Loved this trip. My main complaint is that double beds are actually more like super twins, very small!! The staff is amazing. They don’t provide a lot of information so you have to ask what shows there are each night and what is available in what restaurant. All in all I would go back but to a bigger room.

So much potential. Read on if you need more detail. First the good things; beautiful grounds, great beach & pools, and super friendly staff. The problem areas; we upgraded to The Level (based on previous reviews) and struggled to see any difference other than having a concierge and beach and poolside wait service - we still had to pay extra to eat at certain restaurants, and had to pay more for premium beverages like Corona (yuk!). In retrospect it wasn't worth it. Regarding the food; it was so-so at best, the buffet was really bad. If you stay here be sure to order off the menu - it is far better! Side note; the Italian restaurant was closed for private weddings for 4 nights, real bummer when you expect to be able to eat there. Our room was sizable and fairly clean but the only stock items in the fridge were Nestle bars, Water, Coke, Sprite and Coors light. Additionally, we did have a few visitors in our bathroom (cockroaches) - I toss this up to the region as they're prevalent in the DR, but the resort should put door sweeps under the door to keep them from entering rooms. Lastly, I wish the resort would invest in larger/reusable drink ware - it's not very satisfying to have a cocktail on the beach in an 8 ounce plastic cup. Overall, I give it a C+ with some simple changes (and perhaps a new head chef) this place could be so much better..

Fairly decent resort. Looks perfect on pictures, but a little different in person. Food is the same at each restaurant, and par quality at best. My wife and I had to flag a server down on several occasions during some meals just to get a glass of water. Transportation shuttles were inconsistent and unless you tip each person you come in contact with for some type of service (transportation, room service, drinks from bar, etc.) the locals are somewhat rude. Anything and everything you do, locals expect a tip.

Beautiful resort with a very friendly staff. At this Resort, be prepared to walk a lot! Everything is spread out. Even though there is a tram, there is still a lot of walking involved. Also, there is currently quite a bit of construction going on.

Have been here three times. Not happy with check in. Took two hours. I emailed three times and called two times prior to visit. No response. Huge and beauty complex. Only asked that my children not be so far away from us in another room and boy were they. Checked us in to a room only to get there and find out someone else was staying in it. Accommodated us the next day. Waisted so much time.

Hotel is excellent, service is excellent, food is tasty, They don't skimp on resources to make you feel good

Just finished a 5 day stay with my family of 5. The beaches and grounds are incredible. Check in very smooth, staff very friendly, loved the guys st the pool bar(Javier and Yoci) and Fanny was awesome. The food at the buffet needs help(Pizza) breakfast and dinner in American grill and Mexican place were very good. Drinks-Beaches and sun in March as my son proclaimed this place is paradise.

loved the resort and the vacation. The bartenders at the pool bar were not very friendly. Fannie in activities was Awesome!!

We’ve probably gone to the Melia Caribe 6-7 Times now. It’s truly a tropical paradise set up like a little village that is beautifully landscaped. There are also 11 different restaurants of varied nationalities to choose from with excellent food.

Stayed here with friends at the Level, based on their previous experience 2 years ago. Checking in was a long and tedious process, we arrived at 3:30 local time took over 45 minutes to get a room, were not offered any refreshments, and request to be in the same bulilding as our friends was not granted. The room was dated with rust on mirrors limited space in a junior suite for luggage and the bathroom was open to the rest of the suite not ideal when traveling with a family of 4. Then at night we discovered we were on golf cart highway. As the golf carts are used to shuffle guests around the large resort we heard them busing like they were i our room until 2 am and they started back up at 7 am. After 2 days they changed our room to the building with our friends and this room was cleaner and the Bedroom was off the main path so somewhat quieter. The food was ok but nothing great. We found out after checkng in the a recent fire forced the relocation of several restaurants to a make shift spot on the opposite side of the resort so our options were very limited. We had one great meal at the Steak and Lobster restaurant there was great service and food here but was not part of any of the all inclusive plans. The other restaurant all had poor service and staff that didn’t seem to care at all, the exception being the Gabi the level only restaurant,. The Gabi bartenders and waitstaff were amazing and kind.

Takes too long to check in. Be prepared for a lot of walking.

One of the front desk staff is really rude. Multiple of our group members got stomach sick during the stay. The food was so so, tasteless.

Ok resort. Very family friendly. Was not impressed much with the food. Basically the same buffet every day. the al a carte restaurants are only open certain nights. 2 restaurants we’re open Thursday and Friday nights with out letting guest aware. So we missed out to try them. Also I feel like the staff is looking for a tip for everything.

Place needs a major overhaul. The beach area was not cleaned up food .plastic cups. Long wait at check it . Then they gave me a key to a room that was occupied. How embarrassing . How could you ever make that mistake ! The where giving me a voucher for a massage. And everyday the general manager said Tomorrow. But that never came . Do yourself a favor. Go somewhere else !!!

My room was filthy . Toilet broken. My sheets had blood on them and bugs on shower floor. Disgusting

This resort is very large and takes some time to navigate. That being said check in was a hot mess we were sent to go get lunch and then come back we did and then given a room an hour- 2 hours later which is a bummer thats why I choose our flights the way we do so we can be on the beach and start enjoying vacation ASAP. So i booked so i thought a king size bed but apparently thats just a request so we get to the room and its two twin beds the resort was totally booked i doubt that but thats what the said took 2 days to get a king bed which the beds are awful so awful spent most of my morning recovering from sleeping on it. Food is nothing special even at the reservation restaurants which the front desk didn't tell us about or give us the wifi pass code it was just sorta a joke .. we asked if we could upgrade to "level" which trust me if that braclet isn't on you your not getting a lift on the golf carts its like proverty and the wealthy lol its laughable . No one shows you where anything is at we felt like we were the inconvenience when we went to down to ask if a room was ready same gentlemen every time we spent a lot of time dealing with this issue so much so i won't waste anyones time ... luckily we didn't pay as much as we usually do and if we had i would have left as soon as we arrived . Next time we will stay at the other 3 resorts we have stayed at in the Dominican !

I spent 10 days at Meliá with my husband and our 13 years old daughter and we had a magic moment. The check in was fast and the person was very helpful finding us the perfect room near the pool and beach. The laidies who took care of our room was very friendly also and provided us everything we asked for. Restaurants, the food was delicious and the stuff was perfect always giving us a smile. The beach dance boys and the lobby dancing boys and girls group was the best ones providing us a excelente time either at the beach at day time and at the lobby at night time. The shows was awesome every night. Security guys and the drivers were very helpful as well... we sure are going back to Meliá

awesome 5 day stay
