We had a lovely welcome from the two ladies on reception and one of them even showed us to our room. The enclosed balconies give rooms a private sun lounge and we enjoyed sitting there with our books after our trip up the mountain on the very speedy and efficient cable car. However, choosing the menu of the mountains was a mistake - it turned out that several rather random dishes arrived together for the starter followed by an almost raw veal chop! The waitress was very helpful and offered to change the chop for something else - but it was a bit too late by then.

The setting really is stunning and we area aware that the style of hotel is more of a lodge, which is fine, we've stayed in chalet hotel when skiing and enjoyed them. We were really looking forward to our stay here but we badly let down by the food in the restaurant which was inedible and expensive and the attitude of the management and the clearly overworked and far too few staff. The rooms were very generous and a lovely balcony with fantastic views and we were very much looking forward to enjoying everything the the hotel had to offer. sadly disappointed with no way of getting any food at all between the hours of 4 until 8 when the restaurant opened apart from a bowl of 10 crisps with the drinks that we had after waiting near on 45 minutes to be served. We really wish we'd stayed in the village and driven up to the cable car for our wonderful walk. Management did not seem to care about our concerns with the meal.

Wow what a location. This Parador, looking like a typical alpine ski lodge in its appearance both inside and out. It is situated adjacent to the cable car that allows easy access to the glorious Aliva Circuit mountain top walk. The Picos de Europa range totally dominate the views in all directions. Loved the ambiance. décor, friendly staff and very comfortable spacious rooms. The dinner was somewhat chaotic with people arriving later getting served quicker and even finishing their meals before some of us had even had the starter. Our waitress was well aware of the situation and obviously suffering a minor nervous breakdown as a result. That said she still managed to retain a smile along with an apology. The food and wine were appreciated when at last they arrived. The buffet breakfast did not disappoint however, a wide choice of tasty hot and cold food was on offer with ample quantities of it available The Parador is best accessed through the lovely characterful town of Potes which offers retail and cultural therapy to those suffering withdrawal symptoms due to the tranquility that Fuente De supplies by the bucketful.

We loved our stay here - the room was large, clean and comfortable albeit slightly shabby or tired but with a pleasant large enclosed balcony with table and chairs, looking towards the mountains and the cable car. It had all the usual parador comforts. Plenty of walking opportunity - the hotel lends walking sticks to guests - and the cable car takes you up to more glorious mountain walks. The hotel had a very warm relaxed and friendly feel, with plenty of quiet spacious and comfortable lounges. The food in the restaurant was good quality but we thought relatively expensive, as was the breakfast. But there were plenty of eating choices on the road up to Fuente De and in charming Potes a 20 minute drive away down the valley. Pastoral, peaceful, beautiful. Plenty of free parking. We would definitely stay again.

Our room had a wonderful enclosed balcony with view of the mountains. Desk staff suggested a couple of very beautiful walks. Bed was a little too firm for our liking. Restaurant had limited menu options and failed to fully reflect local specialities. Better tourist information needed in rooms and at reception - this seems to be a problem at all of the Paradors we have visited this holiday.

This parador is located in the Picos de Europa, and thus, the views are spectacular. From the pastoral scenes with cattle to the beautiful mountains, it is awesome. Our hotel room and bath were large and very clean. The beds were okay. We had a large enclosed balcony that looked out over the cable car ascending to the mountain. The food and service in the dining room was variable. The cable car was a short walk and well worth the time. It was a very enjoyable experience.

Another wonderful stay at a Parador. This one is quite busy due to the location but plenty of space inside to read a book or lounge in the comfy seats. An outdoor space e to sunbathe would be much appreciated. Great location for an early cable car ride before the crowds. Dinner very quick and reasonable prices for a very large veal chop! We had a room rate only on our departure day and found it difficult to have tea and coffees before we left as the cafe/ bar does not open till 11am.We did manage to order a drink finally after much pleading but then the associate tried to make a cup of tea in an espresso cup .Quite a painful experience trying to explain how to make tea. Don't forget to close your windows at night or you will stay awake with the sound of the cow bells.

Expected to pay for Parador but also expected to receive VFM. Sorry NO. Expensive for poor food choice so ate at the hotel over the road (very good) Nothing special to recommend it and would prefer to have stayed in the local town with a choice of restaurants. That said a super location. - just stay at the other hotel!!

Excellent overall especially with a dog. Tremendous location. Very nice meal in the restaurant. No discount for air conditioning out-of-order. Even better with a pool (and there's plenty of space for one)

We spent 2 nights in this 3 star hotel. Beautiful setting right next to the cable car. Our twin room had a small terrace looking out to the mountains. Spotlessly clean. Continental breakfast had a fabulous selection of food. The waitresses brought tea and coffee to the table, very polite and friendly. It served food from the bar most of the day, which was lovely if a tad expensive. We didn't eat in the restaurant but it did look very nice and the menu had a nice selection, again a bit expensive. Parking on site for our motor bike. Would return here again.
