VIK hotel Arena Blanca - All Inclusive

The hotel seemed great at first. Beautiful location, lovely huge pool and manicured grounds, and lots of bars everywhere. Unfortunately they said they had 5 restaurants but really only had two open. They decided to construct a new dining deck two days before Christmas and the sounds of saws and hammers etc. right next to the pool went non-stop for 24 hours. The alcohol available at the numerous bars was completely watered down and tasted terrible. There was not even any real alcohol available to purchase. Our room smelled so bad from mold we burned candles and had both windows open the whole time. The rooms fan didn't work either. Also, the wifi worked only in the lobby and was sporadic. I would never go there again. Yes, first world problems in the third world, but it certainly cost enough to warrant better.

Hotel was spotless, staff extremely accommodating; our needs were taken care of even though not all understood English. Have no complaints about accommodations. Foods however; the meats overall were overcooked to my taste - though I believe may be a cultural difference - didn't matter whether bacon, burgers or steaks. Speciality restaurants were great! Seafood, Italian and the best for me was the Mexican; both for food and one of the best margarita's I've had in a long time. Biggest complaint of my fellow travelers was that in all inclusive package, top shelf alcohol was not included. Excursions offered by on ground personnel were a joke. None of the packages were what we signed up for. ie.: snorkling package - bartered down from $80 to 65.00 pp. What we got was 1.5 hour ride to site, stopping off to shop for 45 min on the way(didn't want to shop), only getting 15mins to snorkle, and then being taken to beach for 3.5 hours, followed by a booze-stop over. Was a good day- but not what we had paid for.

Good for 5 days, not more. Beach is good. and Animation is excellent.

Tip: extra at checkin and see if you can get an ocean front room in bldg 5, but there's a lot of great ocean view rooms in almost every bldg. All staff was great on site. If u have used baseball hats or little mcdonalds toys or crayons feel free to bring for the hotel staff when you check out or during game your trip. The AC is AWESOME in all the rooms. You can ask the gardeners for a fresh coconut and tip them. Book your excursions ahead of time if you are limited on time. Food is typical hotel all inclusive food, Wednesdays are authentic DR local food. So sad I missed it.

We arrived after 14+ hours of traveling and they told us they were sending us to a different resort for 1 night (they tried to make it sound like a perk because we were special). We told them we did not want to do that after traveling so long, but we had no choice. They gave us $90.00 towards an excursion to compensate. I found the staff behind the counters to be kind of rude. The buffet was good but not very varied from day to day, basically same thing every night with a slight variation to a couple things. I would not recommend unless it is A LOT cheaper than other resorts. The other resorts we saw were a lot nicer. Punta Cana Princess, where they sent us the 1st night, was really nice and more friendly.

PUNTA CANA is beautiful place to stay. VIK offer a number of valuable service, very clean, beach are clear and warm water at Arena Blanca. Staff were all very courtes and always very attentive. The variety of restaurants & food in the resort were AMAZING! The're a numbers of bars with great choices and the pools were wonderful aswell. Will definitely recommend & am looking foward staying at the VIK over my next visit to Dominican Republic, can't wait!! :-) ☆☆☆☆☆

Nice and clean However they should have a pakage that includes seafood :-)

AS I NEED TO SAY VERY SAD ABOUT THIS TRIP,SERVICE VERY POOR,NICE LOCATION.GOT SICK DUE OF FOOD POISENING,EVERYTHING IS A CHARGE.DON'T RECOMEND

It was fine for me by myself, but I wouldn't go for an anniversary or anything special. It's a bit dated and could definitely use some upgrades. The food was good and the beaches were nice, so if you're just looking for a place to go and don't plan on staying in the room you should be ok.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to enjoy their stay in Punta Cana with great food and activities. The value of this resort is the worst on the beach strip. DON'T GO HERE!!!

This hotel was in a beautiful location. The buffet food was average, the italian and mexican restaurants were very good. The rooms were average. We had 6 rooms with 13 people. The beds in some of the rooms were uncomfortable. The pool was ok. The bar was simple, drinks were small. They did throw together a wedding ceremony that was very nice. We didn't do too many things since there were no group rates. If you don't have alot of money this works.

I saw room pics at hotel website. it turned out that those pics are suites only and not standard rooms. There is no upgrade to a suite because suites are tun by a different company, cayena beach club and are offered for time share. food is average, breakfast and lunch are served at the buffet restaurant and that is the only option. there are 3 more all inclusive a la carte restaurants, mexican, italian and seafood. cayena bach club has 2 non inclusive extra charge restaurants. they also offer health spa services and romantic dinners by the beach at extra charge. the stuff often speaks little to no english, so you have to be imaginative ans use fingeres and hands to explain what you need. room ventilation is terrible and everything smelled of cigars although i asked for non smoking room. one of the cheaper hotels, but just plain average.

Everything was good minus the food. There were 2 a la carts but construction made them alternate menus. Buffet had good selection but not enough seafood. No kids menus also makes it hard for selecting food for the little ones. The animation staff was great!

Property - very nice Room - mold and mildew in the bathroom. Room smelled funny. Had to air it out. Nowhere to sit except on patio furniture inside. TV was fuzzy the whole time. Think of it as a The Econo Lodge on the beach. Food - hit and miss. Buffet was...well...buffet food. Not great. Serving stations where food was freshly cooked was good. Pizza/snack bar was really good. Fresh baked. Beach - wonderful. Plenty of places to lounge, cool breeze all the time, water clear and comfortable. No trouble with panhandlers or vendors. Pool - very nice. Staff - very nice, helpful and attentive. Tip - plan to stay on the resort and bring a book. Nothing is within walking distance and taxis are a ripoff.

If you're a family this is the perfect place. But if you're a couple or single friends going for a getaway I would recommend somewhere else. The staff was amazing and always helpful. The food was not good at any of the restaurants. The entertainment was great and they plenty of activities for children and families. The location was about 30 min away from the airport and if you wanted to get into town (I wouldn't recommened) but the cost would probably be about $30 minimum one way. The resort was beautiful, but some of the rooms were not upgraded. But the beach and views were breathtaking.

If you a student looking for a spring break experience, don't go here!! Its all old people. And sadly the resort next door, Ocean Blue & Sands has all the ladies you dreamt off but in freaken punta cana, you can't set foot on a resort thats not yours, or invite your friends over! so you are not bring in any game. So you better pick a hotel that has people your age. Besides this..foods great

This is only the second all-inclusive that we have stayed at and we are totally converted after this trip. We go for the beach and this one was excellent. The food was good and there were plenty of choices at the buffet. Though this resort was larger (# of rooms) than any we've previously visited, everything was convenient - bars, restaurants, room. The lobby was a nice spot to pause for a cocktail or espresso after a day on the beach.

our overall experience with this hotel was stressful from check in.

the hotel did not have our confirmation from or4bitz and made us return twice a day while they were waiting for [...]to confirm.therefore we were under stress for four days.

The food was good, but not the best I've had. The front desk was a bit defensive, almost like they didn't know what they were doing sometimes. It is a nice place to lay in the sun. They do have a phase two which is newer and nicer and is all suites for a higher room rate.
