I will definitely not be recommending the hotel to anyone! Although the bedroom was clean, comfy and reasonably well-kept and well-equipped with good access to the free Wi-Fi, the bathroom was very dated - everything had a brown tinge to it - and brown water came out of the taps. I quickly resorted to using bottled water to brush my teeth. The rest of the hotel was also dated - there were leaking ceilings and a general feeling of damp. A large patch of carpet on my floor was wet for my entire stay. Fortunately, my room was at the back of the hotel and quite high up, but others I knew staying there were at the front of the hotel and, despite also being high up, were kept awake at night by the noise from the nightclub down below.
Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Room was good size and comfortable bed. In center of town so convenient to walk. Hotel in need of updating as very old. Musty smell around the hotel. Breakfast was ok with good choice of food.
Though I agree with some earlier comments that the hotel is in need of upgrading, I was very pleased with the friendly services and location in the heart of Phuket Town. The property is very suitable for wedding and meeting events and I can highly recommend this. Will be back again soon but can't wait to see the improvements after renovation soon!
China Eastern Airline put us up at this hotel for a night when our flight was canceled. It's very old and dingy and needs to be updated. The sheets and beds were clean but the bathroom was not up to par. The breakfast and lunch buffet was not edible, even after spending 2 weeks eating street food in Thailand
Well what can I say???? It was probably nice in the 70's 80's.. the hotel is in real bad state of repair especially on the 5th floor I think on the walk to the pool, the smell of damp and serious amounts of damage on the ceiling and walls, I would avoid like the plague...
I imagine that 13years ago, when the photographs were taken (from which I imagine influences people's decision to stay here) that it was probably a nice place to stay, but unfortunately it is rapidly falling into disrepair and imagine it will never shine again. I'm travelling around Asia and as spending Christmas in Phuket, I invited my father out to visit. He booked 16 days here and lasted 5. As money is tight for my trip I inherited 11 nights at the metropole (upgraded to the 17th floor) and as promised, the carpet comes alive at night with cockroaches the size of dogs. The 4th floor access to the pool is now pitch black with several leaks coming through the ceiling, with a new bucket, strategically placed, everyday (I'll inform reception on my way out this afternoon of the latest ). On the whole i think it's a strong contender for a remake of 'the shining' . Mind you the lobby is quite nice
Look impressive, while booking I was impressed from the photos, but once I entered I was disappointed, this hotel is maybe oldest in Phuket city center, outdated, dirty, smelly, need renovation and maintaining
Old and dirty, full of Chinese tour groups Bathroom was filthy, everywhere dirt, paint falling off the wall, door losing the wooden panels... carpet disgusting We changed rooms and were shown to a "good" room which was equally bad. So we left and went to On On hotel which was cozy and we were so happy we did move
This was the first hotel I stayed in Phuket 16 years ago, and I keep coming back every year. part of the reason, is that the staff are attentive and dependable. the other part is that its ultra convenient, you can walk to every part of Phuket town from Metropole. the rooms are simple, but decent size. the breakfast buffet also has local and international fare, with made to order omelets etc. My stand out staff member this year Pattarawadee (Patty) R. She is always pleasant, available no matter when I have a question.
This is a unique hotel as I haven't seen dirtier one. Aeroflot has put us here for a day because of flight delay, we wouldn't sleep here even if the delay would last longer, we would go elsewhere and pay for it ourselves. Hotel stinks really badly and is totally empty, it is a ghost tower of Phuket. How come this place has any positive reviews and managed to keep the stars ?
