Beautiful room, great views, good staff. Friendly and clean resort.

My husband, baby, mother and I just came back from a lovely 9 day visit to Azul Beach. Overall, we had a fabulous time. There was an initial issue with the rooms we were given, which Was quickly fixed for us. For those who are wondering what kind of room to get, I suggest springing for the Junior or Family suite - they are in a newer section of the hotel and very very well appointed. I much preferred these to the Deluxe Suite. I have no clue as to why others have complained about the service, unless those commenting are completely unreasonable and rude. We found the staff at Azul Beach to be top notch - probably the best service we have ever had (compared to Hard Rock, Moon Palace, and several others). Mateo, Marco, Edwin, Shirley, Marimoto, Israel were all fabulous and incredibly attentive. Anything we needed or wanted was brought to is very quickly. We also thought the food was excellent. All baked goods are made on premise. The buffet breakfast was great and thorough and the restaurants had delicious offerings (although we didn't try the Japanese restaurant). The grounds were very well kept and the shows were entertaining. I did find the kid pools to be a little dirty though - but a quick debris sweep would clean that right up. The one area that I'd like to see improved is to have a designated smoking area. I detest cigarettes and was rather annoyed that people could smoke around me no matter where I went.k

The hospitality was incredible, very clean, met our every need

Enjoy it every time. 2nd time we have been back and we would go again.

Didn't get expected room type. Condescending front desk employee exacerbated the situation. Upon arrival had to undergo a sales pitch for add-on services. Our room was pretty good size with a large bathroom that included a tub (with jets), a separate shower and a toilet with a door (and an extension telephone). When you use a sink or the shower, expect to get a pretty good rotten egg odor from the water. Ugh. Housekeeping services were inconsistent. Some days only daytime cleanup and some days only night time turn down service. The beach is nice but the water looks and feels dirty. Additionally, from time to time, there’s an unusual, unpleasant aroma. The area is supposed to be some kind of protected location. You can see large waves breaking out in the distance. You can walk out quite a distance before the water gets deep. It is a constant battle to keep seaweed off of the beach. Men with wheelbarrows, rakes and pitchforks go up and down the beach all day removing the seaweed. I didn’t see anyone working on Sunday which resulted in lots of accumulated seaweed. You can order the exact same item in the same restaurant two nights in a row and get an entirely different preparation and presentation. One dinner might be really good and the same thing the next night would be, say, not so good. One soup might have flavor and one, specifically the lobster bisque, was very disappointing with not even a hint of lobster. Several of the waiters were really good. Unfortunately it isn’t all waiters. One night at dinner one of us got 1 of 3 items that had been ordered. On a few occasions if, say, 3 of us ordered the same item only 2 portions would be served. We’d then reorder the third portion and, ultimately, get it. Dinner usually took about 2 hours. Not great with two infants. Between the front desk attitude of not caring and not helping, the inconsistent food and the inconsistent service both in our rooms and in the restaurants, this is not a place to which we’d ever consider returning or recommending.

This was our second stay at Azul Beach. We stayed at Deluxe room for 5 nights. Definitely smaller than a Suite which we stayed last year but they were sold out. Resort is extremely well manicured, safe and staff are very accommodating. We enjoyed nightly shows and daily beachside lunches were great. Would definitely return again...

1) Morning buffet is too small and tasteless compared with other resorts around at Riviera Maya. 2) Breakfast and lunch food is not very good, you need to keep asking for food until you find some with good taste. 3) Asking for things to waiters can be a challenge. Five minutes wait for a paper napkin, ten minutes wait for a bottle of water. Waiters are more interested fixing empty tables than on people on tables. 4) Fridge at room only has some cokes and water. They don't have anything else at the entire hotel, no peanuts, no chips, no chocolate bars, no nothing like that... with kids, that could be a challenge. 5) No air conditioning in any public area (frontdesk, concierge, etc) and very limited in restaurants. The rest I don't mention is very, very good. Attention to kids, rooms, pools, front desk, concierge, beach, etc).

This hotel easily would have received 5 stars if they hadn't guaranteed my reservation from [...]for one category of room (with associated higher cost), and then upon check-in told us that category of room was completely booked throughout our stay and gave us the cheapest category of room. I even had [...]call several weeks ahead of our trip to make sure all was in order with our reservation. Completely unacceptable way of doing business!! If you plan to stay here, plan on paying for something you do not receive. The beach, staff, food, kids' services are otherwise great.

The Azul claimed they had water damage to some rooms and made us switch resorts. They lied and said that they would send us to a better resort but I had done my research and knew they were trying to send us to a lesser resort. we insisted that they send us to the ElDorado Miroma and after wearing them down, they agreed. Loved the resort but could have been a disaster.
