This is our third stay at this hotel. Montecatini is interesting in itself with a slightly faded grandeur that rewards repeated wanderings in the town. A trip on the funicolare takes you up to the lovely Montecatini Alto with stunning views over the surrounding countryside. The hotel is run by the Simoncini family and they, with their staff, can't do enough to help. The rooms are clean and bright, the aircon is quiet and efficient and the free wi-fi WORKS. Good pool and a nice garden area. Food all good and the wine list seemed to me to be very reasonably priced. There was a very good complimentary fitness session during our stay, tailored to our ability, which helped to counteract the effects of all the food we'd been eating that week! Great location. Handy for trains to Florence, Lucca, Prato and Pistoia. About 10-15 minute walk to the main station. The hotel will obtain the train tickets for you the evening before, if you ask in good time.
All the staff were so nice. Gabriel, Paulo, Fabio, Clive & lots of others, that made our stay so pleasant. Our bedroom was very big. Small balcony, large King size bed with a flat screen television. In another smaller room we had sofa/ bed with another flat screen television. Internet connection is very strong & if you have Netflix Europe it can be accessed throughout the hotel & outside at the pool. Bathroom had a large open walk-in shower, with coloured lighting- lovely soft colours, and a huge shower head, and a hand-held shower. The room has fantastic controllable air-conditioning. The pool, and area around the pool was just lovely. No music. Lovely flowers and birds We had drinks at the pool every afternoon after we returned from our train travel Room towels were changed daily. For large Pool towels just ask at reception. Lots of lovely coffee & pastries at breakfast as well as eggs, toast, ham , cheese tomatoes. & scrambled egg,, The owner Dante, his wife, were present each day and speak English. Anything you want -Dante is there to offer help and advice. Train tickets are available for purchase the day before trevel which saves a queue, and even a lift can be arranged to the station. We visited Florence, Lucca, Pistoia and on our last day we even went to the sea- to Viareggio. All a short train journey, in air- conditioned trains, which are very reasonably priced. Montecatini is full of lovely restaurants & bars. The traditional passiggiata takes place around Piazza del Popolo every evening about 8.30pm.
Myself and my boyfriend stayed here for 4 nights whilst we were in Italy. From the moment we checked in the staff did everything they could to make us feel welcome and were extremely helpful. The room was basic but was just what we needed, and ours had a balcony too. The hotel was very clean, our towels were changed daily and the bed was made everyday. The pool area was lovely and peaceful with plenty of sun loungers and seats, there was also a jacuzzi which was relaxing! Breakfast was very nice and there was a fairly good selection. The hotel was a 15 minute walk to the main town which has plenty of shops and restaurants. The train station is also a 15-20 minute walk away and it takes about an hour by train to get to Florence. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a town within walking distance, a clean hotel, friendly staff and a lovely relaxing pool area! Don't hesitate to book!
As soon as we arrived we felt welcome . The management and staff could not have been more friendly and helpful throughout our 5 night stay. They even got us a great deal on a taxi when we left for the Coast. Our room was spotlessly clean and was maintained that way. It was comfortable and the view from our balcony was magnificent. An ideal spot for a quiet glass of wine. The public lounges are traditionally furnished and very impressive. There is a large pool area with plenty of sun loungers and a hot tub. The gardens provide nice shaded, cool areas to sit out of the sun. There is also private parking for guests. The dining room is again traditional with excellent table service at dinner and a fine buffet at breakfast. We were booked in for B&B ,but we're tempted to have dinner there on two occasions which we did not regret. A varied 5 course menu of good food served with style. We have no reservations in recommending this fine family run hotel.
Very good hotel! Great location, helpful staff! You feel like at home. Quiet and beautiful location near Terme. 10 min walk from the city center. Big parking in front of the hotel. Good breakfast. A little dated but nice and comfortable rooms. Everything perfect to my mind!
We looked for somewhere to "put our heads down for the night" which was perfectly adequate for us as we were out every day after (continental) breakfast. All the staff in this family run hotel were extremely helpful, prompt and accommodating to our requests. Typically hard beds (hubby liked) and pillows. Bathrooms fine, rooms large. No tea/coffee facilities in room if you were expecting them in Italy. Good location for travelling to Florence, Lucca, Pisa and vineyards. Taxis brilliant - they know who to book! Evening meals were varied but again, plentiful.
We enjoyed our 2 night stay at this hotel very much. Had a nice view from our balcony, walked to the funicular and to the town as well. A full breakfast is available with many choices. The staff is knowledgeable about the available mineral baths which are different and fun to try.
This was our fourth visit to this hotel, but are novices compared to guests who have been attending for over 30 years! Great welcome, helpful and attentive staff and management. Food and wine as enjoyable as ever. Situated at the top of the town, and easy walking distance to central square along tree lined avenues, and takes about 15 minutes. Ask advice from reception on train tickets, venue tickets and anything else and use the vast knowledge of the reception staff to make the best of your visit. Circa 50 minutes drive from Pisa airport and 4.7 euros in tolls on the Autostrada. Secure parking to read of the hotel. Trains from Montecatini Terme to Florence, Pisa, Lucia etc depart from Montecatini Terme Central.
Most welcoming team at the Torretta which is situated near the central park with a number of Spas in it as well as being close to the funicular railway up to the old town of Montecattini. A good base from which to visit Tuscany offering very friendly and helpful service. Rooms are a little-old fashioned but are clean and comfortable. Lunch and dinner are provided and could not be faulted. All management and staff could not do enough for us and made us feel very welcome at all times.
Lovely setting and gardens with a swimming pool in a convenient location, walking distance to the funicular and near the wonderful Spa. The staff are what made this hotel so special. When I was taken ill and spent a week in hospital, they were wonderful to my husband and even sent me some home cooked soup when I complained about the hospital food. The hotel is owned and run by a brother and sister, along with their children, and they couldn't have been more helpful and kind.
