We upgraded our room to get a balcony awith beach view. We enjoyed our stay
This hotel was very clean and convenient with a restaurant down stairs. It is right on the beach you can literally hear the waves in your hotel room. The only down fall was the tv didn't work in the room with the balcony but overall the hotel was nice and affordable. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family.
Will repeat. So close to the beach. Very clesn.
This hotel was the perfect choice for my budget and my fiancee to come visit and him to have a glance at PR for the 1st time on a budget of 4 days during Labor Day weekend. The only downside is the locaton is inside a gated residential area and there is only street parking available. I had no problem finding spots but the local residents also use the access to the beach so it gets busy on weekends. Highly recommend it if you just simple but comfortable with access to the beach at your doorstep. Close walking distance access to main rest/eating, shopping in Condado (Ashford Avenue) and 10-15 minutes from Isla Verde and Airport. Will go back again!
I've been staying here for 15 years and this time with the remodel in place the place looks great.
I stayed for second time with my wife and still having the same thoughts about this hotel. This is and will be my hotel for my next family getaway.
Set in a neighborhood, this is a run down, guest house. It is not close to anything, going anywhere started with a $40.00 round trip cab ride. The beach was small and not clean, filled with seaweed and trash. The rooms were dirty, there was no hot water (they said it was solar heated, did not have a hot shower for 4 days). The toilets did not flush well, we were asked to put our toilet in the trash rather than in the toilet. Though the staff was pleasant, they were very slow. The food was ok, but you could not charge anything to the room and the restaurant and bar area were dirty. No internet unless you were in one spot in the lobby. They could not print boarding passes. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, I spent twice what I should have for this dirty, run down guest house. Extremely disappointing
OMG This is the worst hotel ever. If you plan to stay at a relax hotel I do not recommend this one. 1: the room is so small, no garbage can that you can throw your trash away. Only one small trash can in the bathroom that you throw the toilet paper away since you can't flush down the toilet. NO HOT WATER so prepare to take a cold shower if you plan to stay there. 2: The beach is dirty, the picture you look online is deceiving It look nothing like it. 3: They do not serve breakfast plus no vending machine either. So make sure you buy your own bottle of water to your room. 4: The hotel is a little far from all the restaurant and do not walk out at night. I would not recommend this hotel.
It was good...simple. Obvisouly its not a 5 star hotel...but its good enough to get some Sleep and rest. The location is perfect cause you're in front of the beach. But overall its cool.
When I asked the clerk if there were WIFI she said yes - but then went to room and it was not available. Went back to clerk who said WIFI was only in the lobby area. There was no hot water for the shower. The sign said they use solar power to "Save the Earth" - but had to run the water for 20 minutes and it never got warm. We were there on a Saturday night and the room was in the back but still the noise from the bar was overwhelming.,
Best part...located on the beach....everything else sub-standard..Clean but need renovation, restaurant & bar terrible...s/b rated 2-star.
For the money stay at Isle Verde, More quality and better neighborhood. Would not stay here again. Which is a shame, the beach is great and they have a great staff. The maintenance seems non-existent. Great location, cant get any closer to the beach. Great staff, well staffed, friendly and helpful Goes downhill very fast from there, Food is good but over priced Rooms are very clean and larger than normal, but worn out. The beds creak, the dressers are worn but functional, the closet doors seemed ready to fall off. The door locks were missing or insufficient and long overdue for replacement. Wall and ceiling paints were stained. Air conditioner either quit or was up to the task.
I wanted a second honeymoon and this hotel looked perfect at the begging. When we arrived our reservation was lost, they gave us a room with no cable and a bathroom half finished. In the middle of the night the water was cut and the excuses the front desk gave were not logic. Few staff for a full hotel capacity. We had our breakfast somewhere else because no waiter arrived, but something went right at the end, we received a call from the reception remaining us the check out hour was at 11am. It is a shame because they have a great location, we spend the rest of the weekend in another hotel, same rate but we a superior service.
beautiful view, close to water, siimple islander style furnishiiings, friendly staff, food great there but pricey. A few problems--> The breakfast was included, but one morning the restaurant was closed and despite wiating for 1/2 hr. nobody came, so by a few minutes after 9:00 we left to get some food elsewhere. No effort was made to reimburse us the $10 we spent for our breakfast! All the other breakfasts were excellent when the hotel restaurant was open! The very friendly staff need to be given more training because they very often gave different answers to the same questions. There is an issue with the hot water in the rooms-- The customer needs to be instructed how to make the hot water get to the shower. It's solar heated hotwater system. Low water pressure for shower, but not the sink
Great location, can't beat the view of the Ocean, great food from their in house restaurant, highly recommend!
Located in a gated community on the beach. The lobby and bar area are cool. The rooms are run down, have leaky toilets and a whole lot of mosquitos. The staff is very friendly and helpful though.
Location was right on the beach. Great! Sunday the locals all arrive and the wait staff seems to ignore the hotel guests in favor of 'visiting' with their friends on the beach. The price of drinks seemed to depend on the person serving them. Prepare to be gouged. The food in the restaurant was excellent, but be prepared to wait a long time for service.
The staff was courteous and friendly. There was no water for showers during our entire visit. The kitchen sink did not get hot water until day two. Water leaked across the floor from the kitchen sink unless the sink was turned off.
nice rooms, good food although a little pricey, nice beach, a little out of the way. The hotel was selected based on its map location showing as being close to the Old Town. However it was located a significant distance from that, a little disappointing.
Look, Hosteria del Mar is not the Ritz Carlton. You may have to endure a low-pressure, cold shower or two (the hot water is provided by solar), the linens are not Egyptian Cotton, and you won't find a mint on your pillow when you return from the beach. The location, however, is amazing. Hosteria del Mar is directly on the beach in the neighborhood of Ocean Park - about half way between the more tourist-packed areas of Isla Verde and Condado. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and everyone's English was considerably better than my Spanish so it was not necessary to embarrass myself. The restaurant attached to the hotel is a bit pricey for dinner, but both food and service is excellent and well worth it. There is also a walk-up bar next-door for drinks on the beach. There are several more wallet-friendly local restaurants a short walk away (we recommend Kasalta on Calle McLeary for breakfast and lunch), as well as a grocery store, corner market and Walgreens nearby. We would definitely stay here again.
