Long Beach Resort, Phu Quoc Island

From the airport straight to the resort (shuttle service provided by the resort) we've had nothing but great service. The resort on the ancient side is like a tropical rainforest, which was exactly what we were looking for. Joey was extremely thorough with the process and was extremely welcoming (most staff were). The restaurant as well, to our surprise, was really good! We enjoyed our meals there every day! Can't wait to revisit :)

I am appalled by the favorable reviews on TripAdvisor, Expedia, and Fodors recommending this property. I carefully coordinate my vacation plans and accommodations, and this place is entirely misrepresented in every forum. First, and this is critical - DO NOT allow them to hold your passport. Yes, unlike other hotels, they actually took my passport (rather than merely make a copy) and held it on the guise that there was some law on Phu Quoc requiring them to do so. This is not true- I am now at another location and talked to locals and it is actually against the law for me to be without my passport. When I demanded it back the following morning, it was bent and ragged compared to its prior pristine condition. As to the property itself, the conditions are that of a motel at best, the photographs do not accurately depict any of the run-down grounds and structures, and I was actually concerned that I would get sick from some of the conditions. The property: the pool was dirty and the water did not appear to be filtering. The smaller pool or hot tub was still and no movement, and there was standing water in a nearby planter on the steps to the beach. I walked down to the beach, which was filthy. The dining area was dated, and while the staff was nice, I am fairly certain that my croissant at breakfast (the only thing I trusted at that point) was undercooked/ heated from a package/ tin. I likened the property to the Bates Motel, as there were no other guests or lights visible on the night that I arrived. The following morning, I still only saw two couples on site in several hours. The room: The mildew/ bad air smell hit me as soon as I entered the room, and did not get better throughout the night. The room is sparse (not in a good modern way), and dark and dreary even in the daylight. The bath bottles had old faded and peeling labels, evidencing that they refill the small plastic bottles, the two small bath towels (which they told me I had to use as beach/pool towels too) felt like scratch paper, and there were previously used flip flops clearly left in the room for use. There is no "mini-bar" but merely an empty refrigerator to hold what you bring- from where, I have no idea. Although I booked it for 3 nights, I left immediately after the 1 night and rebooked at another property. I have never done that in all my personal and business travels, but I genuinely felt that the area was unsafe, unclean, and unacceptable. I advise anyone who is looking for something beyond a motel level to avoid this place.

Excellent hotel with a lovely restaurant and excellent staff. On our last night a very noisy family moved in the room next door, reception organised a quieter room for us with no fuss and great charm.

Huge room in the newer area near the amazing swimming pool. Loved staying here with the beach only metres away. Great staff and very hepful. Fantastic selection and quality foods for breakfast while overlooking the swimming pool below. Very close to a restaurant called Lemongrass which I would reccommend also. Would stay here again for sure.

We stayed there for 4 days. And since the first day we already fell in love with this place. the pictures that are shown online definitely not as good as what it is in reality. They have two part, modern and ancient part. We stayed in a family room in the modern part. But the ancient actually looks amazing!! Overall the room is good. Only some towel was not too clean and the shower water got blocked sometimes. The service is very very good. We booked our flight at 7pm and they let us check out at 5pm. Our room view was in front of the swimming pool and the sea, it's very convenient you can just walk to the sea. And in front of the sea there are few bars. So you can enjoy your beer and sunbath in the sea. It definitely made our trip the best memories.

Both the room and the bathroom were big. We had a litlle balcony. We were in the new part of the resort, just in front of the breakfast restaurant and a few steps away from the swimming pool. We really liked it! The staff was really helpful! We were there in low season so we were almost for our self in the resort, we liked it! They had a dinner in the beach with chef. You could choose the food that the chef will make in the grill and will be served in the table in the beach. Really nice! We missed that the hotel had scooter rental, but they showed us where we could rent.

All pictures on their Homepage are nicely made But this has nothing to do With Reality. The Roms are smaller than they Look on pic's The asian rooms are old and you van hear every noices from outside. Do not book this hotel.

We were extremely happy with our stay at this resort. We had booked a Superior Room which was of a very good 4 star standard. Quite spacious, wonderful large extremely comfortable bed with nice linen, big bathroom and LCD TV. They also have ancient rooms which look quite authentic and atmospheric. The ancient rooms are the closest to reception and the more modern ones closer to the beach. Whilst we had a good sized TV, the reception was very poor and hardly worth watching. Internet worked well in all areas. There was also only a small window in the room if that bothers you. Large open area reception area with friendly staff on the front desk. Joey was extremely efficient and very helpful both before and during our stay. Breakfast was a buffet, great variety of dishes, good quality, should pease everyone. Options changed each day. The Pho here was particularly impressive, the best we had in any hotel we stayed in during our 3 weeks in Vietnam. There is a beach bar on the beach with happy hour cocktails 2 for 1 between 5-7. Barman Nam very pleasant and professional. The hotel is on the beach, but is up high so there are quite a few steps. There is ramp all the way to the pool but to get to the beach there are some more stairs. Being up high the views from the restaurant area are lovely, looking over the pool area then on to the beach and ocean. Swimming pool is a good size and warm. Down from the pool area there is a small bridge going over a lily covered waterway which is also attractive. The stairs are mostly a reasonable gradient and not at all onerous for most people. There are alternative bars and restaurants in both directions once you are on the beach, probably more to the right as you come from the hotel. On the left hand side there is bar that plays good music (for our age group anyway) and ladies in front doing massage. Hotel sun beds nearly adjoin so it's a good spot to relax during the day. The beach itself has very deep sand, the water a great temperature, some waves but not too dumpy. Taxi from the ferry terminal is abt 160,000 dong on the meter in one of the small cars. Higher prates apply for the bigger taxis. We had 5 nights here but could have stayed longer. We will be back.

This hotel far exceeded our expectations. We did not know what to expect as we have stayed at many resorts that have been reviewed as being very good, but have not delivered. This place was so clean, such a great location on the beach; the breakfast buffet was fantastic and the hotel staff were so incredibly helpful. Our airport transfers were so smooth. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and hope to be back here at some point.

Long Beach resort is perfectly located in the downtown center of the island and within a few minute distance from all great dining places (Chez Carole, Ganesh, 343, Ra Khoi, etc.) and also very near to the new Night Market. The beach is one of the most beautiful in the island. Staff service was excellent. Breakfast buffet was good and changed every day.
