location for this hotel is very good and the personal of the hotel was very friendly towards us. The personal make this hotel more appealing. The rooms are medium size and they have strong air conditioning. breakfast was fantastic every morning and the personal again helpful. We go every year and drinking presidente local beer and eating best fresh fish everyday is possible with small budget. everything very good.

My wife, our teenage daughters and I just returned after a 10 nights stay at the Whala and we liked our stay a lot. We didn't expect a modern property with massive pools and large number of restaurants and all bells and whistles and we were actually very happy with both rooms and location of the hotel. We didn't spend a lot of time around the pool because we are beach people but we did drive around a lot of naturally beautiful places in and around Punta Cana and the food, the people and the country are beautiful. Wouldn't hesitate to go back tomorrow.

A group of 4 of us stayed 1 night here before our stay at the Hard Rock Resort. This place was horrible! The bathroom/Shower was very dirty. The water smelled like rotten eggs I'm sure to high sulfur content. The beds were hard as a rock with just a sheet to cover with. The food buffett, eh, it was ok. If your looking to drink, good luck. The beers they serve you are in tiny plastic cups. Mixed drinks are disgusting. I highly recommend to NOT STAY HERE. Also, during our stay hardly saw any other Americans at the resort also.

Good location and 3 minutes walk to the beach from hotel. Most staff are friendly and the rooms are basic but clean. The air conditioning make a bit of a noise but cools the room to perfection. We didn't rent a vehicle and we are glad we didn't because the drivers there are mad and not safe. In total it was a good experience and comfortable. Food is cheap and the breakfast at the hotel includes lot of fresh quality fruit. We would recommend a stay of 5 days to see and do everything.

Went here for the sun and beach and got exactly that. Great location and made the most of it. Hotel isn't the newest but it is kept clean and well maintained and the warm staff make you feel like you chose the right place to stay and relax. Food is good with good daily variation for a smaller sized hotel. Think we got a bargain for the great holiday we had here.

The staff here were the nicest crew. Everyone was very accommodating. The food was good, buffet and restaurant. Facilities in the room were good, 24 hr reception. Punta cana is famed for it's beaches and the private beach is very close. Price could keep us coming back.

The hotel is better than the 3 star rating and has everything we wanted. We found the hotel more of a secluded type rather than a flashy hotel but above average and a great price. Room was nice and large and the staff great but not all speak English. Beach location was excellent.

Very well presented hotel with very caring staff, well groomed hotel rooms and restaurant. A special mention to the bartenders by the beach who looked out for us the entire vacation. The hotel is quiet, we were left to ourselves to relax and enjoy the beach and perfect weather, and that's just how we wanted it. The hotel is family friendly, but we only saw a handful of well behaved kids, it was still a very quiet and relaxed vibe.

My boyfriend and I really received amazing treatment from all the staff at the hotel, I emailed them and told them we were excited to travel to their hotel for our anniversary, so when we checked in they told us they gave us a free upgrade to a room with a bigger bed and a nice balcony, we were so surprised and so happy. The rest of the vacation was just as nice, the beach is beautiful and the weather is just spectacular. It was mostly other couples staying at the hotel so it was pretty quiet and relaxing. The food didnt vary much from day to day, but it was all tasty and fresh, and lots of fresh cut fruit every morning that was so delicious and sweet. We had a great time thanks to the thoughtful staff of Whala hotel.

When my boyfriend and I first booked the hotel room, we were kind of skeptical about all the mixed reviews. We really weren't sure what to expect. However, once we arrived we were pleasantly surprised. At first, we had a standard room, it was a little on the older side, but pretty decent and clean. However, the bed was not as sturdy as it appeared. After finding this out, we let the Roberto at the front desk know, and he let us view other rooms to see if they had more sturdy beds. However, the other rooms did not. So, my boyfriend and I just upgraded to a suite. It was only an extra $20 a night-and it was worth it! The suite was nice and spacious, and it was newer than the standard room. The only thing that sucked about the suite was the air conditioner was not blowing out cool air. However, towards the last few days, the air conditioner started to blow out cooler air. As far as the wi-fi, it worked well in the lobby and in the living room of our suite. However, it didn't work as well in our bedroom. The wifi-is also $10 per day, per device. My boyfriend paid $60 for both of us to have access to wifi for the week. The thing is, we were on vacation so we didn't really care about the wifi, but we needed it to make some reservations and check in with family back home. So, it was good for that, not good if you are trying to get work done. As far as the food, we upgraded to the all inclusive package once we got there. Again, Roberto at the front desk was more than friendly. He gave us a great deal to upgrade. They had breakfast. lunch and dinner. To be honest, the food was hit or miss. It wasn't as great as we expected it to be. However, my boyfriend loved the Dorado. The key is to go eat when they first open the buffet for the eating times. This way you are getting freshly cooked food, and it tastes a little better. The Beach-- The beach was awesome! No, it's not exactly on the resort, but it's literally a 1-minute walk away. You walk out of Whala! and down an open path, and the white sand beach and crystal clear water await you! My boyfriend and I are not heavy drinkers, but since we were on vacation, we occasionally took advantage of the all inclusive drinks. Reyson and Luis Guillermo at the pool bar far exceeded our expectations. They always greeted us with a smile and wave, even when we didn't sit at the bar. (We had to walk past the bar to get to the lobby/buffet area). They made us feel very special and welcome. They had 3 pools and they all looked clean, and was perfect for lounging. The Gym-- I don't even think you should call that a gym. It was a broken down bike, beat up treadmill, and barely functional weight machine. I didn't trust the equipment. However, there is a gym less than a 5-minute walk away called EL GYM - and it's only $ 5 per person per day to use. It had a lot of decent equipment and it was a full functioning gym with everything you need for a great workout. The location of Whala! is great. Even though it's a bit further from other resorts, there is everything you need just a stone's throw away. There's a gym, laundromat, supermarket, smoothie stands, and a slew of restaurants less than a 5-minute walk away. If you want to have a great time at Whala! I highly recommended upgrading to a suite, and not relying on wi-fi there. It's a great resort, the staff is super friendly and helpful. It was tons of fun! Oh yeah, the power and water did go out while there, however, it was only for a very short time. I am used to living in Thailand and power outages are a normal thing. So, it didn't phase me. It wasn't Whala's fault- that's just how the Country is. I feel like I may be missing something, hopefully, I can edit this review if I have more to add. In a nutshell, Whala Bavaro was great!
