Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana - Adults Only - All Inclusive

Recent guest reviews

This was my first time at an all-inclusive. I had avoided them because I feared the quality of food and drink would be low. Secrets Royal Beach far exceeded my expectations. The property was amazing, the staff friendly and helpful, the food and drink were great. There were some restaurants that were better than others but my overall experience was awesome.

Pros: Beautiful grounds, a few friendly staff, night entertainment Cons: Bitter staff members yelling at each other, dirty beach, loud room, HORRIBLE FOOD, and lack of emergency training We have been to DR before, but after this experience will be sure not to return or ever book another stay with Secrets/AM resorts. Myself and 3 family members got food poisoning days after checking in. Mine was so bad that I fainted from dehydration, had to be carried to on site doctor, who called an ambulance and later taken to related hospital. Was charged over $1000 USD to be told I had a bacterial infection. Hotel management wanted nothing to do with our complaint, very unprofessional. Secrets customer rep, please do not respond to this review, blaming "the change in weather and diet." Good thing for word of mouth, as I'll be telling everyone I know about my experience so that they won't book with Secrets /AM Resorts.

Excellent service, great food, amazing vacation! It was great having access to the restaurants next door at the Larimar Now. Try the shrimp burrito at Tamarindo (next door at Larimar Now) you won’t be disappointed. We brought our insulated tumblers for ice water, which worked out well on the beach. The filet at the Seaside Grill is delicious. we had the best food at the individual restaurants, Himitsu was our favorite, though we didn’t know a reservation was required to sit at the cooking table. The service at Secrets was amazing! They were so accommodating. The nightly entertainment was fantastic. Beautiful beach with plenty of shaded huts and wait staff ready to take our order. It says gratuity is included but the staff went out of their way to provide excellent service so we tipped everywhere we went and they really appreciated it. I cannot say enough positive things about this resort in paradise.

Check in was fast and easy however as soon as we arrived we noticed a mildew smell from our room. We just decided to tough out and tried to enjoy the stay and avoid changing rooms. Then, whengoing out dinner the wait staff was always arguing amongst each other or just didn’t know what they were doing. Finally on our 3rd day we got food poisoning as well as the other two guests that we were traveling with. She got really bad, that had to be transported to the hospital. We didn’t get to enjoy our last three days and were confined to our rooms. We were scared to eat their food and their water. The management didn’t accommodate us or feel any sympathy towards us and not getting to enjoy our vacation that we so long were looking forward to and paid a lot of money for. I am truly disappointed with the hotel and the service provided during this stay. And would like to receive partial if our money back or take this matter further.

This resort went beyond my expectations! We spent 10 days 9 nights in a swim up suite, which I would totally recommend! So where do I start? The food. Breakfast and lunch were alright. You only have the option of the buffet, unless you are preferred member then you have the option of one restaurant. But, you can also go to the NOW buffet which is a lot bigger. Dinners were always amazing. You get the 3-4 courses but can get more if you want. Order 3 starters if you want. Share 3 entrees if you want. Lunch is served until 330, but dinner doesn't start til 630. If you miss lunch and want a late dinner, you can order room service 24 hours a day no free of charge. The room service menu isn't very large but it's alright for a small snack, but you do have to wait 45 minutes for it. But dinner is amazing, especially the hibatchi, seaside grill, and oceana. The room. We had a swim up, located in the middle of the property, perfect. It was half way between the restaurants and main pool and the main lobby. The room was large and very clean. The housekeepers would clean it in the morning and then do turn down service in evening, refilling towels and fridge items each time. When booking, we were torn between swim up or preffered club (about the same price). I would definitaly choose swim up. People were getting up super early to save a chair by the pool, but if you have a swim up you don't have to worry about it as you get your own loungechairs on your patio.

I am not an all-inclusive fan so take this with a grain of salt....the food was terrible! The drinks were great unless you wanted American beer or any sort of good wine/champagne. The beach was beautiful-minus the piles of seaweed stacked up in front of the water. The service was EXCELLENT! Marcelo was the best "butler" and was SUPER helpful and resourceful. He made our trip!

Friendly staff, great food, great drinks, fun activities or just relaxation if that’s your preference. Everyone goes out of their way to make sure your stay is excellente!!

From the time we checked in the staff was amazing food excellent best resort ever!

Had an amazing still here. This resort is small but ideal for couples. Beautiful, clean big rooms with a hot tub in the patio. I stayed in a swim up room and it was perfect! Food was decent, the Steak House was very good, we had dinner here twice.

Very disappointed with the food especially due to how much I paid for the trip. No excuse.

The room & hotel was everything it said it would be.

Registration area and lobby bar were dated and not adequately air conditioned. Took about 30 minutes to check in after arriving at lobby. Restaurants were okay, but not excellent, also not well air conditioned. However, the buffet restaurants were very good with wide assortment of very good food.. House wines, both red and white, were substandard and greatly detracted from the all inclusive experience. Activities were less than comparable all inclusive resorts. Staff was excellent and entertainment was about the same as similar resorts. I would give the resort a 4.0 star.

Need more improvement on the Italian restaurant the food is terrible like the pizazz and the pasta

I loved our stay at Secrets, they have excellent customer service. Many restaurants, and things to due on the resort. I really liked live entertainment at nights. Best all inclusive for the price.

Excellent Beach and entertainment. Very good service Food was ok to good. One bad experience with the service at Portifino

Sit back, relax and soak up the rum and sun. If that is what you want to do then this is the right place for you. Other than the sales pitch it was a perfect vacation. We could do what we wanted and when we wanted. The food was wonderful, but at times the service lacked but only during peek times. Leo on the beach (can't remember how to spell his name) and Angel for our swim up room drinks made the stay fun and relaxing. The entertainment staff was always putting something together to get you to interact and get out of your comfort zone which makes for great memories. We went with Seapro for a diving trim and it was wonderful. Not sure the preferred section is all that great. Their pool is small and they have to walk further for the lazy river and the better restaurants. The room may be nicer but who wants to be inside or at a small pool next to the sister resort with kids when you want adults only. Highly recommend the swim up rooms. We were in room 4140 which had lots of sun compared to the other side. The VIP staff wants you to spend money for things like the spa etc. If that is what you are there then make sure you stop by there. The people that do the Vacation Unlimited sales pitch pretend to be best friends but when you say no the smile goes away and they want nothing to do with you. The staff is what makes the place unforgettable. Always smiling and always willing to help.

Overall it was a great time , the pool, with the lazy river was very nice, it was also awesome having the beach steps away..

Great food, fun activities, gorgeous beach, perfect for groups, amazing staff.

We budget and plan on being on a sandy beach every year around the end of January. We have birthdays very close together, and fleeing the cold of the Midwest to be lounging on a sandy beach is something we look forward to annually. This is our third consecutive year traveling for our joint event, and the Secrets Royal Beach experience was a very warm welcome. We upgraded to the Preferred level and enjoyed all the small little perks that come with it: expedited check in/out, a preferred lounge that offers the best beer, wine, and liquor, access to the preferred beach facilities with top notch beverage service and a butler to assist with things. I highly recommend utilizing the VIP service through the airport, this has to be set up through the airport and is completely separate from Secrets! Also, you can arrange for personal transportation to and from the airport in a private van. The combination of these two services is worth every penny as we were able to speed through the airport on arrival, essentially bypassing every line on our way to our transport that was waiting for us. We were the first ones on our flight to be on the beach by probably a couple of hours. Another tip is to bring plenty of $1.00 and $5.00 bills. The staff are very receptive to enhancing your experience when some cash is around to sweeten the pot. Though not required, it is a show of good faith, and the economy their allows for a massive economic boon from a small amount of US dollars.

Staff was amazing; they went above and beyond to make our trip one to remember. In carnival Modesto and migeal had our table decorated differently daily. By the pool angel, leonoibs, and Carlos never let our drinks run low. Lucus and the entire front counter staff were out of this world. They made my friends 60th birthday one of a kind.

Dear Jessica, we truly understand your feelings and on behalf of every other member in our team and me we are very sorry that we caused you such inconvenience. Travelers are always going to be a little more vulnerable to getting sick due to the stress and excitement inherent in the travelling process. Once you add a change in time zone and climate, changes to your usual diet, and over-indulgence in drinking and sun; the likelihood for vulnerability to getting sick increases. However, we will socialize your feedback with the department involved in order to improve. Best regards,
