180 degree view of the Remarkables, Cecil Peak, Dear Park Heights and Lake Wakatipu (both ends)- other apartments behind us would only have corridor views. We had a patio with outdoor table and chairs - nice just sitting there and taking in the view. There is a massive window/sliding door (very heavy and hard to open) which enables you to admire the scenery. even more. Although having said that as we were located on a drive through road, anyone driving by could see into the apartment. At night you can draw heavy curtains for privacy. We had two lounge chairs, a 42 inch TV (about 8 or 9 cable TV channels (e.g. 2 movie channels, 2 sports channels), a DVD Library, box of chocolates, in room laptop with free WifI (now that's a rarity in NZ). There was a galley style kitchen with oven, gas hob (stove top), microwave, dishwasher, full size fridge and cutlery/crockery and saucepans. They even supplied paper towels and salt and pepper. Perfect for self catering. Downside to the kitchen (mainly design flaws): *cupboard doors hard to open (scraped my fingers a few times) *button to switch on the hob was hidden away in a nook *the gas stove was next to curtains (a fire hazard for sure if you have a window open and the wind blows the curtains near the hotplate). We had the window near the stove open all the time when cooking as there is a message not to cook "odiferous" foods (not that we did) and we didn't want to risk being charged extra for cleaning. As it is essentially a 2 bedroom apartment, the dining table is decent and so is the amount of cutlery and crockery supplied. Both bedrooms have a glass wall (with a curtain) which allows you to enjoy the mountain scenery. There is also a wall mounted TV in the bedroom as well (bliss) and the bed is comfy and soft with a woollen underlay. In the bedroom, there is a closet behind a door, which lights up when you open it. The bathroom is sizeable and has a sizeable shower. Our apartment wasn't serviced for the entire stay - so the toiletries supplied (which are good quality) only last so long. You'll have to go to a supermarket and stock up. Not sure if reception supply them free of charge. You'll also have to empty your own bins as well. They also ask that you recycle empty plastic bottles, cardboard boxes etc and place in recycle bins. There was a separate utility room with a washing machine/dryer (useful for ski equipment as well). This room interconnected with the other bedroom (which was blocked off). It seemed like the other bedroom had its own bathroom as well. The apartments are about a 15-20 min walk on Frankton Road into town and not far from Frankton track, which is a lovely track to walk on into town as well. There is also the yellow bus that you can catch as well (no.11 I think) which goes to town and to Remarkables Park Shopping Centre and the Airport. I really enjoyed my stayed here. Because I booked online and stayed more than 2 nights, I got a bottle of Prada perfume delivered to my apartment (valued at NZ$167). That made my day after our long drive from Christchurch. This place would be perfect for a family or two couples travelling together.
My wife and I recently spent 2 nights at Alpine Apartments either side of walking the Routeburn Track. The accomodation was extremely good being very comfortable, clean and warm and being a leisurely 10 minutes walk from Queenstown central. The staff were always polite and helpful offering to assist with bookings, taxi's etc. I can thoroughly recommend staying at Alpine Apartments.
