There were beautiful views from all over the hotel property. The funicular down to the marina was cool but may get old when crowded and busy. I'm not crazy about the beach and sand so this resort was perfect for us although if you like the beach Palomino island is a short boat ride away (no charge). Nothing is included otherwise but we really enjoyed the resort and would come back.
After going to the front desk to complain about our bathroom, she got on the phone and said it would be taken care of! Looked the same after it was cleaned. Contacted corporate, nothing done!! I think motel 6 is cleaner!! Waldorf should be ashamed!
1-they refused to compensate for not having the rooms ready on time. (ready close to 6pm). 2-ants crawling on bed and in bathroom 3-reviewing the bill, the triple charged the valet ($220 overcharged) and triple charged for connecting room which I paid upfront ($375 overcharged).
Resort is beautifully done and it's in a wonderful location. We stayed total 5 night in Puerto Rico and out of that we stayed 2 nights in El Conquistador and the other 3 nights Isla Verde. Our stay at El C. is truly memorable and we wish we stayed all the 3 nights at El. Resort has beautiful grounds, their own private beach ( Palmonino islands), game rooms, pool. The tram ride between main hotel and the lower hotel is one to remember forever. One can easily stay all 5 nights in the resort itself as there is lot to do and see within resort.
This hotel was beautiful with gorgeous grounds. Very clean, excellent staff. Nice restaurants. Pools were beautiful as was the beach. Stores were not so great. One thing that I really did not like was that I couldn't get a shuttle from hotel to go to Old SAN Juan which was something I wanted to do. I was told that if they didn't get 6 or more people that they didn't have a shuttle going out, didn't like that because I felt a little trapped in the resort. Other thing I didn't like was that most places were closed by 10 which is early when you are on vacation. I thought resort fee was a little too much in addition to the price of trip.
Beach was great Food was limited there, Chops was good but overpriced. Martini Bar with Hidie was great. No place to eat healthy in the building. Too may screaming kids. It was our 3rd 1 week visit for winter break but will be the last unless I can bring my own temper peidic sleep set. What is the number one thing in a hotel room, SLEEP .. Location and setting was all good. Its a 4 mile walk from our room to the Island ferry. All and all we are done with the place
Hotel was large and had a lot to do. The room was also spacious, but a little outdated and the bathroom seemed to need a lot of work and didn't smell super clean when we arrived. It was a beautiful hotel over all, just wish it was more modern and a little cleaner.
This resort was absolutely beautiful. It was just what my husband and I needed!!! We took a ferry to the beach on Palomina Island that had all types of water activities: jet skis, scuba diving, a playground for the kids and the best drinks and food on the beach I have ever had!!!. This place was a paradise for us and a chance to unwind, relax and enjoy each other!!! It was surely a honeymoon and allowed us the time and tranquility we needed to rekindle our love. The grounds and gardens were beautiful, the restaurants and bars were fun, the rooms were decent and clean but the service was outstanding. We plan to go again for a week next year and will take our daughters back with us when they graduate from college in two years. If you can't tell from this feedback, we truly loved El Conquistador!!!! prese
First off when arriving everything seemed like it was going to be the amazing luxury resort I booked and paid for.The staff was very efficient and friendly and we got checked in with no issues. The lobby was very clean and well maintained, however, As soon as we opened the door into our King garden view room , we were hit in the face with the pungent smell of mold & mildew. As we walked in things went from bad to worse, the carpet was all torn and tattered, patched up holes in the wall, there were stains on just about everything in the room, the carpet, the curtains, the couch...but the final straw was all the stains and dirt wedged in the cracks on the head board and even stains on the "supposed" clean sheets. The bathroom was just as bad, looked like the tub was from 1960, disgusting dirt in the grout , on the handles, etc, I was just waiting for a roach to crawl out somewhere. I couldn't take it so i went back to the front desk to switch rooms. The second room was a BIT better and I stress the bit part, it did smell better and had far less stains covering the room, but it was still dirty and outdated, the biggest is we called maintenance because our fridge was not working at all, when he came up he proceeded to tell us it was fine, it wasn't a fridge but a cooler you needed to put ice in!!!! What! the last time I checked a cooler didn't plug in. This room was a far cry from a Waldorf Astoria Standard, The grounds and lobby were well kept as were the pools, also a nice loca
The staff was great. The rooms okay would def get a condo on the property next time. Mini fridge really didn't get cold. Food was def WAY over priced! But Palamino Island made it worth it! So many different activities for the whole family to enjoy!
Looking for a spot to relax and unwind for NYE, I booked this resort at a pretty penny, and was pretty satisfied. The first problem was getting there, since all the rental cars were extremely pricey and the hotel shuttle was 80$ round trip. Once we arrived, surprisingly they had only one person to check us in, which was weird since we had a full hotel shuttle. The room itself was very nice, with a great ocean view, and the pools and resort itself were fantastic. However, it was very much nickel and diming everywhere, expensive drinks, really pricey food, extra fee for the waterpark (although the 73$ a day resort fee that wasn't included in the price supposedly covered that...). Mostly everything worked well, with the minor imperfections being a toilet that leaked a little, spotty wifi, and sometimes rainy weather (ok, that wasn't their fault). They could have been more informative with the travel, such as telling us the airport shuttle didnt run past 5 (so our return to the airport was a 130$ taxi), but the island was fantastic, the pools were great, and it was relaxing.
I went to El Conquistador with high expectations being that it is one of the "best" hotels on the island. However, it is sad to say that the only thing that impressed me was the view from the balcony. I hoped for the best being that I am from Puerto Rico, but I was disappointed. The hotel is outdated in a bad way. I am all for rustic feels, but this hotel needs maintenance. The tiles on the ground are broken and faded. The bathrooms are decent, but have clearly been "patched up". The pool was very dirty. The food was way overpriced. The staff was helpful and friendly. As stated, the view is the most amazing thing offered. Sadly, I believe that it is much better to vacation at an all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic. They offer so much more, and the vibes are amazing. I am greatly dissatisfied, disappointed, and wouldn't recommend El Conquistador to anyone.
This resort has the best view of the ocean in Puerto Rico! It's situated on cliff 250ft overlooking the ocean and nearby islands. There are many dining options and amenities, I will be coming back!
Very very good resort ocean view rooms are precious with the views. The restaurants are unbelievable the ice cream parlor is worth the price the palomino island is out of this world with clean water. Also recommend going to eat outside the hotel to the restaurent. La estacion which is located to the right of the resort when you leave the resort every thing is fresh.
First time at the El Conquistador with my family and we loved it we enjoy everything they had to offer specially the Palomino island the staff is very carrying and very helpfully. I will highly recommend the El Conquistador for a very good vacation. Theyou have a lot to offer to make your vacation number 1. I love Puerto Rico and I surely love El Conquistador.
Very good experience! Nice pools, Palomino beach, etc.
The hotel room was very nice with a balcony with ocean view. This hotel is huge, there are lots of things do, different restaurants to enjoy. The arroz con pollo at Cafe Caribe is addictive and so is the praline/coffee combination ice cream. Please do visit Palomino island and the Water Park. The only weird thing is that in order to get a water tube for the tube rides you need to wait for someone to let go of theirs so you can take them, as if they didnt have enough tuubes for everyone and the park was even that full. But still very cool rides.
Had a blast was a great experience with my girlfriend food was great the view was perfect I will be back real soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The public transportation from the ferry terminal will not take you to this hotel. You can call the concierge two or three times before the get you a taxi. It's not a regular taxi it's a driver service. So a 10 minute ride costs $20. Once you arrive the cleaning and construction crews are very likely to greet you first with a nasty look as if you are interfering with their work. The hospitality staff are dismissive and distracted with whatever more important things they have to consider. The restaurant service is slow and the food isn't good. If all you want to do is get drunk by the pool, while it is being cleaned, then go for it. You can do a lot better for a lot less at other nearby places who will appreciate your business a great deal more than anyone at this place will.
Since I've been living out of PR for over two years now, I wanted to have a quick beach trip so I decided to stay in one of my favorite hotels of all times. The service and staff were excellent. However, there is place for improvement. In the past, I stayed in this hotel yearly for over 10 years and I had no complain at all. But it is time to refresh the rooms, specially the bathroom, and amenities fresh paint, new walls and linens. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and, of course, I love visiting Palomino Island for a beach day!!!!
