very romantic hotel within Old San Juan; for people who look for exceptionell locations; tastefully furnished rooms; nice patio for relaxed breakfasts under a beautiful Nispero tree; terrace on the roof with a small pool and whirlpool overlooking the bay; remarkable plants overall; nice welcoming cheese and wine parties; convenient location in walking distance to all restaurants, shops, harbor side and cultural treasures; parking available across the street
Very nice hotel! Love the character. Nice wine and cheese bar for guest. Rooftop pool and hot tub.
Clean. Well kept. The staff are friendly and very helpful. In the centre of old San Juan We have stayed there before and will again.
We did the fall package. It was great beautiful room with view roof top was very relaxing with awesome views. It included breakfast every morning, beach passes daily to Isde Verde that included towels umbrella chairs, lockers with shower there was also a casino at the beach site. Daily there was a wine and cheese mixer for two hours. Coffee, water and fruit were available all day. In walking distance of several historic monuments, church etc. The night life is awesome we enjoyed a different place everynight. It was also walking distance to ferry to visit other areas for .50 per person. The ferry area has restaurants shops and flea market items also clubs.
El Convento is elegant, yet relaxed. All the employees are kind and courteous. There is history in every hallway. First floor has the restaurant and public bathrooms (clean). Second floor has a bar and do yourself LAUNDRY! Third floor has the library/computer room (Free unlimited coffee and water bottles). Fourth Floor has the pool and hot tub. The rooms are clean, and non smoking. If you are a smoker you get the chairs outside. There are ashtrays lining the hallways (the hallways are open air so you don't smell it) The hotel is in the middle of town, so no beach, BUT it has sister hotels that you can go to and when you arrive (example: Vanderbilt) they treat you as if you are staying at theirs!
Our room had no view but was very comfortable. Service was great. Restaurant were good but very expensive but plenty close by that was reasonable.
Best hotel I have ever stayed in! Service was awesome Location good!
beautiful clean romantic the perfect place fir couples totally recomended
You cannot imagine how wonderful this hotel is. This nun's convent was transformed into a serene oasis filled with a gorgeous landscape. The pool and jacuzzi are charming and very peaceful and the wonderful staff are unbelievably friendly and happy to make your stay extremely comfortable. The rooms are quaint and very clean and cozy, housekeeping is kind enough to turn your bed down daily a real treat. Every detail of El Convento is unique from the gorgeous decor to the amazing courtyard where a delicious continental breakfast is served and don't forget too wine and cheese at sunset such a special touch. Once in your lifetime you must visit El Convento truly a hidden gem.
We travel a lot and stay many boutique hotels around the world, but El Convent was one of the best- of course the historic background and building its self, but mostly, hotel staff made our stay so incredible and memorable. They were all very kind, hospitable and such high standard of professionalism. Everyone was amazing, but a few people of course stood out: Mark Anthony- loved his kindness and hospitality; Tony, Benjamin- their friendly manner and attentive service at the patio restaurant made our dining experience so pleasurable- we didn't get his name but our first day during lunch time we had amazing drinks from the bar, so the bartender was excellent! Isha and Marcos from front desk was always super helpful and kind Our room was cozy and comfortable- I can see people say it's small, but just enjoy the atmosphere! Tables and chairs in cloister was so relaxing during the day when you just want to read or drink coffee or tea; 6PM wine and cheese reception was incredible. We love wine and they have pretty good wine selections. Coffee and tea, fruits are available for everyone all day long- so wonderful! Pool is very tiny, but it didn't bother us at all. If you would like to go to beach/pool you can get a pass from the hotel and venture out to Condado (15 min away from El Convento by taxi) and you can enjoy the beach and (larger) pool all day. Overall, our stay was excellent and we feel that the big part is amazing hotel staff!
Hotel was charming and offer generous amenities, ranging from unlimited coffee, tea, and fruits throughout the day to an hour of free wine and cheese daily. Staff was excellent, courtesy, accommodating and wonderful. Within walking distance to the two forts, streets are live with activities and festive. We rented a car to visit the rainforest and caves.
The hotel is right in the center of tons of tourist attractions. We easily walked to the cathedral, the forts, and Casa Blanca. Lots of places to eat nearby.
Perfect location within walking distance of almost everything we were interested in seeing and doing. Planning another stay next year and taking the kids with us!
The staff, history, and location make this a wonderful place to stay.
The hotel was beautiful and the service was great. The only inconvenience was that the swimming pool is very small.
During previous visits to PR, we managed to spend 80 of our time in Old San Juan. This visit we decided, why not just stay there. El Convento is a very charming hotel with a wonderful staff. The room was clean with top notch toiletries. You mist visit the Taps Bar, the Salmkn was superb. It is centrally located which is perfect for visiting El Moro, shopping, and resaurants. The only downside was the size of the pool...it was very small but perfect for cooling off and it was never crowded.
Excellent, Overall experience great, value for money great, room cleanliness great and room comfort great.
The architecture of the hotel just blew my mind. Its so beautiful. The place in general has a comforting vibe. The pool and jacuzzi were so relaxing after a day of walking around and exploring. My boyfriend and I found everything in Old San Juan easily. We even visited some local spots.
The hotel was more than what we have expected. It has many characters which we liked. It located in the heart of El San Juan. The hotel is fully renovated but yet kept the old characteristic.
