I booked this resort on the recommendation of a good friend., for our 37th wedding anniversary.(although he goes out of school holidays and takes a beachfront terrace). We booked jan 25-28, not thinking there would be soooo much traffic getting out of sydney. anyhow, ended up coming home a night early and forfeiting what we'd paid. booked through agoda - with a discount, still cost $607 for 3 nights . Our room had no view, no balcony, felt completely boxed in. It was very hot weekend, air conditioner was in lounge room, but even when we left it on the whole day and closed blinds, cool still did not reach bedroom. we opened the window, but because there were no flyscreens, got eaten alive by mozzies !! The kitchenette had the barest things, not even a chopping board, or toaster or decent knife to cut. I was able to go to reception and borrow a toaster. The bathroom supplies and tea and coffee supplies are very low quality. All in all, a very uncomfortable stay. The unit they stuck us in was at the very back of the resort, in an old block, tacked on to the back of the car park ! No servicing of the room either. One saving aspect of the place is the lap pool and the saltwater hot tub and basic gym. Also, location wise it's not far from Tomaree Head and that's a great walk to do. The 'resort' certainly needs a huge uplift, especially the section they put us in.
This has been a favorite for many years before it became a Ramada property. From everything I have seen now, it is still perfect. Could not get a room but dined there on the roof garden twice and the experience was great. The location is fantastic. Aaahhhh.... paradise!!!
Great place we booked through oce@n road holidays ; it was a great deal , we all had a great time ,thanks Cherie from oce@n road ! Great location great company pools were great ; great new pub bar set up
A Friend of us booked this hotel for us to spend 4 days there. The hotel is in a very good location right at the beach. The staff is very nice and kind. The room we got was overlooking the beach, so the view was fantastic. There is a road infront of the hotel but was not disturbing at all! The structure of the room was a bit funny, it was like a long tunnel. First the bedroom so it was hard to het fresh air in there, then the bathroom and a small kitchen facility on the way to the living room which had the nice view. The room needs a facelift soon as this not really up to the stars this place has at the moment.
The hotel is in a fantastic position but unfortunately it has been left unkept. The rooms are very clean but maintenance wise they need work. I had to screw our bedroom window latch on myself. They also have no housekeeping for any stays under 8 days.
Nice place to stay if having a short visit. This hotel is like any other normal hotel nothing extravagant. Rooms were clean and staff was friendly. It is very near to the beach. Swimming pool was decent and we enjoyed it.
A very nice stay here. Very clean, beautiful view of the bay, both pools are beautiful and service at the reception was good. Bustro was a bit expensive but comparable with other restaurants close by. Cheaper to go to Nelson Bay for meals.I would love to return and spend more time here.
The best position opposite the beach at Shoal Bay. This resort has so much potential. Desperately in need of a facelift. Staff nice and the newly refurbished Country Club is awesome this is part of the resort.(Still work being concluded) . Great place to eat and have a drink with open roof top bar/bistro. Hopefully this beautiful property will get the upgrade it deserves. If daily rate is cheap its good for families, As for me I would not come back. There is no daily room service for short stays.
We arrived on a Tuesday and were greeted by very friendly, helpful staff. The room was amazing and close to the beach. The pools were awesome, especially the outdoor one. A really good vibe. The only negative point I have is about the cafe. It’s recently moved to another section of the resort and unfortunately links to a beer garden where people can smoke. I found this off-putting while trying to eat breakfast.
Unit 808 in the Barrington Towers (behind the Ramada Inn) better than the photos online; Rented it through Airbnb, Nicole was very helpful host and responded quickly to questions even while we were on-site. Perfect views of Shoal Bay! Sun from both sides. Breezes through the unit were refreshing even on warm days. Veranda wrap around, with glass for excellent views, and roomy enough for chairs and table. The unit is bright, very recently updated everything excellent except only a couple items to make it better: in-unit washer/dryer, range and stove upgrades and a vacuum to help keep it clean over several days. The elevators worked great and quick. Included car park space. Get two keys (cards used for parking entrance and to turn on electricity in the unit). The artwork was very nice. King bed and two side-by-side single beds, one a folding cot. Plenty of room in the lounge area. Tables nice. If you need the tv it is HD. Easy to the beach across the street; (close by to the pier to jump off, walk to the picturesque Zenith Beach (20 minutes walk or to Tomaree headlands and trail) restaurants very nearby are acceptable, we liked the pizza at Marco’s and the Shoal Bay Country Club was also good. If you want to shop go to Nelson Bay near the waterfront, 10 minutes drive). All in all a great place for a Holiday! So glad we went there!!
