This is our first visit to Prague and because of it's ideal location we went for Merkur hotel. It turned out to be a great decision as it's close to metrostation Florenc so you can reach all parts of Prague easy. Around the hotel has a lot of restaurants, shops and shopping mall. The ambiance of the hotel is welcoming, our room is tidy and clean. The staff is super friendly and will go out of their way to help you with any question you have. This hotel is also recommend for families with children. We sleep with our daughter in a nice spacous room. Gong to Prague for the first time, go to Hotel Merkur!
The hotel itself may need a renovation, but both location and staff are excellent. Adéla was very helpful with a great smile, even in the early morning. The hotel is a short walk from the historical center.
I got Room 001 on the ground floor and it was very noisy in the evening because of a group of kids staying there (not the hotel's fault - fair enough) and then noisy again around 7.30 AM because of the maids loudly discussing something - which hoover sucks better, I guess. The buffet breakfast was a pleasant surprise. It was very rich and varied for a 3-star hotel with at least five kinds of salami/sausage and five kinds of cheese - not those sliced ones that taste like plastic which you normally get for breakfast in hotels, but a proper cheese tray with chunks of cheese that you cut yourself. The hotel is located 6-7 min walk from Florenc Bus Station, which is very convenient for transfers to/from the airport (30 mins) or travel to other European destinations served by Regio Jet, EuroLines and other numerous bus companies.
Since we enter the hotel we felt very welcome with the kindness and hospitality of the recepcionist! Once we got to the bedroom, got a very nice clean and comfortable room. Excellent bed, room size great for three persons Great begining!
The hotel is nicely located near the city centre...in fact just a stone's throw away. The staff are courteous and extremely warm. The check in experience was hassle free. The hotel has a great neighbourhood and it is accessible through metro. The room was nice and tidy. All in all I highly recommend this hotel.
I stayed in this hotel with another 5 couples for 4 night. Each of us were most satisfied with the price, cleanliness and the great daily breakfasts. But we were most impressed with the service from its staff, especially Marcel, the front desk officer. He is a gentleman with lot of patience. He speaks excellent English and recommended things or explained directions to us with great details and patience. He also went out of his way to ensure our needs were met even when it was late at night or ensure the restaurant provided us with our full breakfast before it opened officially.
The location of the hotel is very good. Very close to the railway station. The local transport too is available within walking distance. The old town (sight seeing) and bars/restaurants are 15/20 mins walk away. The staff is extremely courteous, specific mention regarding Natalia who was at the reception when we checked in. She helped us very quickly with our transfers at the last moment. The rooms and the bathrooms are extremely spacious and clean too.
The Hotel Merkur is a twenty minute walk from the Powder Tower. I would rather be on the edge of all the busy centre so this hotel is perfect. The hotel was perfect for us. We had a couple of hiccups, one being a noisy lot of young students, which the hotel addressed very quickly and professionally. The focus of the staff is to make sure that the customers are happy here and they do it with a big smile. Nothing was too much trouble. The reception staff are lovely and I couldn't single one out because they were all lovely! People on here have mentioned the breakfast, and it is all true. A good and varied selection. Something for everyone although the toaster could do with being a bit faster! Again, the waiting staff were lovely. I would certainly return here no problem.
Me and my wife stayed only 2 nights in this beautiful hotel, very comfortable and so close to the city center. Abundant breakfast with coffee tea cappuccino and many types of cakes, jams and cereals (obviously also eggs, meat, ham etc.)I hope to visit again this incredible city and to stay again in this hotel!
