Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar Blue - Adults Only All Inclusive

I had a lovely, relaxing week in the adult only Ambar Blue resort within the Bahia Principe Resort. The pool area is lovely and the pool bar has delicious (free pour!) cocktails. You can wander straight out onto the beach, which is quite packed with umbrellas and loungers but is still a beautiful beach with a nice breeze! I enjoyed doing the classes by the pool and beach (zumba, salsa etc), although the staff do tend to make the routines up on the spot so they can be a bit hit and miss. Be sure to ask for an activity timetable when you check in or from the reception another time - the info is available upon request! I thought the food was fantastic. The buffets have plenty of variety and you will not go hungry. There are lots of restaurants on site to try although some you may have to book ahead of time - I recommend the Portofino Italian, the Rodizio and the Teppanyaki. The Ambar Blue is a mini resort within a large Bahia resort. You could easily spend your time within the adult only section, which has a pool and some of the best restaurants. But you also have the opportunity to venture to the resort village (via the little electric vehicles if you want) to see some of the other areas and watch some of the entertainment. Lion King (including some of the kids from the other areas was fantastic, even for an adult!) I have not stayed in a resort within a resort like this before, but I thought it worked really well. Very clean rooms and Melvin the butler was great!

Average resort. Lots of beach chairs and palapas lead to crowding on long narrower beach. Dominican a la carte was a big disappointment. Maiko was decent. Rodizio, Bella Italian, and Garden Grill average with the grill one being the best. Breakfast and lunch buffets good. Lobby bar and specialty evening drink were better than average. Room okay.

My boyfriend and I traveled to Punta Cana and stayed in Ambar Blue. Our room faced construction, but we were not bothered by loud noises. We arrived at 11p and our room's air conditioning was not working. After 2 hours, various maintenance men, and trips to the lobby, we were moved to a room in Ambar Green. It took longer than it was supposed to because their computer system was down (per the receptionist). The next day our a/c was fixed and we were able to move back to our original room with no issues. The food is decent and appealing the first couple of days, but gets old after 3-4 days of eating the same items. We had no luck making reservations at any of the restaurants as they were all booked prior to us arriving. We got massages at the Spa and that was great! The Spa lost the reservation I made prior to us arriving, but was able to work us in the same afternoon. The beach and ocean are absolutely beautiful and very well-cared for. We made reservations for parasailing & Bavaro Splash through the hotel and had a very unsafe parasailing experience (unable to be reeled in and crashed into the water until we were rescued by boats) so decided to cancel the Bavaro Splash. Our receipt said less than 48 hours notice of cancelling would receive a 50% refund, we were told we would get nothing returned. The staff was quite unwilling to help and made light of the situation. Very disappointing. Though the majority of our trip was great, we would not return to this hotel.

Lo pasamos increíble lindo el lugar, las comidas excelentes, personal amable fueron unas vacaciones inolvidables!!

A/c doesn't work well they cannot be adjusted. Phone in room didn't work when told at desk it was completely disregarded. No wash clothes even when requested.

We stayed at the Ambar Blue part of the resort, which is very close to the beach. Some of the resorts in this huge complex require you to take a tram to get to the beach. We arrived late in the day and did not get to our room until almost 11 pm. We had booked a King room, but were given a room with two double beds. The bell boy said that we should go to the desk in the morning and request a room change. We did this, and they attempted to put us in a King room that was directly facing a very loud construction site. We decided to stay one more night in the original room, and finally got moved to a proper King room on the next day. Also, early in our stay, we were approached by a resort representative from their "Privilege Club". We were told that we had to just sit through a one hour presentation, after which we would receive a "welcome gift". We ultimately did not attend the presentation, but were told by other guests that it actually lasts for four hours, during which they ply the attendees with alcohol and then attempt to get you to give them your credit card number so that they can charge $15,000 to it. So be vary wary of these people. There are also many really nice things about this place. We liked the food at the buffets, and also dined at several of the on site restaurants. Most of the staff were very friendly, but knowing at least conversational Spanish will be a big help to you. We also enjoyed the pool w/ swim up bar and the covered beach chairs.

This was hands down the best all inclusive resort that we've ever been to. It was literally seven resorts in one. Great staff, rooms were good, resort was clean, pool and beach were great and the food was good.

The overall experience was really good however checking in was bad! We reserved Ambar Blue but when we were taken to our room it was in Ambar Green. We told the shuttle driver that we should be in Blue and after the language barrier was overcome he took us back to the lobby. The manager in the lobby said that Green was better and cheaper than Blue even though we knew it wasn't! Bottom line is we stayed in Green because if we were to move to Blue all that was available was rooms in front of the noisy construction! Honestly we ended up loving our room in Green however the walk to the beach would have been much better if we were in Blue. The maids only gave us wash clothes 1 time and that is when we wrote a note and left a large tip requesting them! The other times I tracked down a maid and asked for them which wasn't easy but I always got them. Now for the good! The beach is wonderful and the drink service while on the beach was rather good also. The water was crystal clear with little to no seaweed! The pool was very nice although it was really hard to get a chair! The bartenders were all great and more than happy to provide you with drinks. The buffets were all ok but we got tired of them as they have the same thing everyday! The a la carts restaurants were pretty good also and our favorite was the Mashua by the Ambar Green Pool!

Great vacation, hotel was nice and very clean. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Great beach and lots of pools. Food was ok at the buffets and better at the a la carte restaurans. Would definitely go here again.

Had a wonderful time. Hotel and hotel staff was great. Very friendly and courteous. Rooms were clean. Food was good.

The arrival was a bit confusing as we were brought to the Bahia green first by the shuttle company. We then waited about fifteen minutes until another shuttle came to deliver us to our Bahia Blue hotel location. Multiple luggage handlings means more opportunity for the bell boys and porters. Check in was the next step at this point and was chaotic as the front desk had no rhythm to deal with the people coming inbound . We were dropped mid stride by one representative as we were a half hour early. We were directed to the bar for drinks which was fine. When we came a short while later we were given our envelope and no explanation of any kind. upon getting to the room we found we were not given any room keys so, I had to make a trip back up to the front desk and things even were busier so, that took a while amid more confusion. The property was well kept and very nice. We did get lucky with a room in the closest building to the beach (not ocean view) which was nice and convenient to the pool and beach. Food was OK for buffet as it always gets old after a week. Staff was courteous and helpful although you may regularly have to ask for things several times though depending on the timing. Rooms were cleaned well daily. The beach was OK as there was a constant sea weed crew picking the beach up to keep it clean. The beach for this property was narrow so, the beach remained crowded and if you did not get up early for some seats were out of luck.

Beautiful facilities and an extremely helpful and friendly staff made for a memorable stay. The food was exceptional. And the easyJet was perfect.

Overall staff are polite. Front desk is incompetent. They are lack of hotel management skills. If crisis arise, do not know how to give possitve direction. Instead giving you the run around and never follow up.

The common areas, restaurants, and pool areas were beautiful, but that is the only nice thing there is to say. The food was awful at the buffets as well as the a la Carter restaurants every day. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were terrible- the same food everywhere and it was never hothe or cold, everything was just this gross temperature as if it had all been sitting out for hours. The rooms were never really clean, regardless of if they had just been cleaned. They were always sticky, sandy, and there was hair everywhere. The beds were hard and the sheets were so worn there were holes in them. The mini bar was included in room costs but it was never restocked, we asked three times for it to be filled, as well as for an umbrella and no one ever came. The staff has little understanding of English so could never help us with directions or even ordering drinks. And that was if you were even lucky enough to get one of the staff's attention. It was the most disappointing and overrated resort/hotel I've ever stayed in.

Nice hotel with the potential to really make for a wonderful stay but the staff is very bland and not exciting or totally welcoming. If your a family or couple looking for a quiet vacation then its perfect for you.

...we came to Punta Cana to breath ocean air, not AC ,but there are no mosquito screens on the doors and this forced us keep them closed at night...disappointing. Also the plugs in the room are positioned in such a way that sitting on the sofa and reading while having a lamp next to you is impossible. The free internet is totally useless even to read your email, unless you pay and upgrade it...disappointing as well otherwise good beach and pool decent food and friendly staff...would rate it 4,5* VB

We had a clean room and the facility was immaculate. We had some difficulty communicating with the staff since we didn't speak Spanish and some didn't speak English at all. Other than that hiccup, we had a wonderful time just relaxing and enjoying the resort and the beauty of it all.

We were in the older section of the complex although we thought we were supposed to be in the new one. We were very close to pools, buffets and walking distance from the beautiful beach. The popular pools and beach areas are clean and well maintained. Pool and room service staff were always friendly, drinks plentiful and the Dominican beer, el Presidente always cold. Activities were minimal especially at night. My son enjoyed kayaking We didn't care for the karaoke type "live" performers nor the quality of the band at the tacky stage venue (across from the tiny casino) but you get what you pay for. Buffets were plentiful but quality just ok. Japanese styled restaurant is the only one we'd recommend bothering to reserve and reserve it the first morning you're there. All the offerings at this restaurant we're delicious. Definitely skip the "French" restaurant The dishes there were awful and pitifully portioned. The Italian, Portofino was disappointing. We had a late reservation and you could tell staff were ready to go home by the speed they removed our plates. Antipasto was good. We bought one excursion, the Dune buggy to a cave and a beach. If you do this, wear clothes you don't care about getting muddy or just wear your swimsuits and take a bit of cash for souvenirs at the two stops, a waterproof sleeve for your phone, and a bandana for your face. We loved this excursion! It was well worth the fifty $.

Had to write a complaint ... It was not a great experience. Staff wasn't welcoming ... We weren't told information that was important to our stay. Room service food was terrible and made me feel sick... We slept without a blanket two nights. Overall I would not be coming back to stay at this hotel.

Great resort. But never changed sheets just remade the bed. Always had enough towels, room service was nice but they forgot our breakfast one day. And worse part, had a worm in my salad when eating buffet. Everyone was nice and wanted to help, show you were to go, bring things to you etc.
