This hotel has the perfect location. It is still within the village and also the first on the beach. If you want location, this is it. The restaurants and the bar are right on the beach, the room are very comfortable, the food is great and the service even better. O lot of people might not have heard of Porto Santo. It is 40 miles from Madeira, it is very small and the big difference is that is has a big, wide, amazing beach as good as you will find in the Caribbean. If you decided to try a visit for a few days, this is the hotel to stay. Enjoy.
This hotel has all you need for a holiday : clean rooms, balcony, restaurants, etc ... but where it really shines is it's location : it's literary right at the beach! The breakfast area is one step away from the sandy beach with an amazing view, and it has a beach bar/restaurant. It's also just a few minutes walk away from the town centre, where you'll find a grocery store. The internet is a bit slow, but so is life on Porto Santo, I didn't mind at all ;-)
We stayed one night as part of a package with Porto Santo Ferry line. Over one day from Funchal ( ferry leaves on the dot at 0800 and returns daily on the dot at 1800. Some forgot that, we observed !!) The hotel is spotless and the staff a delight. There is a beachside bar where we had drinks and also the breakfast which was excellent. As a hotel ? Functional. Somewhat dated though immaculate - kinda 1980s/Abba !! Bedroom immaculate. Reminded us a bit like a Premier Inn. Nothing wrong with that. Use them often in UK. Would stay again for a short stay for the position and great staff.
Returned for a second visit, mainly because of the excellent location right on the beach. I rang the day before our arrival to ask for a room overlooking the east side of the hotel, spoke to a very pleasant receptionist who said they would try to help us with our request. On arrival we were given a poolside room on the ground floor which was much better than the room we had last year, having been refurbished recently. The facilities of the hotel are great, the breakfast buffet is great, catering for most nationalities, the pool and beachside bar made for a very pleasant stay.
When you arrive at this hotel it certainly has the WOW factor - beach location- golden sand, friendly reception staff, beautiful reception area, good restaurants and a great pool area. However the rooms let it down as they are very basic and our bathroom needed updating. Our room had a view of the car park. I believe we should have paid less for this room versus those with a view and would recommend the hotel should introduce a grading system for the rooms linked to price. Overall the staff were excellent in particular the gentleman who looks after the pool - it is meticulously clean and organised. One of the ladies at reception helped me with a hire car purchase which I really appreciated. I would love to return but would request a much better room.
Our stay was nothing short of merit. The only disappointing thing was the gym is only available certain hours of the day and the rest of the facilities you must pay for. The pool area is where we spent most of our time and the service is good. There is a full time life guard for the kids and drinks and cocktails are served all day.
One step and you are at the sandy beach! This hotel was built around a historic tower and that is where the name is from. Very helpful staff. The rooms have balcony and are functional. Unfortunately the internet is only working in the public area and not on the room. There is also no LAN. The breakfast buffet is rich and nice and you eat with the view to the Atlantic Ocean at the sandy beach.
It´s a nice hotel, well situated, but not 4 stars. Breakfast is good, with nice possibility to sit outside, it´s a good fun to watch the birds picking up the rests. Hotel rooms are good. Staff at the reception are not well trained, one of them is for my taste a little rude! Staff in the restaurant look tired and it seems there is a lack of staff. wi-fi is not really working... I will go there again, only because of the location and the breakfast. I hope they start to train the staff.
My partner and I booked a double room here in June. The price was OK, but there were a few shortcomings. First, we found out the hard way that what they mean on the website by "Internet access in the entire hotel" is that you have free access in the lobby, and the balcony if you are lucky. The rooms themselves have no access - and we called reception to check whether other rooms are more fortunate, or if we can buy this service. Short answer - No. Secondly, when we came back from our first day out, when we had left the AC on, we were greeted by the mother of sewer smells in our room. The bathroom smelled like that too - so we presume somehow the smell came from there, even though when we left we closed the bathroom door, and there was no such problem. Lastly, the beach view restaurant was quite bad. We had the octopus and the special bollo do caco, but were rather disappointed. The octopus tasted like it came from a can/jar you can buy in a supermarket, and the fries that came with the bollo were not well done. We had octopus 2 other times in Madeira / Porto Santo and it never tasted that bad. There are upsides too. The view and facilities for example ( e.g. swimming pool, jacuzzi, etc.) but something leads me to believe other hotels in Porto Santo have that too... 2/5 stars
Friendly and comfortable. No frills, but good varied food, great service and very convenient being close to town and on beach. Many different nationalities with helpful friendly staff who seemed to speak all languages! Only downside is lack of hotel grounds.
