Large Mexican resort. Located 20 minutes from Playa del Carmen. Has a great deal of amenities but most are for people who do not want to leave the resort. We did not get the all-inclusive package because most of our meals were going to be off site. We went to Chichen Itza, Xcaret, Cozumel and of course Playa del Carmen. The meals at the hotel were very limited. For room service, they did not have steak or grilled chicken. Only burritos and tacos. For breakfast, they do not offer a cheap a la carte menu. You must pay for the $50 buffet or you do not eat. In order to eat at one of the restaurants, you must have a reservation 24 hours in advance. I only ate 3 meals in 7 days at the hotel because of all of these difficulties. The resort is huge but the beach is only 100 meters long. From our room, it was about a 30 minute walk to the beach. There were 6 villas further from the beach than ours. So, this becomes an issue as we went to Mexico to hang out at the beach and it is kind of a pain to get there. The beach is not really much of a beach either. Very rocky and large waves. Also, none of the hot tubs had hot water in them. In the end, our expectations were high for a supposedly 5 star resort. I felt it was pretty and everyone was very nice but in the end they did not live up to the two or three things that we felt were the most important part of choosing such a high rated (and expensive) resort.

Beautiful hotel and the stall were amazing they helped me find great restaurants ( except the cave)but other then that i enjoyed everything

We liked the room, service, amenities and views. We disliked the price of all inclusive meals bracelet, $120/per person, per day was outrageous to us.

Muy bueno y excelente concepto personal muy bueno . Solo la comida del room service es mala pero los restaurantes muy buenos

Restaurant quality was lower than expected. Hot water didn't work for 1/2 of the stay. Check in was delayed due to maintenance. There was a dead bug on my wall. I shared all of this (except for the restaurant feedback) but nobody ever apologized or offered to make it up to us. The room we stayed in was decent and the shared part of the property is beautiful. Nice pools.

The customer service was terrible. When we tried to extend our stay by a night, the personnel at reception were entirely unhelpful and told me to use the internet to check reservations since they could not help me. When we finally made a reservation online for another night, reception staff would not confirm the reservation and insisted that we move rooms. The system of restaurant reservation is ridiculous requiring people to line up in reception between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to make a restaurant reservation. Also, people were making mass reservations for the entire week so we could not get in to any of the restaurants requiring reservations. The staff around the pool were unfriendly and unhelpful also. The property is well-maintained and the pools are lovely but I would not return because of the poor service and unfriendly attitude. Also, the main pool area is extremely loud with music playing all day so not good for someone who wants peace and relaxation on vacation.

Not realy kids friendly hotel, they don't have much for the kids besides a small kids club. We booked 3 bedroom suite for 3 adults and 3 toddlers with the kitchen for 2 weeks vacation and spent 2 days for requests to set up the kitchen (plates, pots, kettle, etc.). The rooms were clean but everyother day we had to call for maintenance to fix something (not working AC, water leaking in the toilet, no cold water at all, etc.), it wasn't enjoyable to spend time and energy on such things. We expected more from 5 stars luxury hotel.

Overall great experience and very friendly staff . Property is also very beautiful with great pools and Restraunts

Great Resort but with the worst most incompetent mgmt and front desk I have every come accross.

Extremely beautiful hotel and my room was great however check bedding because I found blood on my sheets.

Easy beach access. Only thing I didn't like is the pool closes at 8 pm. Thats a deal breaker for me

I had stayed at Azul Fives with All Inclusive in a one bedroom suite and stayed my last night as a reg deluxe room night stay .. without the all inclusive. You get treated completely different if the staff sees you in a grey wristlet. The phone in our room didn't work. They decided to come in checkout morning to fix the error. Check in for the last night was quick. Check out was rather quick as well. This isn't always the case bc we checked out earlier Sunday am and it took 30 minutes. The first night we checked with the all inclusive blue wristlet ... it took 3 hours for room service to arrive and that's only bc we called to ask what was taking so long. I asked questions from .. are you able to check in early to are they any rooms I can pay to upgrade to ... having room service pick up something at a restaurant on site ...getting a ride to our room.... there were soo many reasons to answering No.

This is a really great resort! Wonderful attentive kind staff.. great gourmet restaurants! Live entertainment.. beautiful beach and pools!!

My boyfriend and I had an amazing time here! We were upgraded to a suite free of charge, which had a full kitchen, and a swim up deck to our living room. It was really nice to go straight out of the room and into the pool! The only downside was there were several pools throughout the property and no real main pool, so it wasn't super social and there wasn't any waitstaff at the pool outside our room. It's great for privacy if that's what you're looking for and you can always call room service to bring drinks or food. Every single staff member I spoke with was extremely kind and helpful, A+ to customer service! All the food I had was good, nothing amazing, but nothing less than good either. They have a wonderful gin bar with delicious craft cocktails and a tequila bar with a large selection! There is easy beach access to a beautiful beach, and the hotel had live music and other events and entertainment while we were there. It was very enjoyable! And a cab into downtown Playa was about $15 USD.

Dear guest, thank you for sharing your review with us. We are very sorry that we did not meet your expectations regarding our culinary variety. We will be happy to review your feedback with our F&B team for possible improvements. As for the beach, we do offer shuttle service to move the guests from one point to the other, however, the furthest point from the beach being the entrance of the hotel, is around 10 minutes walking distance. We apologize if you had a different perception however we look forward to have another opportunity to welcome you again. Sensorial regards, Management team The Fives Beach Hotel & Residences

Thank you for once again, Our inventory was limited on those past days and I appologize if We provided a room for your extension so lowly, bringing your concerns on the music in our activity pool to our attention and We will take note of your recommendation. I sincerely apologize for not providing you the all-around, vacation that you were hoping for. I would like to think that there were positive experiences that went along with your recreational comments, but, I do, however, thank you once again for your feedback.
