We returned to this resort having visited a couple of years ago and enjoyed with our 2 young boys. I'm normally not someone who repeats holidays, but it was such a family friendly resort and we were going with friends who had not been to Phuket before who also had kids. The pros This resort is laid out with families in mind. It is not 5 star by any means, but the set-up of the rooms with the pool makes for a stress free holiday. The happy baby studios are pool side and allow for families to be sitting by the pool and for kids to go in and out of pool and waterslide and into room without having to get up. We stayed in the 3rd block closest to the beach and also had the pool bar in front.- handy set up. The cons The staff are generally lovely, but we did have an incident where my son was massively sick and unfortunately being 6 years old this manifested onto the bed and floor. I cleaned up as much as I could and then asked for housekeepings assistance. The girl who came to the room was surly and angry that she had to clean up the mess. She apparently spoke no English but her face and body language told me all I needed to know! She was so rude she made me cry! Particularly since I was already upset as my son was vomiting like he was a main character in a horror story! I was by myself and it was stressful! To Sunwings credit after I did complain I received a nice apology from management. Aside from this incident, we did have a great time at this resort. It's an easy, cheap and clean resort with water slides for the kids. However I have to ask what has happened to Kamala beach???? The government in its effort to clean up the beaches has torn every restaurant and bar down and basically turned this beach into a mess! Rubbish everywhere! Apparently they are rebuilding and so here's hoping this area will be even better in a couple of years. For us it was a ghost town within the rubbish!

This is exactly hotel for first commers to Thailand - it's "safe", clean, huge with good service and many features for children. But it's every second hotel in Europe. You need to leave it's gates to be in Thailand. This is of course huge advantage for those comming to Thailand for the first time or for those a bit afraid of this exotic destination. For all the others I don't recommend it. Go to something more "thai"! Reception - great. Service - good. Breakfast - continental - enormous choice of everything (very rare in Thailand again). Restaurant - good, expensive. Rooms - numerous (it gets quite long journey to get to the beach), clean, nice. Pools - many (maybe too many :-)), clean, nice. Hotel property - right on the beach but still a little bit far when you forget smth in the room. Be aware of the beach as well...I've been to many places in Thailand except Phuket so I don't know how other Phuket beaches look like, but this one was dirty with a lot of plastic stuff in the water...quite shocking after arriving from Khao Lak.

This resort does have a few flaws, noisey air con and thumping can be heard when kids are running down the corridors, apart from that this place was fantastic. Service was exceptional, cocktails were on point. Really enjoyed my time here so thank you.

We are here now on our last day...for a place with children fantastic...wasn't overly noisy but we are here off peak...restaurant was nice but pity fino is not open for dinner as dinner on the beach is the best...nice restaurants nearby on the beach are fantastic. We moved rooms after two night to the family suite with two bathrooms...best for teenage boys. Have read other comments in the past on here the negative ones I didn't find any issue except twice water stopped but that was middle of the day...the pools are great...noisy in the middle with the slides but nice and quite pools on the outside perimeters...room was nice and open. We will bring the kids back

We had a wonderful time at Sunwing Kamala. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the pools were vast and plentiful and the service was lovely. Breakfast had a great range but if you dine at the restaurant, avoid the tempura prawns, in fact, most of the food is very average. The only meal I liked was the tom yum goong. The waffles were terrible. The kids club and entertainment were great. officially children under four can't be left with the staff although I've heard there is flexibility on this. Due to the set up of the room, we felt unsafe to leave our houdini in there but a mature three year old would probably be ok. My five year old was happy with the lovely staff. Lollo and Bernie were a big hit with the kids, as were the three waterslides. The hotel is well located with plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance, as well as a night market virtually across the road, twice a week. I thought the hotel was going to be huge and while it was big, it wasn't too impersonal. What would I change? We asked for a top floor quiet room and were placed in between the elevator and the stairwell on the third floor :( I understand we can't always get exactly what we want but I did ask a week or so in advance. Thankfully my request to be placed away from smokers was fulfilled although that may have been luck. I feel for guests who were forced to endure second hand smoke in Happy Baby suites without being moved. I think the hotel should make Happy Baby suites smoke free. I enjoyed four massages and one pedicure during my stay. My daughter enjoyed having her nails done and was given a complimentary hair braid. I had a fantastic pedicure from Chery (tip her for me if you get her as I had no extra money on me at the time :() All but one massage were lovely. I had one young giggly woman who annoyed me with her constant chatter but usually the sound of the waves (the massage hut is located in the hotel border but right on the beach) was so relaxing. Kamala Beach is nice. Many describe it as beautiful but I've been spoilt with amazing beach experiences in my life. The water was deliciously warm however and even though wet season, there were a few safe days. My husband was lucky to have a couple of good surfs there too, what a surprise! Board hire is expensive but a little bartering solves that problem. Which season should you go in? We went in low/wet season and had nine days in Phuket and two of them were rainy. On both days we still swam, it's so hot. Many restaurants were closed but in retrospect we should've ventured away from the tourist restaurants to some local spots because we found the food less impressive in Phuket than we have found in other less touristy parts of Thailand. The resort was quieter because of low season. For us, low season was great. For someone wanting more buzz, high season may be better. I probably wouldn't choose Sunwing if I didn't have kids but we do so I would go to Sunwing again. Top tips. Eight nights at Sunwing isn't enough! If you have the Scoopon voucher, be sure to book your cocktail making class in early as they didn't tell us when it was on so we missed out :(

Great place to come if have a young family of kids 8 years and younger. Lots of small children around. Noticed not many Australian families staying here. Walking distance to shops and Fantasy which is a bonus. Great entertainment at night for small children while parents have dinner. Water slides keep children happy by the pool. Beach close by too. Food at hotel good and lots of fantastic little Thai restaurants along the beach. Rooms on ground floor near the pool i think would be quieter. We had a room on 1st floor and it was really noisy, everything echoed in hallways and stairwells from people walking up and down, talking loudly, kids crying and cleaners going through early so don't expect your kids to get a sleep in or get them down early at night if on one side f these floors. Rooms clean and have microwaves.

Sunwing was a very good hotel. We travelled with our family and kids were high they had fun very much. But some demerits were there. The ac in our room use to leak. We stayed in pool room and saw some insects in pool that was miserable else the food, room and staffs were good. It's a nice place to stay but if you want something really very very high search other hotels.

Very Disappointed! We booked a ' Happy Baby Studio' for 10 nights the room was basic and somewhat outdated upon opening the balcony door we were greeting with a group of 4 chain smoking Russians as neighbours, we hoped it might have been a one of but it was relentless. Having booked in an area designated for Babies we imagined that smoking might have been restricted to the designated smoking areas throughout the resort. We approached the reception and were told that they would speak to them in relation to the issue. As it turns out they didn't have any Babies so why they were placed in a 'Happy Baby Studio' is still a mystery, anyhow they basically refused to stop and refused to relocate. Now we not only had the Chain Smokers, but they now were yelling at us in Russian when we walked past, perfect start to a holiday! We decided to take the offer to relocate as we really had no other choice, I realise that this is Thailand and smoking is still prevalent however, Come on SUNWING maybe restricting it in 'Happy Baby' Studios isn't asking too much is it???? I am sure that people with actual 'Babies' wouldn't object. The food was mediocre and after talking with a few other guest who were also in agreement and a few stomach upsets were also mentioned. The massage was very below average, the staff talking and laughing amongst each other during the massages and the uninterested attitude was also very disappointing. The Kids Club and Activities were great, the staff at Mini Land were absolutely fantastic and is the only saving grace about this resort. To top it all of on the flight home both the kids had a very high fever and our welcome home present is Hand, Foot and Mouth disease that was picked up at the resort as they didn't go outside! I expect the usual automated reply of 'We are so glad you loved the Kids Club and activities blah, blah, blah and hope we can welcome you back soon blah, blah, blah' Do yourself a favour and find alternate accommodation, you won't regret it!

We have just returned from a 10 night stay at Sunwing... the resort is absolutely immaculate. From the spacious rooms, beautiful gardens and absolutely wonderful staff... the resort is so child friendly andre the staff are so wonderful with children. My 7 year old son was so pampered woken he had a massage.... Reena at reception was lovely and the staff in the dining room were super friendly and attentive. Thank you to everyone who made our long awaited family holiday so enjoyable and memorable... I've left a little piece of my heart in Thailand....

This resort is fantastic! We stayed for 10 nights (a scoopon deal) in a family suite with our 4 yr & 7 MTH old. The room was huge, with a separate bedroom for the kids, large sitting area and well appointed bathroom. The view from our large balcony looked out over the beautiful pools towards the beach, gorgeous! So much thought had gone into making it a hassle free family holiday. From the kids menu (free with paying adult), the amazing pools and waterslides, great kids club, playground, extra kids activities in the pool, the great evening shows, kids mocktails, games at the pool bar, floats and toys in the pool, Mani & pedis & plaited hair from the massage girls, TV and coloring area at breakfast, visits from 'lollo & bernie' and even little stools in the bathroom so kids can reach the taps! They have thought of everything! All of the staff were so lovely. Especially Som greeting us at breakfast and Webster looking after our table (little Zach misses you both!) Everything was always clean. I loved all the separate recycling bins, smoking areas away from main areas, good nonslip entry to all the pools. The resort is close to town, only a short walk across the sand to the main road. Some fantastic restaurants nearby and some great markets too. One of the things I really loved was that the resort doesn't try to overcharge you. Taxi, massage, drinks, food was all the same price as out on the main road. And all was of a great quality too! We easily could have stayed longer, it was a fantastic holiday. I highly recommend sunwing!!
