This is a beautiful hotel in an idyllic spot right on the beach. While there I lost my passport. I was frantic, but co-owner Kylie told me to go on my way to barrier reef, she would take care of everything. True to her word, on my return, she got me an appointment at the embassy, booked flights to Sydney, rebooked Auckland flight and hotel reservations, basically saving the remainder of my vacation, and she seemed happy to be able to help. Can’t thank her enough.
We had a beautifully spacious room with a balcony overlooking the beach. We found the hotel, friendly and relaxing and all the staff really helpful and attentive. Great location for all the amenities and the food was of an excellent standard. We will definitely come back again if we are ever lucky enough to be in Port Douglas.
Wonderful location across from the beach. Well situated for walking into town. Arrived late evening due to flight delay and complimentary antipasta was provided in room. Staff were extremely helpful and I could not fault their service. Breakfast was lovely.
Second time here and we have enjoyed it as much as the first. Nice to see most of the staff are the same and as friendly as ever. This is just a relaxed hotel, clean and friendly. Nothing is too much bother for any of the staff. The views from the balcony are to die for and literally 30 seconds to 4 mile beach.
Initially, we hoped the high prices of this small hotel would equate to a superior quality/ service. Having experienced very poor accommodation in the East Coast of Australia (from Sydney upwards), we decided to call by the hotel and actually check out the rooms before booking. When we approached the reception, a dismissive receptionist informed us there were no rooms available, when I told her I had just spoken to my travel agent who confirmed availability of a suite, she sighed and told me and my wife that she could only accommodate us 3 out of the four nights required. Problematically, the night in middle of our stay would not be available but she did not see this as a problem and thought it acceptable that we simple find alternative accommodation elsewhere for our Saturday night, I asked her if she was sure there was nothing available and she sighed again and said no. After leaving the hotel, I asked our travel agent to double check the availably and they did, there was definitely one room available. However, at this stage we had decided against the property. Here are some notes on why: -the rooms are very narrow with small balconies -there is a road between the hotel and the beach, therefore all ground floor rooms are literally beside a public footpath and road -the balconies are an opaque shape towards the sea and there are many trees blocking a direct view -the hotel pool would best be described a plunge pool as best We found excellent alternative accommodation with exceptionally friendly staff very close by.
We stayed at the peninsula Port Douglas as part of our honeymoon and couldn’t have been more impressed with it. The hosts, Kylie and Gavin, couldn’t have been more attentive, helpful or friendlier and the rest of the staff clearly followed suit. The sea view room was large, with a balcony that overlooked 4 mile beach. The pool area was a great place to see out the hottest part of the day and the included breakfast was fantastic. The attached restaurant was also well worth a visit. Minor issue with slow WiFi, but how important is internet access in this stunning part of the world? We couldn’t recommend it more highly and hope to visit again in the future.
We can't say enough good things about Kylie and Gavin, the owners and hosts of this boutique hotel. We had a ground floor apartment and our only complaint was not being in the rooms enough to fully enjoy them! When I had trouble operating the complimentary dryer after hours, Gavin kindly showed me how to use it. Kylie made sure we had lots of food to take with us on the morning of our departure because we left before breakfast time. And they were always friendly and accommodating, full of information and advice when we needed it. We had dinner at the hotel - it was excellent, as was breakfast. And yes, the beach is gorgeous. The hotel is situated at the beginning of four miles of lovely sand if you like to walk or jog. Heavenly!
Great hotel with all amenities including pool, hot-tub, restaurant, bar and free laundry facilities on each floor. Wonderful modern bedrooms with private balcony overlooking either the pool or the beach. Very friendly owners and staff. Great location on the beach at the end of the Main Street. We loved our stay here.
This hotel has large comfortable rooms with mini kitchenetts and a living area and balcony. We were very very happy with our stay there. It is on the main street and on the beach at the same time. Just perfect. The breakfast is complete and the food at the restaurant on the first floor offers some very good food. I also want to congratulate them on the marvelous group of personel that they have working at all hours.
We stayed here for 3 days in October. We found the level of service went above and beyond expectations. Staff were friendly and room had everything we required. And of course proximity to beach and main street was fantastic. We will be back.
