My husband and I and two adult sons enjoyed a 4 day mini vacation. We opted to stay at the adult only part aka The Hideway. This part of the resort was fabulous. We were greeted by Milley who was the Hideway's front person. She was so amazing, whatever we needed, she was there to help including booking reservations to the a la carte restaurants. We enjoyed the little kitchen area in the Hideway main lobby, we were happy to grab a quick sandwich, cheese or pastry any time of the day. Likewise, there was lots of alcoholic beverages, coffee, tea and espresso. We booked into 3 restaurants - the Dorada, The Hunter, and the Japanese one (forgot the name). They were all excellent although the Japanese food was my favourite. There were 3 pools to choose from in close proximity, the adult only quieter pool, the main pool for all ages and the pool bar pool. We hung out at the pool bar pool mostly. It was not too crowded and you could always find a chair. The beach was nice but the water was pretty choppy so we just walked along it and only swam once in it. There was entertainment at night, we enjoyed the Michael Jackson Tribute and the Silent party. We booked one excursion on a happy hour cruise, normally this is a good party but the other tourists were pretty quiet so not the big party that we are used to but we did enjoy being on the catamaran for a couple of hours. One final note, our room attendant, Joanna, was amazing. She was extremely helpful in getting us anything we need and was just so pleasant all the time. We stayed in room 1213 and our sons in 1225. We didn't have an ocean view but we were only there for 4 days so no big deal. I would definitely go to any of the Royalton hotels again.
The Hideaway is a beautiful resort. I loved the Dorado Restaurant by the beach. Food was delicious and Melvin the waiter was wonderful. He’s obviously been over looked as he would be an asset as a Butler. Ocean is strong and has a few rocks out front. If you go to your right around the corner no rocks. The stores don’t have much in them. Cute cats on the resort. I brought cat treats for the little darlings. I didn’t see any mosquitos which was good. Buffet had good food and plentiful. Very clean and furnishings were modern. Maids do a great job. Greighlyn at the buffet was always smiling and helpful. Watch out for the time share agents. The Diamond Club lounge was a nice touch. I would go back
Just back from 2 weeks at the Hideaway Punta Canta and overall a lovely hotel, great food, great service by some hard working employees. You do get bombarded by the Travel Smart reps who loiter at every turn like a bad smell,! Trying to sell you the benefits of joining the most expensive travel club ar £2500 per person for 10 years. You do get a welcome pack if you can sit through a 90 minute presentation!! I did not sit through it! Restaurants you do not need to book for, but in order to get a table at popular ones like Hunter steakhouse you need to go earlier and wait for a table! Speaking to others Diamon club is not worth the extra expense unless you really need a butler! Beware if you are here for 2 weeks the you won't have the same o e for duration as they work on a rotation system. Beach was nice, though affected by previous storms, but still lovely. You are 20 min taxi ride away from the local town about 20$ each way, San Juan shopping centre is worth a visit a lot cheaper than hotel shop where a basic cough mixture is £12.00 Dorado is the best restaurant with great steaks and seafood! Buffet has a vast choice of food to suit all tastes.
Overall the experience at the Hideaway at Royalton Punta Cana was a good one. here are some of our observations. Welcoming: Not a good start to our vacation. My wife had sustained an injury prior to our vacation and had limited mobility. When we arrived we were sent to the front desk and then told we had to go with another employee (turned out to be one of the butlers) who would take us and several others to the private Hideaway desk. There were two Butlers for approximately guests. The walk was long and for the first time visitor complicated but to make matters worse the butlers left my wife and i behind even though I had said to them that she would have difficulty walking. Unknown to them we bumped into someone we knew who was also checking in and happened to be an employee of Sunwing. He came back to help us. not the Butlers. Needless to say I was not impressed. Rooms: well done, well appointed but when someone books the Hideaway section why would they put guests out front of the main pool with all the other guests from the Royalton Punta Cana and the kids, the point was to have some sort of peace and quiet. Our Butler did not show us our room, direct us to any specifics around the property or explain what was available to us. When our Butler did arrive he asked us about reservations and requests. we asked for 2 reservations and provided a multiple choice of locations but asked for 7pm or later. we received 2 reservations but only one we asked for and both for 6pm. He told us the times and restaurants were not available but we found out on our own by booking our own times that they were. We asked for a bottle of house wine and a bucket of ice in the room before 3pm on the first day and just the ice for the other days. Not one time did we receive the items by the designated and agreed upon time. if at anytime they had offered another time or sent us a note we would have been fine. The ide was to help my wife with her injury and this was explained to him. I ended up going back out to one of the bars and getting these things. This too is ok but don't agree to offer the service and then not do it. We are purposefully leaving out names becasue we think its simply a lack of personal organization and maturity. All the other employees we encountered seemed to genuine care that we had a good time. Food: we love our food and generally choose resorts based on food and the beach. The food options were very good and we were quite satisfied. The Hideaway restaurant - Dorado was our favorite. We had lunch there almost everyday (try the grilled grouper. and dinner one night. The menu is limited but sufficient. The Steakhouse was one of the better we have been to at a resort and the Japanese was entertaining. The only thing that almost every guest we spoke to commented on was that everything was overly salted. The buffet is open to all guests but there is separate areas for Hideaway, Diamond club and standard quests. The reality is that this is ok but may not even be necessary. Breakfast was our favorite time for the locations. Don't forget to check out the coffee shop and the free soft serve icecream :) Beach - Its Punta Cana, so the beach is very good. We had several days of substantial wind which made for rougher water but still safe. The Hideaway section was quiet and we never had a problem finding loungers and palapa. I would say that they overcrowd the area and its comical as you have to literally climb over or around other loungers in some areas to try and get to yours. This doesn't seem necessary considering the small number of guests allowed in the private Hideaway area. Hint...the water out front of the Hideaway beach is actually the worst we found along the immense stretch of beach for rocks. Try rounding the bend and visiting the Royalton Bavaro where the beach and entry to the ocean are both exceptional. Worth going and would consider returning. This is our second Royalton location and they try hard. That might be all we can ask for and should expect. Shout out to Melvin (Dorado), Greihlan (Buffet Hideaway breakfast) - your smiles, honest attempts to make us feel welcome and conversations with us made our trip. thank you.
We had a great time at the Hideaway at Royalton! My wife and I went here for our honeymoon (10/1/19) and had a wonderful time. The staff was friendly and helpful. We got Julio as our butler and he attended our every need! He scheduled everything from our spa appointment, dinner reservations, excursions and assisted with our check in and check out! Luz at the front desk was extremely helpful as well. We had a few issues with our room (nothing major) and she made sure they were attended to right away. Our only complaint was with the breakfast food. It was pretty average no matter where you got it. However, the drinks were great and most of the food was pretty good! Make sure you eat at Dorado and Hunters steakhouse because those were by FAR the best restaurants!
First , our butler Victor Lopas was over the top ! Such a gentleman and man we now can call our friend . He went out of his way to arrange bookings at different restaurants, brought us fries to tie us over until dinner , even when it was raining our sweet Victor walked in the rain for us to accommodate us. The hotel was beautiful and clean. Staff lovely and friendly. Food was fabulous, The Hunters Steak house was my favorite. We were at the Hideaway part of the Royalton and had our own swim out pool which was lovely as well. My favorite bar at the beach was with Oliver and Big Poppy ! They served us with great drinks , friendly smiles and a warm heart .
My husband and I recently came back from a trip to the Hideaway and were completely overwhelmed with their service. The staff at this resort really go out of their way to make sure their guests to enjoy their stay. I have stayed at other resorts in DR and I have never experienced the level of service that the Royalton Hideaway staff provides. Our room was done promptly each morning, the fridge stocked daily and the room was again made up in the evenings with new towels, shampoo, etc. We enjoyed most of the a la carte restaurants we tried and the buffet food was also very good. The entertainment team was excellent and they have several programs throughout the day plus a different show every evening. A special "shout-out" to Tooty Fruty whose energy and vibrant personality are one of a kind. The grounds are kept immaculate and very clean. The only negative during our stay was the rainy weather thereby making the beach somewhat rough but otherwise clear and clean of any seaweed or algae. I highly recommend the Hideaway at the Royalton Punta Cana for an adult only getaway and can guarantee that it will not disappoint.
This hotel has excellent staff and they give wonderful service, restaurants are really good an serve really good food. The main buffet restaurant, always a very good selection of food. Al a carte restaurants Zen, Jade, Hunters Steak house and over at Memories the Mexican and Italian also amazing. As we were at the Hideaway part of the Royalton we had our own adults only restaurant. Dorado, with a beautiful ocean view. This was our favourite. Our favourite bar was the Hideaway beach bar. Edwin and the guys where on bar duty, They served us with delicious drinks and with smiles and laughter. Not to forget the guy Francisco who prepared the Hideaway beach area every morning with your towels on the loungers, a lovely man. Late evening Elvis joined the bar what a guy, funny happy chatty and makes the best Cosmoplitans we have had. A very good team helped us with our enjoyable holiday. We also had the pleasure to meet Eva, part of the Hideaway management team. A very professional lady, listens to what you have to say and deals with your questions and gives you the answers to make your holiday the best. Last but not least our “Diamond” Rafael. What a star. A true Gentleman, so glad we got the pleasure to meet you. Rafael was our “Butler” in the Hideaway he arranged bookings for restaurants for us which get booked up really quick but Rafael managed to get us in them all at whatever times and days suited us. Which we thank him for. Also checked we were having a good time. We did😎
