La Terraza de San Juan

We arrived early and the staff was very accommodating. They offered us an upgrade which was a nice surprise. The room was comfortable and well maintained. The thermostat was set at 64 but it felt a bit warm. We could not control it. There was no phone in the room so we had to use our own phones or take trip down to the lobby if we had any questions or problems. Aside from these small issues it was a very nice stay.

Overall very friendly experience. The desk clerk was very helpful, also with parking. The room was nice... no window which was a little odd but still kept it cool and less humid with the AC and easy to sleep.

I stayed here recently with my wife and two teenage daughters prior to a cruise that departed from San Juan. The hotel is really nothing special, but the location is ideal for touring Old San Juan. It is within easy walking distance of Castillo de San Felipe del Morro (“El Morro”), San Juan Cathedral, Puerto del San Juan (the San Juan Gate), Capilla del Cristo (Cristo Chapel), Castillo de San Cristobal (San Cristobal Fort), the Paseo de la Princesa, and shopping on Fortaleza Street. It is also only a few blocks from the Cruise Pier.

Even lent us their umbrella and when without during heavy rains. Staff extremely helpful.

Quaint and authentic to old San Juan. Located within walking distance to all of old San Juan. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast on the the rooftop was good with a great view. Would stay again if back in area.

The staff is fantastic. What a view from the roof top level with our breakfast was spectacular. The only quibble was the some of the TV channels didn't work properly and the TV remote needed new batteries. We loved the tile floor and that the hotel was in a period building with tons of charm and character with a modern twist.

Wonderful stay. One of the most comfortable beds ever! Water in the shower was cold, but I think it was because the water is solar heated. Great location and staff gave fantastic recommendations for places to eat!

Nice rooms with comfy bed and nice pillows for a change

Excellent hotel with a lot of character that shows off the culture of the country and people with modern amenities and old world feel. Phenomenal staff that is very aware of guests needs and willing to help in any way possible. Beautiful roof top terrace with wonderful views of old San Juan

Room was really nice especially the shower and the roof top bar and pool is beautiful

The hotel was nice, room was well preserved with beaitiful 200 yr old wood and character. The pool was small, the size of a large hot tub, the city easy to walk around. That being said, the hotel was very hard to find and the tiny, one-way roads were impossible to drive on. It took us almost an hour, driving around in circles before getting there. We got there at 2am, and were told to park at this one lot that was only $12.50/day. We must have gotten the wrong one, because 30 hrs later, the parking lot charged us $86! Since the hotel clerk had pointed us in that direction, I asked for the hotel to reimburse part of it, but never heard anything back from the manager. I'm disappointed because we did have a pretty good time there, but after that experience it just left a horrible taste in my mouth.

I read great reviews about this hotel and enjoyed my stay. The building is secure, well maintained and very clean. We could walk to most places in Old San Juan. The hotel staff are accommodating, professional and very friendly. The breakfast buffet contained simple but fresh items. The only things lacking are a room telephone and cable television with more features for English speakers. I would stay at La Terazza again.

We couldn't have asked for a better hotel. We arrived late on at night in February, out of cold New England. A short cab ride to the hotel, we were greeted with cold brews and a smile! During check-in, we were given an overview of things to do, places to eat, etc. They even booked an excursion for us to go to the rainforest! The rooms were comfortable, nice rooftop bar, everything was great. Just a tip, if the water doesn't get hot right away, let it run for a few minutes! We will definitely be back! Loved Old San Juan and Puerto Rico, next time we will be staying longer than a few nights!

We LOVED this hotel! Luckily, we didn't get a car until we were done with Old San Juan as it was a nightmare to be going anywhere but on foot! Our room was awesome& reminded us of Barcelona, Seville or Italy! Staff was so nice & they had a great new years celebration on their rooftop. Pool was small, but everything was perfect, including the complimentary breakfast. Highly recommend!

The staff at La Terraza are caring and charming. They were very helpful and polite. We had an amazing experience and were sad to leave. The only downfall is the pool. It is not kids friendly... It is an Infiniti pool at the edge of the building and even though it has an incredible pool it has a feeling of being about to fall off the building.
