This would have to be the most family friendly placed we've ever stayed! Our kids loved the pools and slides and stayed in for hours. The kids club is modern and clean with a different free craft activity each day which we enjoyed doing with the kids. Our 4 yo went to one of the paid supervised activities (superheroes) and had a great time. The staff entertained kids with water play in the pool, visits from Lollo and Bernie and our kids loved the Magician show. We were amazed that they even had step stools in all bathrooms so kids can reach the basin! That's attention to detail! The restaurant has lots of kids friendly menu choices. Breakfast buffet good and food in general good. One suggestion would be that they offer a few specials on the menu as I was keen to try something else later in week. Rooms very spacious and clean. Fabulous location right on the beach with easy stroll to town and local shops. About 20mins from Patong with taxis or tuk tuks right out the front. Hotel has two massage places within the grounds with one hour massages for 300 baht...amazing! Staff were very friendly and helpful. We really hope to return here again sometime as it was one of the best holidays we've had.
We stayed at the Sunwing in April 2017 for 11 nights with our 2 kids aged 12 and 14 and we did not want to leave. We had a studio room which was spacious and clean with a lovely bathroom and comfortable enough for the 4 of us. The buffet breakfast was fantastic and the staff are the friendliest people in the world. The pools are awesome and we loved the one with the pool bar. We have never felt so at home in a resort . A big thank you to all the staff who work so hard to make sure we have a great holiday we really appreciate it . We don't usually stay at the same resort twice but we are definitely coming back to the Sunwing next year . Antonia and Andrew
Our family of 5 spent 5 nights at this resort back in October 2016. Our room was spacious, we got a family room, and it overlooked the pool and the beach. We got our room with the breakfast buffet. Positive things about this hotel: Many different sized pools and slides for the children, if adults eat (lunch/dinner) the kids eat free, beach access, laundry facility, kids club and activities, and massages by the pool. Negatives: mosquitoes at the outside massage by the pool so I could never fully enjoy it, some bugs in the swimming pool, slow elevator, limited items on the menu for lunch and dinner, and TV reception was bad. There's an outdoor market, foods and shopping, on Friday and Monday nights and we really enjoyed that. Definitely bargain! We also took taxis to the main shopping area and down to the Phuket beach several times to enjoy parasailing and shopping. Taxi fee for a roundtrip was on the expensive side. We would return here with our children again as it was one of the most relaxing vacation we've had in a long time. The beach was not as clean as I'd thought and the waves were pretty rough. I would not recommend taking little children into the waves here.
I said in this hotel in April 2017. It is at list 40 minutes away from Phuket Airport. It is a very nice hotel however, I wouldn't recommend it to people that are single or partners without kids. But it the perfect place for families. My Partner and I were like the only couple without kids. The price for the hotel included Breakfast, dinner, and a few free Massage. It has a nice gym. The rooms were very comfortable with a fridge, TV and even a nice couch to relax on. The staffs are also very friendly.
Beds are very hard. Why not spend some money on good mattresses. When we checked in they gave us a room that smelled so much mold we couldn't stay there. It was coming from the Air condition. After complaining and demanding to get a new room, house keeping showed up with a air freshener....We didn't accept off course and after a long time we were moved in to a new room without smell. Breakfast doesn't offer fresh juices or fresh baked eggs of your own choice. The breakfast area is crowded and feels like a canteen. Kids activities were limited and not offered every day. The pools were clean and good maintained. Close and easy access to the beach. Its a fair hotel if you dont care so much about the standard. When they had kids activities it was of good quality. The paid sessions could had been longer though. Our son had fun but wanted to stay longer than 90 minutes.
This hotel has been a great base for three family holidays for us - and we normally never go back to the same place! Two trips were from Denmark to Thailand, then the third from Australia. On the last two occasions, my wife, daughter and I met up with parents from the UK for a joint holiday. It's that type of place, with the hotel and Kamala Beach offering enough for everyone to be happy. It's not the cheapest option but it is definitely good value for money. The hotel itself is maintained perfectly, with very friendly and hard working staff. We only had B&B, no lunch or dinner in the hotel, but breakfast was great. The pools are many and large (and warm) and the beach is pretty calm - unfortunately calmer than it used to be after the removal of many of the restaurants in the recent government clean-up, though there are still plenty of options in town once on the road paralleling the beach (not the main road). There is one downside though - even recognising this is Asia and I need to dial back my European sensitivities - the hotel is smoky with far too many people smoking, This is particularly annoying when you have booked a family-friendly 'Happy Baby' room and your neighbours on both sides smoke (and yes, both had kids with them). There were also plenty of people smoking all around the pools. Now, short of making the hotel non-smoking, which probably isn't commercial so won't happen, maybe Sunwing should offer smoke-free accommodation blocks and swimming pools? The hotel is big enough to do this and it could be great marketing for a lot of the Scandinavian / Northern European target audience who are used to non-smoking environments. Just a thought and maybe you just need to suck it up (literally, in this case) if you want to travel in Asia, but it seems an easy option for a hotel marketing itself at families and is within reach for Sunwing to implement.
We purchased a Scoopon for 8 nights for our family of two adults and children aged 5 and 7. Negatives: - forgot our airport arrival transfer. Terribly unpleasant after a 12 hour flight delay and overnight flight. Eventually they sent a taxi. - mix up over the room, although this was quickly resolved and we were upgraded to a happy baby studio as we needed to be on the ground and there are no studio rooms on this level. There is only one building with a lift. - MINI LAND (kids club), extremely confusing as the program lists a lot of the activities as 'with adult'. We found out on day 3 or 4 of our stay we could actually check them in for 3 hours at a time. This changed our holiday and we wish this had been explained better on their website and at check in. - food very average - pool bar service was slow and some staff require further training on how to make drinks. - infection from pedicure. - pools far too hot. Positives: - we found the rooms and hotel in general to be extremely clean and well maintained for the price point. Having stayed in plenty of hotels in Asia I was impressed. - Mini Land was fabulous, my girls loved going there and the staff were really caring. - babysitting. Nari (?) from Mini Land babysat one night and the kids were really happy with her. - La Tasca staff ( especially Tan and Som) were like my kids new best friends. They loved my little one and it made eating out easy as they would chat to them if it was quiet and the kids area was great to be able to eat in peace. - the pools provided endless hours of fun. - Sawan the taxi driver was fabulous and friendly. We spent a half day sight seeing. Overall we had a fabulous stay and would definitely consider Sunwing as a holiday destination again
I stayed here with my family great hotel at a fantastic price rooms were as per pics pools were great kids club was good the food was a great selection at breakfast the staff all over the hotel were always happy and could not do enough the cleanliness was always if a high standard the beach was really good my family loved this holiday and loved the country great town near by and great fod thank you sunwing
Scoopon was offering a deal for the Sunwing Kamala Beach so we thought we should go for it as it was the first hotel offering a family room for 2 adults and 2 kids 17yrs & under instead of the usual 12yrs and under. We love Kamala Beach anyway so for us this was a huge bonus. What a wonderful surprise it was. We didn't know what to expect but our expectations have been met and then some. Our voucher was for 8 nights but we now wish it was 12. For $999 x 8 nights for 4 people including breakfast, Wifi, airport transfers and 1 dinner it was amazing value. Not only that, our room had a sink, a fridge and a microwave. Crockery and cutlery was also provided. When you stay here, you're not a victim to the hotel and it's prices and the prices here were very reasonable. Massages etc were the same price as outside the hotel. You have the markets rights next door for food and clothes and the main road is a short walk from the resort. Did I mention the most beautiful beach in Phuket - Kamala! Last but not least, the wonderful staff who were at all times polite, friendly and very efficient. We are definitely back next year!
Booked 2 pool access room months ago. Confirmed 2 weeks before we arrived. When we arrived we were not given a pool access room as none were available. We were extremely disappointed as had been planning this for a long time. We were given 2 other rooms close to the pool but that's not the same as pool access rooms. What makes me angry that they can take your money book the room you asked for and then don't give you that room because of overbooking or some other reason. It's not right that they can do that. They did compensate us but that's not what I wanted. I wanted POOl ACCESS ROOMS.
